Thanks
u/TheWickedQueen_ for the commission!
This was a six dollar commission so once the commissioner gets a crack at the script it becomes public for anybody that wants it!
I've always kinda disliked the "sexy mafia dude/gal is all into you" cliche. I've always felt that criminals are either romanticized or demonized in fiction, like a slightly less creepy Madonna vs Whore complex. As somebody that grew up in an area with a lot of Ex-cons I wanted to make something more down to earth and explore what its like to be an ex-con a little bit ( I think I've just watched
The Wire too much lol).
Also this city isn't based on any real place although I think its probably in the American rust belt somewhere. Its named after the city from
Revolt of the Cockroach people Archive:
https://www.reddit.com/ASMRScriptHaven/comments/x9hb9v/script_archive/ If you like what I'm doing swing by my Ko-Fi! And DM me if you want a commission of your own! :
https://ko-fi.com/timeraft You've been coming to this seedy hole in the wall bar for a while, and it's not exactly for the food or the ambiance. No, it's because you've got a massive crush on the former-criminal-turned-bartender who runs the place. You know she doesn't see you that way, but for now, you're happy just to spend time with her and listen to her stories. But today, you'll realize just how badly she's misunderstood your intentions.
Dialogue
Context SFX Listener is a quiet shy type living in the inner city(probably early to late 20’s). Speaker is an ex mob boss turned bartender(Probably mid-30’s-early 40’s). They like spending time with the listener and telling stories, but they see a little more of themselves in the young person than they’d like. And how's my favorite little regular customer on this hot summer night?
You feel that south wind blowing up Saginaw Highway? All hot and dry and smelling like the smog that usually stays way down in the valley? That means it's gonna be a scorcher. So make sure you stay hydrated tomorrow.
Rough day eh? I suppose I can relate. I admire you for sticking it out though, for what it's worth I never could myself. I never took to working, and I paid for it.
I’m surprised you don't have anywhere better to be. What I wouldn't give to be your age again, all alone just before sunset in the dog days of summer. You sure there's no pretty girl out there, just waiting on you to show up at her door and ask if she’s too busy for a little dancing?
No girl? Is there a boy?
Not that either eh? A good looking little thing like you with no place better to be than my little hole in the wall bar. Makes me wonder what you’re really after. I don't suppose you’re here for my pretty face either.
Sets glass on bar Drink up kid, it's on the house. Finish it up and leave. Don't come round here no more.
Don't give me that look. It's not anything you did.
Listen, you're a good kid. You don't want to hear this, but you’re innocent. Pure as fresh fallen snow. I’d kill to get half of that innocence for myself.
I know you’ve figured out that my regulars are all criminals or ex-cons, they come in here to take a load off. Or sometimes talk shop. I don't care about them, they’re all too far gone for somebody like me to be able to pull them back, but I can stop you at least.
This isn't a place for somebody like you. So finish your drink. And leave.
You remind me of a younger me. The dissatisfied ambitious youngblood, who felt like they weren't going to get anywhere in life unless they were willing to take serious risks.
I spent a lot of time in a place just like this, trying to rub elbows with the people I looked up to.
I told you all the stories before, but what the hell, how about a refresher.
It took a while, but I got in and I was pretty good at it.
Real good.
There was a time not too long ago where I ran this whole neighborhood. Ran the numbers game for a while, that was safe but the returns weren’t the millions I dreamed of so I moved on to more dangerous stuff.
Turned out I was good at that too. Too good. People got hurt. I need you to understand that.
I hurt people. A lot of people. More than I ever got punished for.
And it got me what I wanted. Power. Money. Respect. Fear.
It couldn't last though. You can never be on top all the time.
The sheriffs and the staties couldn't touch me, but I got sloppy with my money and the revenuers locked me up. That's typically how it goes.
I spent ten years in Terre Haute, eight behind bars and two working at the baking powder factory. When I got back to Tooner Flats everything I built was gone, all I had left was this building. I’d never even been inside before. I just used it to launder money.
You ever spend any time in a prison? I know you’re aware it's not a fun time, but you know what really kills you? It's not the gangs or the guards. It's the boredom.
Time slips away from you, but also seems to pass so slow that it's like trying to carve your name in dry cement.
You try to keep your feet on the ground, but you can't all the time.
