2023.03.22 14:42 F4bick Magento2 community ed. v2.4.6 and OpenSearch 2.5.0 reindex error

Hi,
i've created an enviroment for Magento2, with tree nodes (mariadb 10.6, opensearch 2.5.0 and appliance with php81 and nginx 1.18).
I've then imported from a DEV enviroment a new magento (the DEV works with mariadb 10.4 and elasticsearch 7.17) but when do a reindex on the new system, I've this result :
Design Config Grid index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Customer Grid index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Category Products index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Product Categories index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Catalog Rule Product index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Product EAV index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Stock index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Inventory index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Catalog Product Rule index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Product Price index has been rebuilt successfully in 00:00:00 Catalog Search index process error during indexation process: {"error":"no handler found for uri [/magento2_product_1_v2/document/_mapping] and method [PUT]"}
I've tryied to use elasticsearch 8.6.1 with the same results, before to read that the community edition only supports opensearch (the latest elastic now seems to works only with the paid version).
Any suggestions? I would to avoid to downgrade to an old elastic version, because in any case, seems supported in the latest Magento2 version.

2023.03.22 14:38 EarlineCarrasco [US-PA] Landlord Evicting Me on False Premises - Need Help with Continuance Letter and Legal Options

Hello legaladvice,
I am currently facing an eviction in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, which I believe is based on false premises. My landlord has accused me of not paying rent and causing a pest infestation, but I have made considerable efforts to resolve these issues. I am trying to write a letter to the judge requesting a continuance so that I can gather evidence and present a compelling case. I've included the letter draft below and would appreciate any feedback or suggestions you might have.
Letter Draft:Re: CASE NAME
Case No: NUMBER In the County Court of Westmoreland County, Dear Honorable JUDGE's NAME,
I am Mr. MYNAME, writing regarding the upcoming eviction hearing scheduled for DATE AND TIME. I am formally requesting an extension on this case until the 5th of the following month. This additional time is crucial for me to gather essential evidence and present a compelling case.
As a disabled individual, I have faced financial challenges that have hindered my ability to address my landlord's concerns promptly. Nevertheless, I have proactively sought assistance through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) and have been selling my possessions to resolve any outstanding rent issues. Furthermore, my mother, Mrs. MOTHER'S NAME—offered to cover my rent, and has attempted to contact the landlord, and could provide proof of these efforts.
Pennsylvania law, specifically 68 P.S. § 250.501, emphasizes the importance of proper communication between landlords and tenants. I have upheld my obligations under this statute, while Dr. LANDLORD's refusal to engage in constructive communication violates its spirit. Additionally, the Pennsylvania Landlord and Tenant Act of 1951, Section 250.503-A, stipulates that landlords must give written notice before proceeding with eviction for nonpayment of rent. My mother's attempts to resolve the rent issue and the landlord's lack of response to my mother’s offer, 2 days before to his notice to quit, raise concerns about the legality of the eviction notice.
Regarding the alleged pest infestation, Westmoreland County and Pennsylvania state laws require the landlord to bear the burden of proof for such claims. I am actively taking measures to ensure my apartment is pest-free, further demonstrating my commitment to resolving this matter. Pennsylvania state law, specifically 68 P.S. § 250.206, mandates that landlords must maintain the premises in a habitable condition, which includes providing pest control when necessary. The landlord's failure to schedule pest control services or provide any proof of infestation raises questions about their compliance with these laws.
I can also demonstrate that, with three additional days to repair my phone following my next paycheck, I will be able to present evidence proving my apartment's cleanliness during the inspection. I possess relevant certifications and can secure testimony from former teachers to verify my expertise in this area.
In light of these circumstances, I kindly request that you grant me a continuance until the 5th of next month, allowing me the opportunity to fully address the concerns raised by my landlord and adequately prepare my defense. Your understanding and consideration in this matter are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
I am also facing financial and communication barriers in seeking legal representation. I have only $3 and cannot afford a lawyer. I have autism, which makes it difficult for me to understand things, and I have contacted several lawyers who either wanted $1000+ or were vague in their explanations. The one lawyer who explained things clearly and with whom I connected does not take on landlord-tenant cases.
I would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer, both on the content of my continuance letter and on any affordable legal resources I might be able to access. I am feeling overwhelmed and desperate to resolve this situation.
Thank you for your time and help.

2023.03.22 14:31 Bandersnatch1239 Help find my AirPod pros that say they are next to me!

My AirPods Pro 2s show as last seen out of their case in my conference room at work. While I know I had my case in my pocket in that room I know I didn’t have them out of the case. When I went to use them later I opened the case and they weren’t in there. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why the AirPods wouldn’t be in the case. When I walk up to that room which is where the location settings say they were last seen it connects to them but doesn’t beep or allow the find button to connect from a physical search perspective. The find my app does say they are beeping with the sound button but aren’t. Is it possible that my AirPods are showing as connecting when I get close to that location only because it’s the last “seen” location ? I wouldn’t think so because it should only connect with Bluetooth
So. To summarize the situation l
1.AirPods last known location is my conference room. It’s worth noting that AirPods do not have a gps tracker in them so this location was the last time my phone was connected to them in some way.
  1. When I’m the physical location of the last seen location the AirPods connect to my phone via Bluetooth. They even allow my music and phone calls to connect but you cannot hear any noise.
3.in the find my app an ear bud will actually connect and act as if it’s doing the individual beeping for location identification but it’s not heard
4.in the find my app the location the find button on the right indicates that they are nearby but the circle is blue instead of green. Green typically indicates that it can actually see where they are and then the Bluetooth location (walking around) would work. It will not connect to the find function on the individual AirPods which doesn’t make sense because the Bluetooth actually connected.

