Fair warning, this is a fuckton of gushing and I know it’s corny, but I’m happy for so many reasons, want this to be out in the ether, and this is the one place I can shout it from the rooftops.
I found him out of sheer luck in probably the worst place to find people (i.e., this very cesspool of the internet). He started as an acquaintance who I knew would like to fuck me, and I 100% tried to friendzone him because I didn’t want something long distance, and spectacularly failed. He found the perfect balance of making his continued interest clear while being respectful of boundaries I set, and proved to be a very helpful friend of good character. I never felt like he’d be pissy about just being my friend, he simply proved to me over time that he was worth the distance. He always had this underlying vibe of confidence that if he just kept being his awesome self, I’d figure it out. I fell for him way more than I was ever planning to.
One year ago today, we met for the first time, and it just fit. His hand just fit on the small of my back, I just fit between him and the wall, his presence just fit in my life. All the logistical reasons it wouldn’t work out or would be inconvenient felt small. Now he’s the one non-family person I’m sure will always be in my life. He removes the noise. When I’m with him, I’m home and I know everything will be okay.
He met me at a time in my life when I wasn’t showing myself the love or respect I deserved, and he’s made it his mission to get me to realize how I should be treated, especially by myself.
This has been the best year of my life. Not measured in wild stories my friend wants me to turn into an HBO series or in material achievements – though there have been both of those. But in realizing my sense of self, in feeling safe and secure, and becoming a stronger person. Ultimately, that’s my doing. But if nothing else, having him in my life has been an amazing catalyst, guide, and incentive. (Frankly, I knew if I wanted him to remain in my life, I needed to get with it.) For the first time in a long time, I am living my life in a way that I am happy to take 100% ownership of.

He saw past the “together” façade, past the annoying and amusing ways my hurt and emotional unavailability expressed itself, and saw the resilient and kind woman underneath. I got extremely lucky he’s as good a man as he is to not take advantage of that. Definitely cashed in all my built-up good karma on that one. But in the second half of this year, we’ve dug a lot deeper, and I feel like I truly see him now, including his faults, as much as you can ever truly see another person. I’m with him because I wake up every day excited to choose him again. Though we have different life experiences and perspectives, I think we have a very similar soul.
He’s my friend, confidant, mentor, lover, sponsor, partner, and protector. All in a deeper way than he’s my boyfriend.
And he’s all those things with actions, not just lip service. When I need him, he’s there. He cares about my inner world, and has let me entirely into his. When I have questions about random life shit I haven’t come across yet, he knows the answer. This relationship is far from the only reason I’m sober, but his support is a big ass part of the reason I achieved that. I know I can always count on him telling me the truth, instead of telling me things that might be easier to hear. He makes it a priority that I’m cared for, happy, strong, and safe. If someone hurt me, he’d make sure they felt a world of pain.
He’s had experiences he could have easily used as excuses to become jaded, bitter, unmotivated, or selfish, but instead he worked hard, took risks, has been honest and introspective with himself, and remains a romantic at heart. He is intelligent, insightful, responsible, vulnerable, and empathetic. He genuinely cares for and supports those around him, from me, to his family, to his friends, to his community. Beyond all that, he has humility and honor. He is tired and stressed 99% of the time so that he can be sure those he cares for are secure and can count on him, and still finds time to be an amazing and involved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and the most caring and supportive partner.
He taught me that I can feel safe with a man, that I don’t need to feel bad about myself after sex, that fights don’t need to exist, that I can bring up concerns and needs without fear of being turned into the bad guy and ending up sleep deprived from arguing until 4am. He’s given me the positive reinforcement needed so that I actually look forward to having and resolving serious conversations, I no longer freeze and hyperventilate. I can be vulnerable and open with him because when he’s seen me at my worst he pulls me up, instead of standing over me screaming. He’s happy when I make social connections, instead of rewarding that behavior with abuse. He encourages me to have high expectations of him and, in return, has high expectations for me.
All of his actions over the last year have shown that he wants to make my life better, that he respects me, that he’ll keep me safe, and that he’ll give me an authentic version of himself. He’s the only man I’ve met who I 100% trust, respect, and admire.
And oddly, being with him has helped me realize that I can be happy alone. I know if the romantic aspect of this relationship ever ended, I wouldn’t feel a need to date again just to not be single. I feel secure that I deserve things, not that I have to earn the most minimal treatment by suffering for it. I know that if he ever broke my trust or I felt disrespected, I would stand up for myself. This is the first relationship where I feel like I’m choosing him because he deserves it instead of debasing myself to prove I should be chosen, and I’m never going back from the secure attachment that comes with that.
It might be better if I didn’t have to relearn those things, but I also wouldn’t appreciate where I am today as much. Not just with him, but appreciating my own capabilities, strength, resilience, and capacity for kindness and love.
Yesterday I officially accepted a job offer that will let me move to his city, and will be moving when my lease is up in a couple months. Not only is it a job I’m really excited about, but it’s a city where I’ve grown to feel at home over the last year, can fix up a cute old house, build a secret sex hideaway with him, be in one place long enough to cultivate fulfilling hobbies, have a yard and a dog, and actually see Orion in the night sky.
I know he feels a little guilty that I’m shifting my life around and he was the impetus for it, and wants to make sure I don’t make any decisions I’d regret if we stopped dating, which I appreciate. But aside from the fact that I’m very excited for the life I see building for myself there over the next decade or so, and being rid of the logistics of a long distance relationship, I’d regret not going after something that fills me with so much peace and joy.