You get up in the morning at 6, get counted at six fifteen, eat your oatmeal at six thirty, grab a full eight assembling office furniture for the feds. Two hours of rec time, outside if you’re really well behaved. Eat dinner, green Jello on fridays, red Jello every other day. Bed inspection. Choose between the library or the movie. Go to your bunk, lights out.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
I went mad for most of year four, came back around to something close to sanity in year six. I never really fully recovered though. I cant really complain I suppose, I deserved to be in there. A lot of people have been in there a lot longer for a lot less.
Here, I want you to try something
Opens a bag of chips and pours them into a bowl This is a brand of chips they had in the canteen out there in Indiana. You can't normally get this brand outside of prison. I picked up a few bags on ebay because every now and then I find myself craving it. They’re flavored with whatever flavor dust the day shift at the chip factory didn’t use up, so they’ve got a lot going on. Try a couple.
Crunch Kinda gross right? Wayyyy too much flavor and it all clashes weird. It's like licking the floor at Dollar general.
But believe me. They hit differently when you’re wearing orange and black.
When everything feels and looks the same day and day out, you start craving sensation. Any sensation. This absolute overload of flavor felt like heaven. The closest I ever saw to a riot was the saturday they opened the canteen without a fresh stock of these.
You go a little crazy in there. Just looking for anything to silence that steady drumbeat of monotony. I got really into the twilight books when they were coming out. I know somebody that spent a long time in solitary who spent their time touching cold metal, waiting for it to get warm, letting go and touching it again when it got cold again. Anything to break up the void.
When I look back at those two years where I was on top of the world, they weren't worth it. They weren't worth my time in Indiana. I don't want you to make the same mistakes I did.
Downs a drink and slams down the glass My dad won't even talk to me now.
He was a nurse, down at the VA clinic on Cleveland Boulevard. It’s closed now, I think they tore it down and built a Costco. Back when I was a kid it was still seen as emasculating for a man to take that job, but he was good at it and it paid enough for him to raise me on his own after mom died. I felt ashamed though.
He was a good honest man, and I spent my childhood ashamed of him. And then threw away everything he ever gave me to pursue life as a bigshot.
I tried to visit him the other day. He lives in a trailer park on the other side of old highway nine, way down in the valley now. I could see him in there, on his chair watching the hockey game.
He could see me. I knocked and we made eye contact, but he never stirred from his chair.
I suppose I’m dead to him,and I don't blame him. I just wish to god I wasn't.
So finish that drink and leave. If I see you around again I’ll break your arms.
Listener swears they don't come around because they want to be criminal Oh no? You’re not in the market for a life of crime? Why do you come around then? Riddle me that. I know it's not for the drinks, I can't mix a cocktail to save my life, and I know it's not for the company. What are you an undercover cop or something?
My stories? You're pulling my leg! I’m just old and full of shit. Next thing you're gonna say you’ve got some sort of crush on me.
Listener does not deny it. No
Nooooo
Oh god. You’re kidding.
Hysterical laughter What in the name of Peter and Jane is wrong with you!?
Look at me. I’ve easily got ten years on you. I'm going grey and getting wrinkles.
I’ve got callouses from the prison shop and dark circles around my eyes that won't go away no matter how much I try to sleep. My hands are cold and my face is sad. Little kids cry when they see me at the grocery store.
You deserve some passionate young woman with stars in her eyes. Mine are just empty and tired. I don't have passion in me anymore.
Hell I don't even do anything anymore. All I want to do at the end of the day is make myself some oatmeal and watch the rerun channel. You can do better.
You can do a lot better.
I really can't talk you out of it?
Well who am I to deny you the right to make terrible choices? You can't say I didn't warn you about me. You damn fool.
I’ll tell you what. This place is dead tonight, what do you say we go dancing?
On one condition. You stop hanging around here. If this works it works and we’ll hang out someplace else. And if it doesnt I dont need you floating around like a sad little puppy.
Deal? Good
They kiss the listener on the cheek. Go back home and clean up a bit, I’ll go upstairs and do the same. It’s ballroom night at the Falcons lodge. I haven't danced in ages and I want to see if I’ve still got it. We’ll see where that south wind takes us from there.
I’ll see you in an hour. On the dot. If you panic now and stand me up I might straight up break your legs.