A few timepaws after professor Baslik left my school things returned to normal. I settled into my office and prepared to start my first task on the list, tackling my overflowing inbox. With my mail client opened, I began scrolling through the endless stream of messages. Most of them were routine: reminders, updates, and requests for meetings. But one particular letter caught my eye, standing out amidst the sea of text.
I looked at the email and saw the sender's name, Sirkal (of Kadu from Kleran). It was someone from this town and the host of her mailing address showed why I have never heard of her before. The letter came from the University of Charok, the same institution where Professor Baslik taught. It is not that odd, really. Kleran and Charok are located next to each other. It's not that unthinkable for someone who was born here to move there. The reverse is also true. I remember that the parents of some of my students are from Charok.
"Dear Vichak,
My name is Sirkal of Kadu from Kleran, and I am a legal overseer assigned to the Department of Social Science at the University of Charok. I am writing to you regarding Professor Baslik's recent visit to your school."
As a legal overseer, I have been entrusted with the responsibility to manage a legal challenge that might arise from his visit. I also would like to follow up with you on some important matters related to your institution.
I believe that it is in your best interest to reply to this letter at your earliest convenience to schedule a meeting and I will be able to synchronize with your cycle. Your prompt response will allow us to address these matters effectively and efficiently.
With Respect
Sirkal"
The letter from Sirkal and her request for discussion about legal matters made me feel a bit apprehensive. I see how being involved with Professor Baslik, even indirectly, could potentially be controversial. So I did need to tread carefully to avoid any missteps. The fact that Sirkal's mail server was the same as Baslik's is quite reassuring. I'm not an informatics expert, but I think it would be difficult to spoof such a thing.
It was likely that Sirkal was indeed who she claimed to be.
Still, as a responsible educator, It was important to do my due diligence before responding to Sirkal's request. I spent some time conducting an online search, looking for more information about her and her background. As I sifted through the search results, I found several pages hosted by her workplace, as well as her personal page. What I discovered was a woman who was much more than just a legal staff member at the University of Charok. Sirkal also worked as a pro bono advocate, offering her legal services to clients who might not otherwise be able to afford them.
That kind of dedication gave me confidence in her character. So I finally wrote my response to her.
"Hi Sirkal
My school operates in Shift Minus One. I am available for half a claw during the middle of my timepaw. Let me know a suitable date for our meeting.
Regards, Vichak"
Despite people living in their own shifts, we do need a standardized way. The government of the entire planet works in the same shift and they work in what's known as "Shift Zero". The four others are Minus Two, Minus One, Plus One, and Plus Two.
I was about to read another email when my intercom chimed in with a request for a call. Having ascertained that I am awake, the advocate switched to voice call.
"Do you have an agenda on the between 1 to 1.5 claws from now? If not, allow me to visit you." her email read.
The timeframe she had given me was during my mid-meal break, which I usually spent in my office eating. I wasn't sure what Sirkal wanted to discuss. I really, really hope this won't end with me getting bogged down with workplace politics at the University of Charok.
"I mean… I am free, but are you going to visit soon?" I said, hoping for a bit more information.
"Thank you for confirming your schedule. I shall be going." She said before ending the call.
At the designated break time one claw later, I was about to enjoy a meal that my mother and I had made earlier that day. Just as I was about to take my first bite, the school's security guard contacted me through the intercom.
"Ma'am, someone named Sirkal is at the gate right now," the guard said.
"Let her in," I instructed the guard. "I'll meet her at my office."
I took the first bite of the Döner Kebab and I wondered just what she was here for. When Sirkal appeared in my office the advocate sat before I even had the chance to allow her. The woman has dark fur with a shocking white stripe extending from behind her eyes down to her back. It was a pattern that I had never seen before, and I wonder if it was natural or a result of some kind of dye.
"Thank you for giving me the time and place for us to talk," Sirkal began, looking at my lunch box. "Do not let my presence hinder the enjoyment of your meal." Her body language was minimal, and her gestures were subtle, but there was a sense of intensity in the way she composed herself. I couldn't help but wonder if, like Vani and Baslik, there was something "wired wrong" in her head.
Not "wrong", I chastised myself, but "differently".
I extended a gesture of hospitality to Sirkal. "Do you want something to eat or drink? I can order one from the cafeteria." I asked.
"Cold water suffices," she replied. "The wrap you have there has a peculiar form and texture. May I inquire as to what those things are?"
I chuckled slightly at her curiosity. "Oh, this? This is a human dish called Döner Kebab. I've heard that it used to use flesh, but they have plant-based variations now."
Her eyes bulged slightly. There was a barely restrained desire in her gaze as if she was fascinated by the idea of consuming human food. But before I could get further into this topic, Sirkal spoke again.
"I have heard from Baslik about your adventure to the capital," she said.
"I did… yeah. Hey, do you want half of mine?" I pushed my lunchbox toward the advocate, offering her a share of my Döner Kebab.
Sirkal hesitated for a moment but then gestured with gratitude. "Along with this cold water, how much do you sell this for?" she asked, rummaging through her satchel.
"Uh... free?" I replied, a bit taken aback by the question. The advocate had taken a cash card, but she put it back again.
"Thank you," she said, taking one of the kebab wraps.
"Oh yeah, let me get you your drink," I got off and made my way to my bar to pour her a glass of water.
"So, what brought you here?" I asked, finally getting down to the business.
"As per my letter, my colleague Baslik visited your school yesterday, and I have a moral obligation to visit," she said, her voice almost as flat as Vani's.
"How well do you know Professor Baslik?" I asked, placing the glass of water on the table and pushing it toward her.
"I am the reason Baslik is still teaching at our university," she replied. "People he works with tend to get caught in the crossfire, which is why I am here."
Her words left me with more questions than answers, but before I could ask any more, Sirkal pulled out a pad and requested to add her contact information to my device. I accepted her request and watched as her details were added to my contacts.
"We, the crosswired, need to stick together," Sirkal said, looking up at me with a hint of intensity in her gaze. "I'm offering you my service free of charge."
I raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Crosswired? Is that what you call yourself?"
Sirkal nodded, "Yes, though the human term 'neurodivergent' is gaining popularity too. I know you're used to people like me," While I wondered if she meant my students or my brother on Earth, I realized that she stared crossed-eyed with her snout pointing at me.
My brother then.
"I see. I did notice that Baslik has no fear toward humans."
"He's devoid of feeling," Sirkal continued. "Fortunately, his parents instilled altruism in him."
I couldn't help but think of the recently expelled student, Radaktil, as she mentioned.
"I know about your brother," Sirkal continued. "He is blessed to have a sister like you."
Her monotonous words felt like a warm embrace, and I felt a sense of gratitude toward this stranger. "Oh, I can't hog all the compliments," I said, smiling. "My mother also supported Vani throughout his life. How about you?"
Sirkal continued to eat the kebab, savoring each bite as she stared at me intently. "This human food tastes very delightful," she remarked between bites. "Thank you for introducing me to their cuisine."
It was obvious to me that she was avoiding answering my question.
"I'm sorry for asking that," I said, sensing that I had touched on a sensitive topic. "It must have been terrible."
Sirkal seemed to relax a bit at my apology. "In case I am being recorded, I do not consent," she said, pausing to take another bite of the kebab before continuing. "It has been said that I survived the Correctional Facility. Of course, if you search for my public record, you will find that there is no mention of me being committed to such a place."
I sensed the unspoken implication in her words and felt a bit sad for her. The thought of anyone having to endure the Correctional Facility made me dread it, and for now… I wondered again if I had done the right thing with Radaktil.
"How much do you know about my school?" I asked.
"Your institution has a reputation," Sirkal replied. "I could have had a more comfortable life had something like yours existed in my time. I am personally invested in ensuring your school's continuation."
I felt a sense of relief at her words. "Regardless... sometimes we're way over our heads," I added, as the recent incident with the violent student was still heavy on my mind.
"Please elaborate," Sirkal said, her gaze intense as she leaned in closer to me.
"Sirkal, there was a violent student of mine that I might have condemned to a correctional facility," I admitted, feeling a sense of guilt and shame wash over me as I spoke.
"How violent?" Sirkal asked, her gesture twitching slightly as she spoke.
"He assaulted several students, but we only caught him after we installed a hidden camera. Mind you, the student he caught assaulting was crosswired too," I felt a lump form in my throat as I spoke.
Sirkal stared at me for a moment, as if judging me for my character. She took a final large bite of the kebab before continuing. "Our system is built in such a way that sometimes things like this are unavoidable," she said finally. "I understand in a way that does not condone nor condemn."
"Do you think I should do something different?" I asked Sirkal, hoping for some guidance and reassurance.
"That question is your burden to bear, Vichak," Sirkal replied. "I am here to provide you with legal services to protect your school and your students. But making you feel better about your decision is not in my job description."
When she finished, I heard a chime from my office's sound system, signaling the arrival of a new notification. Checking my desk, I realized that I had received a letter from an advocate on behalf of Kiyat. It took me a while before I realized that Kiyat was Radaktil's mother.
"I believe I need your services, Sirkal,"
Sirkal nodded. She chugged the glass of cold water until it was drained empty before taking out her pad from her satchel and turning its screen on.