I wrote this and realized nowhere in it do I say I love him. I guess that just seemed like an unnecessary word given everything else I had to say.
I can’t remember off the top of my head the last time I told him I do, even though I first wanted to say it 11 months ago, and first did say it 10 months ago. The last couple of years have really changed my perspective on that word.
Everything else I’ve said here means more than that, and every action I’ve shown him and he’s shown me, as a consistent “body of work” over the last year, means infinitely more. It’s also just different than love, or at least different than any other time I thought I felt it. I think the other times were, in various ways, based in fear. With him, I just want him to be happy, in the most selfless and pure way. Maybe it’s the fact that I actually trust, respect, and admire him in addition to it. But very simply, more than I love him, I’m his.
He’s always been the one telling me he can’t really articulate how he feels about me, but I can’t really articulate it either. It took a long time to write this, because even that one word doesn’t say all that’s necessary, and all these words still say far too little.

so ive posted here a few times about the troubles ive been having with hormones in the recent years in the wake of having some pretty poor care when switching to injections. i was hoping it was going to get fixed when i got an actual endocrinologist but the issue is still ongoing and i have no idea what to do anymore. just asking for any insight or experience that some of you might have with this. ill try to post the numbers as i know them but some i just dont remember or dont have access to.
so around 7 years ago i started hormones, i just started by taking 4 mg of estradiol orally. before too long the doctor said my E was around normal female ranges and my T went down a bit but was still pretty active, but i felt good and i was just trying to dip my toes in slowly so i was happy with that, i saw minor feminization and was having a great time.
then around 2 and a half years later (5 years ago) i moved up to taking sprio at 50 mg, and again it was pretty great, it came with the side effects and the transition on to it was a little rough (lots of fatigue and such) but after that things were great. more feminization, thicker hair, my body felt good. though i never really saw the kinds of results that many many others see. even after years passing was just kind of a pipe dream. also through the years i learned that many people are not huge fans of spiro so i did eventually want to get off it
then about 2 and a half years ago i moved to a big city and had much greater access to transgender care and wanted to try injections so i could get off spiro and do mono therapy. so thats what i did, and this is where things get all jacked up. i started on subcutaneous injections which for the first bit went well enough until I started getting extremely itchy bumps where I would inject that would take weeks to heal. So I moved to intramuscular after a couple months or so. now each time I would go in for blood work my E lvls would be HUGE like 1600-1800 pg/ml huge and my T was in the single digits. I would get blood work around every 3 months and the first two times we assumed it was because I had blood drawn close to the injection day but after the third time 9 months we realized that they were just like that. Now around the first time I got my blood tested I started to realize that I was losing hair, like a lot of hair, wads of it. which I could only assume was related to the recent hormonal change and the insane levels I was getting. after that third blood test we lowered my dose and it went to around 600-800 and I was still losing hair but it was reduced significantly, I also noticed my finger tips peeling and wrinkling but idk what that means. Oh also my provider tested my DHT but said he didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