God you’re an idiot

| My first instinct would be the coast due to trade. I don’t want a California City situation where the environment was a huge obstacle in its creation(along with developmental issues). But humans want something done, they’ll make it happen. Is there any barren locations that could logically result in the creation of a city? I don’t want to just slam the city in a place that’s already taken. The reason I’m making my own is because I want to design it from the top down. submitted by Dry-Programmer5771 to worldbuilding [link] [comments] |
2023.05.30 22:47 Slight-Anteater-8390 One Year, One Week old Tesla Model 3
https://instagram.com/p/Cs4YM80SDRt/ 1 year. 1 week. Owned Blastoise for 53 weeks and man… what an awesome experience. Took this car everywhere from Los Angeles (a couple of times), to Portland (countless times), to San Francisco, to Vancouver, BC, to Cascade mountains, to Ocean Shores, to Long Beach and daily driving, totaling 35,329 miles driven.
Was skeptical about electric vehicles, especially battery degeneration but so far, it seems like the battery is still very healthy.
How do I know it’s very healthy? With a small sample from today’s driving, drove 183 miles and the car consumed 38 kWh. With an efficiency of 207 Watt hour (Wh) per mile. Averaging 60 mph and outside temp about 70 F. Blastoise has a 75 kWh battery pack. Math breakdown: With an efficiency of 207 Wh/mi. 1 kWh = 4.831 miles. 75 kWh x 4.831 = 362 miles. On a good day, this car can still travel over 350 miles in one full charge. Now that’s amazing!
In larger sample size. Blastoise traveled 35,329 miles, averaging 239 watt hour per mile and consumed a total of 8,430 kWh. After driving all four season in various weather conditions and driving conditions, in one full charge, Blastoise can go about 313 miles. 45 miles less then an EPA range of 358 miles. Approximately 87% battery life remain. But that number is arbitrary. I expect during warmer months the efficiency will be better and the battery degradation will improve. All in all, this 2022 Tesla Model 3 is absolutely amazing!
Let’s talk about money saved compared to gas. My previous car was a 2010 Honda Civic.
In the past year, IF I drove the Civic 35,000 miles, it would have consumed 1,000 gallons of gasoline. I would have paid roughly $4,300 in gas. *(Civic mpg is about 35mpg, average gas price for the past year I’d say is ROUGHLY $4.30/gal)
Past year, I drove Blastoise about 35,329 miles consumed 8,430 kWh and it would have costed $917 in electricity IF I charged at home the whole time but I didn’t. Did some super charging on road trips, so I estimated $1,100 in total electricity cost counting both at home charging and super charging. *(Blastoise efficiency is 239 Wh, with an average electricity rate of .11 cents and super charging )
Saving me roughly $3,200. Also did no maintenance except adding windshield fluid and occasionally add air to the tires, which is free at Costco, and tire rotations, which is also free at discount tires. All in all savings of over $3,500!!!

However, it will take 2-3 hours to get to this airport. Another airport is a small one which is the hub of Breeze Airway. However, it will take 45 minutes to get there
* Do you have any cards you've been looking at?
- I am wondering between Chase SP and AMEX Gold.
- I got rejected when applying WF Autograph, and I am also keeping eye on Citi Premier, but I heard the customer service is not that good
- I think I will not look at Venture X since we only fly once a year, and we don't fly internationally
- I think my current setup will be WF Active Cash for 2% everything else, Citi Custom Cash for 5% gas, and either CSP or AMEX gold for dining and travel.
- I am open to any suggestions. I am planning to stick to the setup for a long time as I am not a churner player

2023.05.30 16:50 momplaysbass Appointment for fixing a flat?!?
I picked up a nail over the weekend, and my dad & I put the doughnut tire on. Costco was closed Monday, and I showed up today (Tuesday) to get my tire fixed. He asked if I had an appointment. Before I could contain my snark I replied that I couldn't schedule a flat tire. They are fixing it, and I should be out of here by noon, but do you really need to make appointments to get a flat fixed? Especially since the wait time is still 1.5 hours either way?
Not really a rant, more bemusement.
Update: fixed in an hour.