Date [Standardized Human Reckoning]: 2136–09-10
The next day, after spending a restful night in Dieng, we departed early in the morning for the city of Wonosobo. We needed to restock our supplies and perform maintenance on the Van. Once we had everything dealt with, we continued our journey towards the City of Yogyakarta, but not before we made a detour to a temple called Borobudur.
We approached the temple after we paid the entrance fee. With a clear grassy field surrounding the temple, it looked more like a monumental mound than a place of worship. The details of intricate carvings on its walls became more visible as we came closer. However, we were only allowed to go as far as the fence that surrounded the temple, which was about ten meters from the base. As we stood there, taking in the sight of the temple I wished that we could get closer.
"So… I presume we are not allowed to get in?"
"Back then tourists were allowed to get in and they wore down the stone of the temple. Nowadays they only let religious leaders or scholars in."
Curious about the temple's origins I asked. "Is this a Hindu temple too?"
"Oh, this one is a-" Johan paused. "I have a feeling we might be allowed to enter."
I looked in the direction Johan was looking, and a furless human approached us, they were clad in what I remember as formal clothing.
"Hi. I'm Sudarmo. Do you want to see the Borobudur up close?" My translator was still in subtitle mode and there was no hint of gender in the text. But I think he was a man. Sudarmo has no single fur on top of his head, just like Johan. But he still had fur above his eyes, unlike Stawa.
"But do you not restrict access to scholars?" I asked him.
"Aren't we all scholars?" He said with a smile, the micro gestures on his face implied that he wanted me to get into this tour.
"I suppose you have a point," I said, returning his smile. "Lead the way.
The man led us along the fence, through the crowds of tourists, who stared at us. I guess they are envious that they were not given the same opportunity that we had. Approaching the gate in the fence, I noticed that it was not particularly tall and a human could easily jump over it. However, there seemed to be a sense of respect and decency that prevented them from doing so. I wondered if there were mechanisms in place to detect and prevent unauthorized access.
Sudarmo placed one of his fingers on a sensor on the gate, and after a beep, he pushed it open. A set of stairs on every four sides of the temple allowed us to climb upward. We walked to the one nearest to us, and when we reached the bottom of the stairs the function of a shelf near one of the stairs became clear. Sudarmo removed his feet covering and stored it on the shelf.
"I need you to remove your shoes as well." The tour guide ordered.
"Is this a purity thing, or do you want to reduce the tear and wear on the stone?" I asked.
"A bit of both, but mostly the latter." Said Sudarmo.
The tour guide explained that the Borobudur is slightly younger than the temples in Dieng, but not by much. The temple was somewhat "lost" until it was found in the nineteenth century and restored.
"What deities are venerated in this temple?" I asked, curious about the religious significance of the site.
"This is a Buddhist temple," Sudarmo replied. "While we do have the concept of divine beings, these gods are also bound in the cycle of rebirth. Are you familiar with the concept of reincarnation?"
I nodded. "This is what the people of the Sun in my homeworld believed. The people of the Stars, on the other hand, believe that their soul will ascend into the sky and watch over their descendants."
Sudarmo went on to explain that the temple is adorned with a series of intricate reliefs that depict scenes from the life of the religious teacher who founded the Buddhism belief system. The reliefs were originally painted white and then given color later. All this has disappeared more than one thousand years later.
"You said that humans have restored part of this temple. Why not restore the colors too?"
"Well... it's controversial. We don't know the original color of the relief, for example. Well let's get up shall we?"
When I placed my foot on the stone floor of the temple, I felt something akin to…awe? I thought about the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of humans, who have set their feet on the temple. The sense of "deep time" I felt in Dieng was present here as well.
We climbed up to the first terrace and there we walked around as Sudarmo continued commentary on the relief on the wall and the balustrade of the terrace. He also injected the temple's history and significance. I found myself captivated by his storytelling, and before I knew it, half a claw had passed and we were at the topmost part of the temple. A statue of a human sitting sat before me, he looked so serene in his meditation.
Sudarmo told me that it was the Buddha himself.
"So, your main goal is to be free from the cycle of death and rebirth? How do you achieve it?"
"Well… if I have to sum it up I would use the five precepts. We have to abstain from killing living beings, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, and intoxication. Mind you, this is only a summation, people still argue about the details."
I was intrigued and asked, "All living beings? So you refrain from eating flesh?"
Sudarmo replied, "The vat-grown meat can be harvested without killing. Though I only eat them for my birthday." He added with a chuckle.
The idea of eating flesh only on one's birthday seemed morbid to me, but any argument I can think of against vat-grown meat would be based on my prejudice, not something coherently utilitarian.
Johan added, "Yeah, plant-based meat is cheaper and doesn't taste that different."
Curiosity got the best of me and I asked, "Is there any religion where flesh-eating is its central part?"
Sudarmo looked at Johan and I looked at my human too.
"Well… uh… when I say 'sacrifice' can you explain what the translation is?"
"To sacrifice is to do something detrimental to yourself for the betterment of others."
"Yeah… that is more like self-sacrifice to us. Sacrifice can also mean something we give for an offering to a deity."
"Oh… you used to offer flesh to your deities?"
"There is a religion where the sacrifice of animals was a major festival, but times have changed. That religion now accepts vat-grown meat as a substitute."
Sudarmo nodded in agreement. "Yes, the concept of sacrifice has evolved. The practice of animal sacrifice has been around for thousands of years, but we humans have become more aware of our impact on the environment and other living beings. As Johan said, many religions have adapted their practices to reflect these changes."
As much as they tried to hide it. My time in the museums revealed that humans had gone through dark times in which they waged war and committed atrocities against each other and other species. But as the geologist tour guide said, our ancestors' mistake is not our own. Humans, like everyone else. learn from their mistakes and grow.
Their commitment to creating a kinder future for their society is something that I found comforting. They had climbed up the food chain, but once they came victorious at the top... they looked down at those they trampled and… they chose to fix what damage they did.
I hope that more people in the future will be able to understand this.