after another several months I finally bullied my provider into sending me to a proper endo to try and fix whatever is going on. I went off hormones for like a month or so then went to patches which were very inconsistent and itchy and I hated them so I switched back to oral just to get something consistent. I went back to 4 mg oral just like originally but also went on finnasteride this time along with it. at this point the hair loss stopped, but my E levels didn’t budge from baseline, to this my endo was just like, "Idk why that is sorry."
because I had nothing else to really go on I assumed it was some wack conversion to an androgen like you read about here pretty frequently on Reddit. so I decided to try bicalutamide in the hopes that it would save me like it has others. I stopped the finna and went on bica where my E went to about 90pg/ml and my free estrogen was around 197. at this point I wasn’t feeling great I was tired and just felt kind of bleh, which we assumed was because my levels were low so we bumped the dose up to 6mg and after a few weeks my hair promptly started falling out again as well as my skin dried way the fuck out, my fingers were even peeling and wrinkling again. So I obviously panicked and called my endo and we went back down to 4mg but so far im still losing hair with dry peeling skin and I’m fucking exhausted all the time. There is a solid chance I’m conflating some things but I can’t tell heads from tails anymore and it’s been over two years of this struggle and I’m just demoralized. Ive Lost so much hair and progress. Not to mention the stress and heartache. I simply don't know what to do now.

So I recently got asked to help mod on another nsfw subreddit. Most of the subs I mod either have very strict automoderator settings or aren't set to nsfw due to a lack of nudity, so I was not really aware of just how bad the bot spam could be in some places.
Turns out it's way worse than I expected.
One of the most obnoxious and persistent bot networks is this one that just keeps coming back no matter what I do.

They'll steal links and titles from other users posts and repost them for themselves. All of these accounts have lots of karma, which makes it hard to filter them out, and they are recognizable by the auto generated names which they all use. To my surprise, these bots have managed to completely fly under the radar of several big subs. Just go to the frontpage of /twerking or /twerkqueens and see how many of these spam accounts you can find, it's truly ridiculous. I've actually pointed this out to the mods via mod mail but they just ignored me 🤷🏽♂️
I'm kind of tired of banning these spammers every day, so I'd appreciate any advice on dealing with them more efficiently. This one twerking sub is literally more effort to mod than all my other subs combined 😂

I don’t want to make a big deal about this but I’m sorta left feeling a little self conscious since last night. I really need to ask men about this situation since I feel like my husband (29 M) isn’t being truthful. I also don’t know if this is more common but my husband last night initiated intimacy. While we were in foreplay my husband could not get erect. I tried everything I could and within 10 min I knew something was wrong cause he normally doesn’t take a while to “wake up”. When I asked him, he said he was tired and then he had a lot on his mind. It didn’t make much sense to me because he initiated. I get people change their minds but now I’m wondering if I did something wrong that turned him off. I tried asking him but he tries to lovingly assure me he still attractive to me. He also went off about how worried he was about some situation at work that is completely not his fault and makes absolutely zero sense why he is so worried. I feel like he is bullshitting me. He also said that these sort of things just happen.