2023.05.30 16:06 OnTheEdgeOfFreedom Three long term problems
This isn’t a doomsday piece; in fact it’s sort of in opposition to the idea that we’re facing a sudden collapse. But I do think harder times are coming in the US, and for many they are already hard. I’m going to throw out problems I personally see coming, and propose some preparations. I think these are realistic concerns – you won’t see nuclear war listed here. Note these are all long term concerns – 5-50 years – but preparations should begin as soon as possible. This is mostly centered on the US, but I think some of it is universal. 1. Grid problems. The US power grid has not been well maintained, and it doesn’t help that we now have occasional radical bozos who take pot shots at substations. (There’s also the risk that a foreign adversary might launch a cyberattack that affects the grid, but I consider it unlikely – they’d get a war they don’t want, for their troubles.) I don’t think CMEs are as much of a concern as some people here think – we can see those coming – but they have caused localized disruptions in a few places over the last 50 years (Canada had problems in March of 1989, though they recovered in less than a day.) Most of the risk, in my opinion, is just more extreme weather – hurricanes, extreme heat, wildfires and ice storms can all knock our power for days. A day’s power failure is an inconvenience to most people – houses don’t freeze or cook, food doesn’t go bad, you might have to resort of a battery powered radio for entertainment. Three days, though, means food will start to go bad, and people on wells are resorting to bottled water. Some folk will literally start to go hungry by a week, and gas can be in short supply, so transportation can be hard. By two weeks, problems can get serious. Solar power is often touted as a solution. It’s a good approach, but not a panacea. Buffalo NY had a blizzard recently that immobilized the city for days, and cloud cover was persistent. Solar solutions stopped working. In some areas this is not a concern; in others, solar just isn’t workable. Preps: solar if it works for you and you can afford it. A generator if you can afford it and are willing to store gasoline or propane (10 gallons/20 pounds at least) is a go to in some areas, but it’s not a maintenance free solution. (Run a generator at least once a month for at least a half hour if it’s gasoline powered, every six months if it’s propane.) But there’s a more workable solution that often gets overlooked – be able to live without electricity entirely, when you need to. This means manual can openers, dry ice for cooling food, propane camp stoves, non-perishable food supplies, stored water, oil or propane or kerosene lamps for light, board games, thick blankets and sleeping bags, solar cookers in some areas, a bucket for sponge baths, and batteries for flashlights and radios. And if it’s practical – for folk with kids, especially in school, it isn’t always – spend a day a month without power, to test your preps. Flip the circuit breaker and get to work. The first few times you try it, you learn a lot. Will fusion come and save they day? Maybe, but fusion is at least 10 years out and no one thinks it’s going to be cheap. I would assume the worst when it comes to energy availability (and cost) in your lifetime. 2. The next pandemic These happen and they will happen again. We’ve all learned the drill. Covid took out a million plus Americans, and it took a year to really get effective mitigation going. The mitigation were phenomenal and became available in record time, and they represent a new standard for pandemics, but the human cost in terms of job loss, difficulties in getting supplies, additional expenses for some, national debt, and just plain social isolation still took a toll that no one but epidemiologists were expecting. It could be tomorrow or two hundred years, but it will happen again. It’s a rare generation that won’t see one going forward. The next one could be mild or vastly deadly; there’s no predicting that. We know the drill on this; what’s important now is passing the lessons along to the next generation. Stock masks, have a financial cushion of at least 6 months if you can, do what you can online instead of in person when pandemics hit, practice hygiene religiously. (Hand sanitizer was a minor player in the war against Covid, which turned out to be airborne, but it’s key against many diseases.) Luckily, preps for pandemics are not that different than preps for major weather events – you might get stranded in your house for 2-4 weeks during extreme peaks or lockdowns. 3. Job loss and inflation Without getting into a discussion of late-stage capitalism or general doomerism, none of which I believe in, there’s one unmistakable trend over the last few decades, and it’s that jobs are just harder to find and keep in many disciplines. It’s not just AI that’s raising questions – it’s ongoing social shifts that are moving wealth up the social ladder and making it hard to get a fair share of what’s going around. It’s international bad actors disrupting supply chains, it’s plain old advances in technology disrupting entire industries. People used to joke about using their college degrees to flip burgers – the joke is less funny today because automation is coming for burger flippers, as well as truckers, taxi drivers, farmers, marketers… Having a financial cushion that last 6 months seems like a cruel joke to many, who are having problems stocking a week’s food. But it’s never been more essential, because every social problem ripples into job losses in the end. Social unrest? Weather events? War in another part of the world? Changes in the tax code? It all affects someone’s bottom line, and long gone are the days when businesses would take the hit and