2023.03.22 14:19 kevysaysbenice Anybody familiar with "municipal civil infractions" and able to provide any insights into the way fines might work?

I recently contacted various city officials (1st Ward, 14th district, and the major) and got some information about The Broadway. The tl;dr; is that there is a case - a civil infraction edit: I'm not actually sure if this is a "civil" or "criminal" case - confusingly the court website has this filed under "Criminal", but reading the code of ordinances below this seems like a civil case to me? but really I have no idea what I'm takling about. Either way, it's Ordinance Chapter 176 : G-HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS - pending as of October 3, 2022.
(side note: apparently the Kallman group (David specifically), the same lawyer(s) representing Ottawa Impact / Ottawa County are representing The Broadway)
My question is this: let's assume GR "wins". I'm wondering if anybody with experience with this sort of thing can give any realistic idea of what might happen in terms of practical outcomes for The Broadway. According to
https://library.municode.com/mi/grand_rapids/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=TIOLRE_CH176HURI_ART5COPRINLECOPE_S9.971PRPE
A municipal civil infraction is punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) and all other costs, damages, expenses, sanctions and remedies as authorized by Michigan law.
The fine "maximum" is $500 - I imagine that is per incident, but given it seems like this is going to be a year long process that doesn't seem that significant? Am I miss understanding this, or how would this normally work? If this drags out for a full year, then all that happens is a $500 fine, I'd be pretty disappointed.
On the flip side, there is this:
Sec. 9.969. - Injunctions.
The City Attorney's Office may commence a civil action to obtain injunctive relief to prevent discrimination prohibited by City Code and this Chapter, to reverse the effects of such discrimination, or to enforce a mediation agreement.
This sounds a bit more hopeful that perhaps the city could do something like revoke whatever license The Broadway has, effectively shutting it down. But again, I have no idea if this is actually realistic, or what this section on injunctions means.
Any thoughts appreciated!