To be honest, I don't know if I should keep posting here or start asking on LGTB+ sub reddits -although I'd get really triggered- cause this is a mess...
Basically I haven't been thinking too much about being trans or not. There've been some thoughts that I tried to let go and I did. Well... more or less because I feel they're always in the back of my mind. But there've been situations for which I can't help but assume there's some truth behind those thoughts...
For example, two weeks ago I was doing kinda well, I ruminated but it was more about other themes rather than trans one. However, I was taking a stroll with my dog and I started wondering about non-binary people, then thought that maybe I was one. It actually felt genuine, I didn't have any anxiety and even felt kinda excited... I sometimes think I'm actually curious about being a man and that I could be genderfluid. I have to say though that when imagining myself as a boy, I don't actually see my current self most of time, but sort of celebrity-like. Also, I feel I wouldn't mind being enby as long as it didn't imply a big physical change; however, when I think about the chance of being a boy sometimes, I just panic and want to deny it.
Still, it even got to the point that I was about telling my father that I wanted to try using they/them pronouns. I was like really, REALLY close to asking him. It was just because I got scared that would confirm I'm non-binary that I didn't say it. But then I felt a sort of guilt, or even sadness idk and I was wondering if that headache I was having was due to not saying it or just because I was tired...
A few things to mention: Idk if it's due to TOCD or what, but right now I don't have too much of a sense of gender. Like, I tend to think I'm just "me" and I don't care that much about labels (although I do care when the idea of being a boy shows up). Also, it's true that trying other pronouns doesn't mean I'm enby. There're many cis people who currently use they/them. Not only that, but in my language (Spanish), the difference between pronouns is literally one letter. If I were to use "they" instead of "she" sometimes, it would be "elle" instead of "ella". And for some reason I find elle "elegant" lol, like maybe it's not that much about being uncomfortable with my assigned gender (female), but that I like how it sounds and I even find it "femenine" somehow.
Sooo yeah, it's been hard these days due to that event. That and the fact that when I think of accepting myself as a lesbian, I have the immediate thought of "ok, now you gotta admit you're a boy"... Well, let's say I'm not in my best state of mind...
Have you experienced something like this, or am I the only one that sometimes feels that their gender doubts are pretty genuine? Also sorry if I triggered anyone. Any point of view or advice is welcomed (as long as it's respectful :) ). Hope you have a nice day <3

Technology is the future. The future is technology. I was born, raised with this vision, this mantra. It has been a fact for most of our lives, regardless of generation. Not anymore. After despondently flicking through articles, ads, conference and seminars themes, the brave new tech world we are heading for seems empty. The Next Big Things are just tired news within 48 hours.
Horror vacui. Aka chatGPT today. The only thing we could drum up seems to be a new chatbot. Of course, not any old chatbot, the best ever. A fantastic one, even. Agreed.
Until the next one that is. This one can write, can blog, can pass exams. Even this text. Basically, *shudder*, it can replace you, me, journalists, lawyers, doctors, … it is SkyNet, it is the Singularity. Excitement reborn. Just like the last couple of times.
It could be cultural fatigue. Or hype fatigue. Or existential boredom, creeping age,… yes, all very possible. But also totally irrelevant. Techs seem to slowly spiral down into blandness. Fate, strategy or tactical choice? Hype has always been part and parcel of the game, but it replaces now entirely roadmaps and vision. If we cant expect anymore leaps and bounds, then we should at least feel momentum. Instead, performance jus about incrementally improves, while the technology experience does not. Improvements are so unnoticeable that the only evidence seems the blurb on the packaging.
We just have a series of novelty items. Hypes just follow one another, flashes in the pan. Or desperate drip-fed incremental improvements.
Tik Tok Techs.
Message and material reality go their own disjointed way. Hype cycles just suck the energy right out of strategic vision, making them at best declamatory wishlists. Techs got to the pinnacle of financial and economical pre-eminence because of their sustained momentum. They can recapture it.
That means bold roadmaps, not incremental improvements and caretaker visions. Solutions should be taken out of drawers. Solutions to actual priorities, relevant issues. Some will prove illusionary, some wrong. Some will fail. But some will succeed.