protect their workers. Now workers are the first things cut. And that won’t change anytime soon. All I can suggest is, partner with neighbors to share money saving ideas, put every penny you can into whatever savings you can manage, do group buys to cut costs and have supplies on hand, and know about every social support system out there. SNAP was a lifesaver for a lot of people during the pandemic peaks. Food pantries exist in many towns and will save you money. Learn to trim electricity usage to the bone. Fight to keep medical insurance as long as you can, because there’s not many calamities worse than have to choose between skipping critical medical treatments and poverty. -- Folk will note that I didn’t list climate change. Yes, I think it’s very real. But for just about everyone, the problems show up indirectly. The southwest US is drying up, and that won’t change in your lifetime – but you’ll see it in increased water costs (inflation) and grid issues. Food choices will change – sooner or later, meat will become a luxury item and food costs in general will rise further. Diseases may spread more easily and evolve faster as climate migrations of both people and animals create new mixes of pathogens. It’s not that people will drown as oceans rise up overnight, but more areas will become more expensive to live in, as weather damage increases, insurance rates go up, more electricity gets used to compensate for temperature extremes… in the US, climate change is an economic problem... at least at first. Folk will note that I didn’t list rising fascism, which is becoming a measurable trend worldwide, and the US is in no way immune. I don’t have a prep for this: all you can do is vote, or, ultimately, move if you can. These things come in waves and all I can do is hope this one passes before we trigger much worse problems than we already have. As much as social unrest is on everyone’s mind and politics has started driving violence in the US, the prep is to get on with your life, live peaceably with your neighbor regardless of his politics or skin pigmentation, disconnect from disinformation, and vote for people who don’t tell you who you should hate. Troubles don’t come if no one starts them. Folk will note I didn’t add disinformation to the list. I actually think this is a major concern and that most people have no idea how much chaos it causes. Disinformation campaigns over Covid cost (at my own estimate) 300,000 unnecessary deaths in the US. They’re feeding extremism and causing people to turn their back on democratic institutions, like elections. In a very real way, it’s the biggest problem facing the US today, but… the only prep is don’t listen to the bullshit. And I’ve come to the conclusion that there are simply a lot of people who love to listen to bullshit and have no way to determine when they’re being lied to and manipulated. So I don’t have a prep for this. Online I block people to seem to embrace bullshit, but the problem is still out there, and I’ve come to the conclusion that people who are swept up in it, wanted to be swept up in it and there’s no cure for that. Haters gonna hate. All I can suggest is, spend more time in the garden and less online. Vegetables don’t hate anybody.

2023.05.30 15:41 sf1649ers80 Dealership in northeast under msrp
Hello, I am looking for a new 2023 hybrid sport with bsi but having a hard time finding a dealer without a markup or some bs fees.
I tried the Costco program and called that dealership. They actually did give me $550 off msrp but then added some bs package that included pinstriping, door edge guards and fabric leather protection for $1250 which I am thinking is not worth it.
I am located in eastern long island, ny but am willing to travel quite a bit to get a better deal under msrp (without bs addons).
Someone actually was really helpful in pointing me to a dealership with a really solid deal but it's a 24 hour drive away so hoping to avoid that if possible!

2023.05.30 15:28 metalsynkk How to get rich with sampling space mushrooms, a tl;dr
"Hello, I'm CMDR Havok Mustang and this is my favorite fungus on the Citadel."
There's a lot of scattered info and/or long guides with too much info but I am gonna speedrun any% with only the real important info for the people that just want to (ab)use this to make hella cash.
You
need three things: a
small ship with a decent jump range + fuel scoop, an Artemis suit from your local station shop, and
Elite Observatory with the
BioInsights plugin.
1) Go out about 1000ly or so from the bubble; further is optional but slightly better.
2) Set your star filter to KGBFOAM and plot an economic route to anywhere.
3) Press 'start monitor' in Observatory and just honk + FSS the systems you go through. You will see stuff pop up in the app as well as overlayed onto your game. If there's nothing in the app, next system, keep it moving.
Important: A planet can already be discovered
and mapped, but if it has no first footfall recorded yet, you will get that 5x payout bonus.
4) If it says "Stratum Tectonicas" anywhere in BioInsights, go DSS the planet and land in the blue-green-ish zone and find it. Unless it's 10+kLs away, then it's not worth the flight.
This is what it looks like. Yes, the app will tell you it's ~19mil, but you're gonna be getting
~95mil because of the 5x payout bonus if it's a first footfall.
5) Take your 3 samples,
let the canister animation play FULLY and
then enter your ship, and fuck off to the next body/system. Ignore everything else, it's not worth it if you simply want the money grind. It's only worth it if say, there's another bio signal that's worth 15+mil (so 75+ with the bonus) and it's found on the same terrain type as the Stratum. Otherwise, keep going instead, it's not worth leaving and re-entering the atmosphere just for that.