First of, when it happens you may feel either:
(A) Empathy for the ghoster because they may be going through something and you excuse their bullshit behavior or
(B) they were never really genuine with you and you just couldn't smell the bullshit the entire time, that it was all a game.. they may have even been a narcissist (covert or overt)

Right now, the sudden cease of contact might cause you anxieties as you start to reminisce about the beginning, how it was all good, how kind they are, the high feelings you get from someone you like and actually likes you back (appreciates you, respects you, puts you on a pedestal, needs you, makes you feel important or validated, has discussed future plans with you) then suddenly vanished into thin air.
You might start blaming yourself if you did something wrong, ruminating over and over again what caused this behavior:
Whatever the reason, this is not how a healthy functioning adult treats another person. Do not excuse their childhood trauma, attachment styles or victim mentality as an excuse for this poor behavior. Many people have very shitty pasts and painful scars yet they do not treat other people like garbage or shit.

= CHAPTER 2: THE GHOSTER ===
I am assuming you are reading this because you are finally at the stage of grieving where you are doing a ton of research to make sense of what happened to you.
I am going to use messages I have learned from dating coach Susan Winter (as she is my go-to YouTube channel dating coach expert and I am talking about my healing)
It might be good to watch these videos yourself:

Here are some excerpts from the videos:
When we run into confused people, we end up confused. It's like we caught a cold when we are healthy. We had too much contact with them and they made us sick.
If you run into something that is completely illogical and you're thinking "If I could just figure out what they were thinking and feeling" Stop doing it because it is an absolute waste of energy. Chances are:
  1. They didn't know what they were feeling
  2. They still don't know what they're feeling
Trying to make sense of something that is illogical is ridiculous. You are not going to have the answer. There is no logical reason for illogical actions.
People are run by emotions, run by a default system that makes them run when their comfort level has been compromised. They are people that don't wanna deal with the present day and take responsibility.
Partnership is about consistency. They suddenly bailed because they couldn't do it and there's nothing you can do to fix that, it has to be something inside of them.
You weren't delusional, they were there. Not everyone has a skillset to be in a relationship. Accept they are what they are and go back to your business.

= CHAPTER 3: THE RED FLAGS ===
Sometimes the person we are dating feels like someone so nice, caring, thoughtful, respectful, endearing, and . We tell our friends and family that they are someone we like and share our rose colored view of them that when we do sometimes see red flags about them, we often try not to look into it too much.
Here are some red flags I may have ignored in the beginning but when I look back, are really actually red flags:

= CHAPTER 4: THE HEALING ===
Take time to go through the 5 stages of grieving. Re-read this again if it helps. I would recommend you download the Breakup Triage audible book by Susan Winter as it helps with moving on. It is inexpensive and only 30 minutes straight talk. It will even help you find closure of your own if you don't have any yet. (Please please please do this, as I did not discuss here the steps she put in there)
At this point, you are at the stage you are probably obsessing about researching about ghosters or narcissism on your free time. Please do research until you find an answer, but when you have searched all you can, read all you can and you feel like you know all you can, I hope you can take a breather and stop. Focusing on the ghoster is not going to heal you.
You need to start looking within, question to ask yourself is:
As you can see, losing yourself sometimes is good for growth. The ghoster may not have been a good motivator, but it helps us understand ourselves and the things we may be seeking or missing in ourselves.
Lastly, when you are at the point only that you are no longer obsessed with the ghoster and are focused on wanting to heal, talk to your friends about past loves you used to also have those good feelings for.. Tell them the story from the beginning until the end (please make sure to actually do this exercise to trigger your memory and emotions). You will realize that world is vast and there are many other people who will make you feel the same way but actually are healthy and mature.
All these time you were focused on riding an impossible jampacked bus on your journey to life, that you didn't notice there was another better bus on the other side.
I hope how my journey of healing helped you on your healing as well. Please don't rush to heal.

This is now coming from them wanting the move, so immediately im thinking they are only doing this to help themselves at my expense.

2023.03.22 14:07 zionius_ Reference to The Children of Húrin (2007) in HoMe 11

I notice in the kindle edition of The War of the Jewels there is a reference to the later book The Children of Húrin (2007):
There are two points of detail to be mentioned in the text of NE corresponding to this paragraph. The words concerning the track that Brandir took to head off Níniel, ‘went steeply down southward to the river’ (p. 137), were an editorial change from the reading of the manuscript, which has ‘went steeply down westward’. The change was made because it is expressly said here that it was the path that Turambar and his companions had taken earlier: cf. p. 131 ‘they turned southward by a narrow track’; but Mr Noad’s clearly correct suggestion (see p. 157, §325) makes this emendation unnecessary. [But now see The Children of Húrin, 2007, pp. 289–90.]
It is of course a later addition, not found in the 1st edition (p.160). I guess the paper editions probably added it since the 2010s.
Such additions appear to be quite rare. A quick search of "2007/2017/2018", "CoH/FoG/B&L + p/pp" suggests this might be the only case of later-added references in HoMe (at least in the kindle edition). I can only recall another example: a reference to The Book of Lost Tales in LR. Are there any other cases?

2023.03.22 14:03 AlexMikkelsen Making music

Making music
Hello everyone. I'll start right away, without long introductions. This post consists of two parts: theoretical, where I reflect on the nature of creativity, and practical, where I comment on the creation of specific compositions. So, let's go!
Music is an amazing kind of creativity. A song done in a few minutes can take off and earn an author a lot of popularity and a ton of money.
Roy Orbison and his partner Bill Deese sat at Orbison's house trying to compose a song. In search of a melody, they played whatever came to mind. Roy Orbison's wife, Claudette, looked into the room and told her husband that she was going to the city to shop. Roy asked if she needed money, and then Deese got into the conversation with the remark: “Pretty woman never needs any money!". Then Orbison began humming the phrase "Pretty woman walking down the street", and Bill Deese began to beat the rhythm with his fist on the table. He vividly imagined a certain woman in a yellow skirt and red shoes, her heels clicking on the sidewalk. When Claudette returned with her shopping, the song was ready. In a television interview, Orbison said that it took as long to write the song as it sounds.
Neither cinema, nor literature, nor painting can boast such a big difference between costs and results. What's the secret? And why are some compositions successful and others not? I will not delay with the answer: in my opinion, the reason for this lies in the melodies.
If you write brilliant lyrics, make a professional arrangement in a high-quality studio with the best masters, achieve crystal clear sound, draw a great cover, shoot a video for a lot of money and invest properly in advertising, but you will not have a good melody, all this will turn out wasted. Melodies that catch, swing, evoke emotions will be interesting, but just a set of notes, even a pleasant one, will not lead to anything special.
I don’t know why different people’s brains respond in the same way to certain sets of sounds, but we can take advantage of this. We need to learn how to find these sounds.
https://preview.redd.it/crhxjrj7capa1.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=494c3557056d0273abf087088ac351ed26b47d3b
When creating music, there are principles that are characteristic of creativity in general. In my understanding, creativity is the creation of new connections between elements. Elements can be anything: things, words, ideas. For example, let's take two elements: a table and a glass. Let's create a connection: the glass is on the table. This is trite, but this is creativity. Let's try the other way around: the table is on a glass. Already more interesting. A table inside a glass, a glass inside a table, a glass made of wood, a table made of glass - as you can see, there can be many options, and I think you have already noticed an important detail: most of these connections are complete nonsense. But among the nonsense, you can find something interesting. For example, a table where you can pour water - at least this is a little less nonsense than previous examples)
So in everything that concerns creativity: the majority of creations are uninteresting and useless, and the task of the creator is to find worthy ones among them.
The Russian poet Mayakovsky has a wonderful poem. In the original, of course, there is a rhyme that makes the poem ten times better, but the pure meaning is also worth attention.
Poetry is the same mining of radium.
In gram production, in years of work.
You exhaust a single word for the sake of
Thousands of tons of verbal ore.
But how sizzling these words are burning
Next to the decay of the raw word.
These words set in motion
Thousands of years of millions of hearts.
The creation process as a whole consists of three stages:
  1. Accumulation of elements. In order to have something to create connections between, we need to find something new. The process of cognition, akin to creativity, is engaged in this. They are closely linked: recognition of something is impossible without creation, and creation leads to the recognition of something new.
  2. Generation of new links. As a rule, the subconscious is involved in this process. It does it quickly, easily, and much better than consciousness. Try, for example, deliberately creating new connections between the same table and glass, and you will see that this process is slow and stressful. But if you somehow convince the subconscious to do this (for example, trying to do it consciously for a while), new connections will pour in. This is inspiration.
  3. Selection. Probably the most important stage at which it is necessary, focusing on your feelings, to choose the best and throw out the rest. One of the biggest challenges at this stage is not distinguishing the good from the best and stopping work before greater results can be achieved. For example, a musician composes a melody, he really likes it, because it turns out to be better than everything that he has composed before, but he does not notice that the melody is still not good enough to use it in his work.
Eliezer S. Yudkowsky "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality":
"Unfortunately for Mr. Malfoy, he is still new to the art of creativity, and so he has committed a classic error of Ravenclaw."..."Mr. Malfoy is new to the business of having ideas, and so when he has one, he becomes proud of himself for having it. He has not yet had enough ideas to unflinchingly discard those that are beautiful in some aspects and impractical in others; he has not yet acquired confidence in his own ability to think of better ideas as he requires them. What we are seeing here is not Mr. Malfoy's best idea, I fear, but rather his only idea."
Now let's move on from the principles of creativity in general to creating melodies. In the case of melodies, elements are notes: their duration, pitch, and the intervals between them. And their combination is the creation of connections. Our task is to generate a large number of melodies, and then select those that cause an emotional reaction, catch. You can just hum or play an instrument. Do not forget that at first the process will be very difficult, and the result will be disgusting. Soon, the subconscious mind may figure out what you want from it (or maybe not - try it next time), and it will start working on its own. This is the optimal state for work.
Another important aspect of working with the subconscious is worth mentioning. The degree of effectiveness of his work and control over him depends on the degree of mental stress. If you are relaxed, then control and efficiency are maximized - you can easily start and stop the necessary processes, there is even an opportunity to hear melodies right in your head and control them there. If you are tense, depressed, then the situation will be the opposite. Therefore, it is advisable to bring yourself as relaxed as possible before starting creative work.
This can be done either with the help of external things that cause relaxation (environment, music, smells), or with the help of the skills of conscious relaxation (concentration on breathing, biofeedback therapy). This is a separate, no less interesting topic, but now we are talking about something else. Unless it is absolutely not worth using nicotine, alcohol or worse for relaxation - the minus is more than the plus.
When the melody is ready, you can create a composition on its basis, and here you will find all the same creativity, all the same enumeration of options - not only notes, but also chords, instruments, effects, features of the genre in which you compose. All this is also important, but not as important as the melodies, and in this article I will not go deep into this topic. As developing any skill, composing music takes time and effort, and it is worth remembering that the fundamental difference between someone who has achieved something and someone who has not achieved anything is that the first one started and did not quit.
https://preview.redd.it/4irwlegdcapa1.png?width=540&format=png&auto=webp&s=d3978e8bae2228541f833176c64929d96695bdae
On this philosophizing, we can end and go to examples.
***
There are special programs for working with music, and they are called DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). There are a great variety of them: there are paid ones, there are also free ones. Those who work with them constantly argue about which one is better, but here the principle applies: the best workstation is the one in which you personally feel comfortable working. At one time I played with FL Studio, with Reaper, but now I mainly work in Cakewalk by Bandlab (formerly Sonar). Unlike the previous two, it is free and at the same time relatively full-featured (although not very popular). An interesting detail: when creating what I will talk about next, I used exclusively free programs, plugins and other intellectual property. You can judge for yourself how much this is enough to create music.