If you die for
any reason you lose all your samples.
That's it. Boring? Yes. Probably mind-numbing after more than a few hours? Absolutely. But hella space dollar tho.
tl;dr done. Happy sampling, CDMRs.
For people who want to read a bit more, here's an addendum for further safety and/or efficiency:
1) You can use your composition scanner on the ship to scan the bio sigs you're pointing at. BioInsights will tell you the value in an overlay (on top of inside the app) if you do this.
2) Flying low over a planet's surface can be a bit dangerous sometimes so keeping 4 pips in shields and landing gear deployed is helpful.
3) Owning a carrier (or having one nearby) is a big boon to quickly turn your stuff in. Vista Genomics
does not take a cut, unlike Universal Cartographics. You will always get full value for your samples.
4) First footfalls are instant and are logged as such. If you have it, all bio sigs you sample will have the 5x bonus even if someone else turns them in first.
5) Don't bother with an SRV. The deploy + board animations are a massive waste of time, it's so much easier and quicker just flying at a 45-degree angle with your ship over the surface.
6) BioInsights is pretty accurate but not 100%. Sometimes it will show more bio sigs than there are on the planet. DSS'ing the planet usually marks the false predicted entries with a cross.

| https://preview.redd.it/uo8bonc5ly2b1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3464f763feeb065ac9c618441ee6c6bafb3a2c0 A wedding should be an unforgettable experience for the happy couple. This means the wedding itself has to stand out. There are several opportunities to leave a lasting impression on wedding attendees. A boat hire is a fantastic option for making special memories. Therefore, whether you are a bride or groom planning a wedding, you should consider renting a boat. Several options exist, including the full ceremony or simply the reception aboard a boat. Having your wedding on boat charters NYC has several advantages. Among them are: Get an unforgettable experience You may be certain that your wedding will not be a "cookie-cutter" event if you choose a boat rental. A wedding aboard a boat will surely be an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. A wedding on a boat is sure to be memorable for all the right reasons, especially compared to the typical venues of gardens and banquet halls. Arrange a spectacular event A boat wedding NY should not only be remarkable but also striking. Boats have long been seen as symbols of luxury and wealth. Therefore, a boat charter is a way to go if you want your wedding to have an air of luxury and splendor. It's a stunning spectacle in and of itself. Guest numbers are easy to manage When they find out that your wedding will take place on a boat, guests thinking of showing up uninvited to your celebration may rethink their decision to do so. You'll be able to spend more quality time with each visitor if you keep the guest list small, so these gatherings lend themselves well to being more personal. Comprehensive Packages Available Many boat charters NYC have full wedding packages that include everything from a planner to the food and drink to the cake and tableware. Some even have a DJ on staff and a disco ball in the lounge. The Captain is often a legally ordained minister as well. The Maitre d', bartenders, marine crew, and service personnel are all highly qualified professionals, so you can take it easy and enjoy your day. Minimize expenses This is an inevitable result because of the intimate nature of a boat wedding NY. Catering expenses, for example, may be kept to a minimum when fewer people feed. While most people think of large costs when they hear the term boat wedding, it is possible to save money by hiring a boat rental for your wedding. Avail the advantages of mobility A boat can move in different directions. Because of this, one portion of the wedding ceremony on a boat may occur in one location, while the other portion of the ceremony takes place in another location, all while the guests remain in luxury during the whole event. You may take beautiful wedding photographs by traveling to scenic locales. Take outdoor wedding vows Getting married on the sea is a visual treat because of the magnificent port, coastline, and skyline vistas, not to mention the chance of a spectacular sunset. The images from your wedding will turn out beautifully, and your guests will remember the breathtaking scenery for a long time. If you plan it correctly, you can serve beverages to your delighted visitors as the sun goes down during the legendary golden hour. Conclusion Having your wedding on lavish boat charters NYC are a great way to make it more special. Even though there are rules and regulations to follow, the location makes the event special. If you're planning your wedding, a reputable event planning company can provide a waterside location and use their refurbished antique boat. submitted by sailawaynyc to u/sailawaynyc [link] [comments] |
2023.05.30 11:40 NYVK_0 Pc constantly freezing and then crashing
Around I wanna say 2 or 2 and a half years ago max I got a new pc that upgraded my old one (was old and didn't function correctly since I had a bad habit of never turning off my pc), it was a pre-built Lenovo Legion one from like Costco or something like that but it was good and worked pretty well.