Here is the final result:
https://www.reddit.com/useAlexMikkelsen/comments/11yi6gy/alex_mikkelsen_hello_world_ep_2021/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
So, after a long break in creativity, I decided to write something and remembered that Bandlab has another free DAW that you can work with right in the browser. There it is.
Bandlab
There are a lot of instruments and sounds here, it is easy to learn, so it can be useful for beginners.
Remembering my brilliant theory about composing melodies, I began to strum whatever was right on the keyboard. I am not very good at playing the piano, but nevertheless, after several approaches and many attempts, I composed the main melody for the synthesizer. Added bass and drums. It worked out well. Then, trying to keep up with the style of this melody, I composed the intro. And then the bridge after the main melody. Added a few more instruments. And so, little by little, the following picture came together.
Road (former Blizzard)
It may look menacing, but the project is actually not that difficult. Complex arrangements can have several dozen tracks.
I've heard the expression that music is a combination of the familiar and the unexpected. Following this principle, I tried to make sure that in each measure (rectangle) there was something new - the introduction of a new instrument or a new melody, or, on the contrary, silence.
And this is how the so-called piano roll looks like in this program, where the work with notes takes place. Here you can add, move, stretch and perform other manipulations within the law of your country.
Piano roll
Let's go further. And then I decided to do something cosmic, and, torturing the keyboard, knocked out a few notes from it. I set the tempo down, took a stringy synthesizer as an instrument, and it turned out to be ambient.
Home
As you can see, everything is even simpler here, but the composition does not get any worse from this. The cherry on top was an apparently Pink Floyd-inspired guitar solo. Also played on the keyboard, but in separate fragments, and adjusted to the rhythm.
As you can see, I like to copy melodies and scatter them on different instruments playing at the same time. Here it played a cruel joke on me, and by copying the synthesizer melody to the bass track in the beat before the solo, I got a peculiar, albeit dirty sound. It would be much better to have one note on the bass here, not two. But I don't think anyone really cares.
https://preview.redd.it/846jw1sqgapa1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0d77e2f9a01115c7af9ea866bcbe6298a0b0798
After creating this track, I got the crazy idea that it would be cool to publish this. But two compositions seemed to me a little, so I took out old records from the stash and finalized them. They are made in Cakewalk and look like this.
Hello World
Rainy
Yes, my narration looks like:
https://preview.redd.it/db61l7zycapa1.png?width=1026&format=png&auto=webp&s=0d40ff8c6084464ad4a98ba8a40cdce90318f016
But, as I said, creating an arrangement is the same often not very interesting enumeration of options, the result of which you see in the screenshots.
Let's say the arrangement is ready, and the nastiest part of the job comes - mixing. This is when a sound engineer adjusts the volume, pan (left / right), frequencies and effects for each individual track so that they sound organic and do not interfere with each other. I set up old projects right in the program, and saved two new ones as separate tracks and loaded them into Cakewalk. True, when saving to the recording, some kind of digital crackle appeared, which can be heard in some parts of the Road and Home tracks, but I suggest considering this as an artistic technique.
Mixing of Road
I must say that the mixing turned out pretty badly, and at the middle frequencies I have a mess, but I think that all this is compensated by great melodies).
https://preview.redd.it/3wteachcgapa1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=4973a5fbd3e0d711818d538cfbf8077410d0be13
The next stage is mastering. This is the preparation of the final recording for publication. Here, the volume adjustment, equalizer and so on also come into play, but this is now applied not to individual tracks, but to the track as a whole. Modern tracks are very loud and very compressed (this is when the loudest moments of the recording and the quietest ones are brought closer to the same average loudness value). The so-called "loudness war" led to this result. Once the producers discovered that the louder the recording, the brighter and more interesting it seems to the listener, and began to compete with each other in twisting the sliders. Thanks to this, the volume of the published music has been steadily growing over the past half century, and we will not be left out either). In addition, the recordings from one release should have the same volume so that the listener does not have to turn the knob at the beginning of each new track.
My mastering skills are even worse than mixing, but here the same Bandlab came to the rescue. The service provides free (which is important) mastering services in automatic mode: you upload a track to the site, and the program tries to put it in order. And, interestingly, she is good at it, although for professionals this approach will cause severe mental and maybe physical suffering.
https://preview.redd.it/iipn7p76dapa1.png?width=399&format=png&auto=webp&s=13efbbb86764cb76361b10e40aee08fe4f7e7205
I'll tell you a secret: individual people, professionals, should be engaged in mixing and mastering, since this is a painstaking and thankless process that can cause a lot of problems for a novice artist. It is a known fact that Billie Eilish recorded her debut album with her brother literally in the bedroom on not the most expensive equipment, and highly paid specialists in the studio were engaged in the subsequent processing. But this does not threaten us yet.
So, the tracks are ready, and they are even almost of the same volume (I messed up here too, obviously choosing different mixing styles for different tracks (see the picture above). Now you need to share them with others, and then collect praise, wait for letters from labels, fend off fans ...
The current time is such that even a schoolboy can send his music to all possible stores, and then collect money for listening (royalties). For this, there are special services - aggregators, which either for a fee or for a percentage of the proceeds send masterpieces to all sorts of itunes and spotifies. I decided that such a scale is not required specifically for this release - tracks in this genre have not achieved great popularity, and it will take too long to wait for the release on the platforms.
The first thing I did was upload my four-track mini-album to Soundcloud. I found some commercial licensed photos on free stock photo stocks and designed the album page and cover with them.
I also decided to make a video with my tracks and put it on Youtube. As a video editor, I used a not very convenient, but free Shotcut. The video featured the album cover on a black background and the song title underneath. Remembering that the standard Microsoft fonts are not very free for commercial use (you never know), I tried hard and found a suitable one on Google Fonts. On the one hand, the resulting picture looks quite stylish, but on the other hand, it is very cheap and creates some kind of tragic feeling. But that is what it is.
https://preview.redd.it/v0ez6df8dapa1.png?width=807&format=png&auto=webp&s=d63397f06e93263a3b1158d5f75382ebbcd62e4c
I saved the result at 720p, but, interestingly, YouTube itself added 1080p from somewhere else, apparently so that you can enjoy a black screen in HD format.
I also made my own Coub for each song, suitable for the style, and also published it, but there is no particular activity there.
I must say that I do not count on any particular popularity of these four compositions. Yes, in my opinion, there are good tunes (and this is the most important thing), but this is not the kind of music that hits the charts. What I have composed is the first steps, acquaintance. That is why the mini-album is called Hello World.
Actually, that's it. Thanks for your attention!

2023.03.22 14:03 PublicPie1356 Fighting camera speeding ticket (Ohio, US)

I recently received a speeding ticket in the mail from a notorious village in Ohio. The cop sits on an off ramp with a LiDAR mounted camera and takes pictures of cars driving by on a major highway.
I hate these types of tickets as they don’t promote safety and are just there pure revenue but I still would have paid it had I been driving. The problem is I wasn’t driving, a family member was. The car is registered to me.
On the ticket, it gives three options: pay the ticket, declare someone else was driving and put their contact info down, or contest it in court. The ticket is written under their municipal code as per ORC they cannot write camera tickets under ORC so it’s just a civil ticket.
I want to fight it just because I wasn’t driving. I also don’t feel like ratting out my family member. The only pictures they have is of the rear is the vehicle. My plan is to contest it by showing evidence I was not driving, which I have plenty of as I drive a company vehicle during work hours and was not in that area of the state that day and time.
Because they don’t have a picture of who was driving my argument with the prosecutor would be that I provided proof I wasn’t driving, you can’t prove who was, so it needs dropped. I would just not pay it but my job regularly checks my credit and criminal record, so a nonpayment would potentially cost me my job.
Can they force me to pay even if I provide proof I wasn’t driving? And can they compel me to rat out my family member? I am fairly familiar with the criminal law side of things but I’m not sure how the civil side works with these kinds of tickets. I wanted to ask before I replied to the court.

2023.03.22 14:02 mikejared Nyc housing case question

My landlord brought a weak case against me in nyc housing court. The landlord attorney then realized his errors and wanted a discontinuance.
The discontinuance would have to be mutual so we basically agreed to a settlement instead.
However, my attorney crafted the settlement as a $O judgement in favor of plaintiff.
Was I screwed by my attorney? Should it have been a dismissal with a stip or settlement?
I'm worried that it will look negative for future rental apps.

Need help from a Ingress player to change a location.
Hi guys. So I hope that it is someone here, that really want and have a little time to help me correct a location of a wayspot that is only showing in Ingress and not in Pokemon GO, because they are both placed in the same cell. So someone created a long time ago this wayspot marked by me with red named "Primaria Fagaras". And as you can see on the map, the location was added wrong by that person. The actual location is in the other cell marked by me, and you can even see the name of the place being the same as the one of the nomination. I hope someone can help me correct this, and maybe change the location where I marked with blue, because the entire building is the correct location, but I want to create another wayspot in the other empty cell.
Here are to coordinates of that location if you want to help me, because I'm not using Ingress, and the wayspot is not showing in Pokemon GO to change it by my self. 45.8443053, 24.9706067
Thanks all!

2023.03.22 13:53 Wise_Hobo_Badger Anything players can do when encountering hackers?

So I have been encountering hackers recently at a more frequent rate, I have a feeling this is only going to become more frequent as long as the devs are not doing much about it so I was just curious, what is the best way for players to go about dealing with this. After much searching I found that there is a way to report people on their website which they tell you to send proof along with your ticket and such but somehow I get the feeling if I do that, my ticket will somehow find it's way in a dark corner and be forgotten about without anything happening to the offending players. Am I correct in this? is there no in game way to report players? Do the devs have any plans at all to make an attempt to deal with the growing hacker problem? or is this game just doomed to become a barren wasteland of cheaters pushing away legit players and slowly killing the game? Because if the latter is the case then I might stop wasting my time and just move on from this game.
Disclaimer I am not a new player, I have played this game on and off since like season 4 or so and I have never encountered hackers like what I have in the last few months.