It all worked pretty well but ever since like a year ago I think? I keep having this same problem where my pc will just crash randomly and freeze completely, something playing a dragged out sound and sometimes pure quiet, then it restarts after like 2 minutes usually thought there was one time where it just never restarted and I manually shut it off (which is what I usually do since I don't really feel like waiting the 2 or 3 minutes for a restart not sure if it makes it worse but I didn't do it ever beforehand so idk.
I've tried catching the error code once and it seemed to say "dpc watchdog violation", though I'm not sure if any other codes appear at other times when it crashes. It also crashes completely randomly with no correlation, I'm playing a videogame? There's a chance it will crash, I'm watching a show? Chance it will crash, doing homework for college on the browser or whatever else? Chance it will crash, so I don't think there's a specific trigger.
I've been ignoring it for like a year since usually after it crashes once I'll be able to use the pc for a good few hours straight without interruptions (though there's been cases where i had to wait for a second or even third crash), but now after it crashed while I was playing through a game I've decided maybe I should ask online for help. I thought that maybe switching to windows 11 would help since it might just fix some hardware or software, but it still crashes, only difference is that back in windows 10 after it restarted from a crash the audio would be completely missing for some reason, which was the main reason I mainly shut off the pc since if I did that the audio wouldn't just vanish.
I can try to state or find any relevant system info if it's needed but that's only for the next few days since I'll be shortly flying overseas to visit my family which means I obviously won't have access to the pc for the time being.
I appreciate any help I get and sorry for the long post!

2023.05.30 09:06 WeWannaKnow I understand people who (you know what) after a few years of losing their person
I'm a year and 7 months out. Mid 40. We were married for 17 years and together for 20. He died suddenly at 50 of sudden cardiac arrhythmia at his work desk.
My husband and I did everything together. We were attached to the hips. Two best friends going through life together. The only thing we didn't do is go to work together. Everything else, we were always together.
When we weren't together, we still managed to text and talk on the phone anyways. Always communicating while he worked night shifts.
My goal was to be more independent after his death.
I booked a tattoo (I collect them) 2 hours away from my town. Booked a hotel and I'm currently staying at a hotel by myself for the first time in my life. It's crazy but going through the check-in alone. Walking the hotel hallway. Carrying my own luggage. All of that, alone.. Is making me realize I don't wanna do this again. I don't wanna do it all alone.
My next step would be a trip by airplane alone. TSA, security, boarding. All alone. I'm not sure I can do it.
But I also don't wanna not live. I want to travel and do something with my life. But, solo? Again? It's hard. So what will my life be? Go to Costco alone once a week. Movie alone, and thats it?
I also don't wanna meet anyone new as I'm not ready.
And I don't want this loneliness to weight on me forever. Because it's suffocating. And yea I talk to him every day in my head. To the point where I'm thinking I'm becoming schizophrenic.
But I think I do understand people who aren't strong enough to keep going through life by themselves.

2023.05.30 07:38 wedgemel WE’VE GOT A $37K WINNER😎
2023.05.30 07:35 annieoats Unsure about hours I should be paid
I’m attending a multiple-day conference in another province. I got picked up at home at 430 am and my boss and I went to the airport. We arrived at the hotel at about 9 pm, after renting a car and travelling several hours. We stopped at Costco and a mall because my boss forgot his watch at home and wanted to buy a new one. How many hours should I be paid for this day? (Sources would be awesome, I wasn’t able to find anything specific when I googled) Also, we participated in a golf tournament the following day which lasted about 8 hours, and I was expected to participate in activities for business development purposes during the evening. How should these hours be calculated? The third day was more business development, about 8 hours but spread out from about 9 in the morning until 9pm. How many for this day? And the last day was travel. Leaving the hotel at 10am, flight at 6 pm, home by midnight. (Time zone differential included) Can anyone help me figure out the failegal way to calculate these hours? I want to err more on the fair side, so I’m ok with not getting paid all those hours, but my boss only wants to pay me 8 hours a day, which I believe is unfair. I would appreciate all opinions and facts to back me up as I’m dealing with a sociopath. Thank you!!
Edit: my employer is paying for food/hotel expenses. Edit 2: I live in Alberta and the conference was in the Eastern time zone.
