I wish that I was an only child. And I know it's like, "don't say that! She's your sister! You'll grow up and get along). But things have gotten so bad that I can't handle her.
My younger sister has always had bad anger issues. A horrible temper. She used to beat me up, tease me, and just plain ol' make fun of me growing up. Which hey, she's my sibling that should be kinda normal. But she would get so angry over nothing. She would punch walls, throw things at me, slam doors, scream and call me horrible thing. All over something as trivial as letting her use a clothing piece of mine (just an example). She always made everything about her. She constantly threw these tantrums and disrespected my parents. If I had a day that was supposed to be mine, say it was my birthday or I won an award. She would throw a tantrum and all the attention would end up going to her. She was a competitive athlete and insanely good at what she did. So most of our year was spent traveling, waiting, watching. All surrounding her.
She's graduating this year. And for the past couple years or so our lives have been a living hell. It's not just tantrums anymore. She treats me and everyone else in my family like dogshit. Last year around this time she was out late getting drunk and wasn't back till the early morning hours, she didn't call or text my parents. So naturally she was grounded. Well, my sister and my parents got in a huge fight where it ended with my sister screaming how much she fucking hates my parents and leaving to live with her boyfriend. She came back for some reason or another and I was sent out to see what she wanted. She proceeded to get mad at me for not checking on her or asking about her. And I was pointing out how she's in the wrong. Why would I bother to check on her when she treated my entire family like shit and left. Basically dropped a nuclear bomb on our family and left. She then lunged at me and attempted to beat me up in the driveway but I escaped.
It's gotten worse. A year later and it's like she's gone crazy. It's no longer an every now and then tantrum. It's now every day. Treating me and my family like shit. Screaming. She's gotten rid of and treated all of her friends horribly. I think she's bipolar. My parents speculated maybe harder drugs (than her usual weed and alcohol). But the reason I think that is because she goes through these periods of just fucking pure mania. The way she acts, you'd think she's tweaking. She'll get mad over someone saying literally nothing. Say a person asked her how her day was over text. She'd start RANTING and raving, incredibly fast you can barely understand what she's saying. She'll make horrible horrible decisions that make little to no sense. Her reasoning for anything she does is genuinely just nonsense. She'll get incredibly angry over NOTHING. You say one word wrong in a sentence and she'll flip out. I'm no doctor so I can't really say anything but she also has pretty bad doubts of depression.
She pulled a knife on me the other day. I stream on Twitch and it was my first stream in a very long time. I was so excited, I had prepared for a whole week. But as I was streaming, I began to hear screaming. Not screaming, SCREECHING. It sounded like a wild animal. There was throwing and banging and slamming. Like big heavy furniture was being thrown. I paused my live stream cause I'm sure you could probably hear it and went to go see what was going on. I asked her what the fuck is going on. She stopped. I went back to livestreaming but those who livestream know, once something kinda upsets you or messes you up, it feels impossible to get that energy back. To get that streamer persona back. So I ended it early. I came back out and she was asleep on the couch. My dog was at the door needing to go outside. I let her out and go outside with her. Next thing you know, I hear the screaming again. I go back inside and start recording. She proceeds to start screaming at me and goes into the kitchen and grabs a knife, slamming open and closing random cabinets. She then goes into her room and slams the door still screaming. I ended up leaving for the day.
For the past few days, I've been terrified. Genuinely scared. I don't leave my room half the time. I lock my door 24/7. I lock my door at night. Even my dad said I should just in case. We threw her a graduation party despite everything. Guests were already here and she was getting ready. My grandma was super excited and waiting to see her. She came out and I was with my grandma so I said "Hey! Come say hi to grandma!" She looked at me and started going "Don't fucking talk to me. Don't fucking talk to me." In front of everybody. Then proceeded to switch back to her cheery "Oh hi!!!! It's so nice to see you". I went to my room and just started sobbing. I hadn't cried this whole time, and for some reason I just completely broke at that one little thing. I couldn't stop crying for around half an hour.
I can't deal with her anymore. I just can't. I know it sounds dramatic to say "I'm never speaking to her again" But I'm never speaking to her again. I hate her. I hate my sister so much. I hate how she treats me like shit. I hate how she treats everyone surface level to her so nice then her own family who does everything for her. It's not like we're abusive. My parents give me and my sister everything. A house, all the food we could ever want, unwavering love. If we ask for something, they get it for us. I'm not the perfect sister, but when she would threaten to run away as a kid, I would sleep on the tile outside her room. When she got bullied by some kids at school last year, I stood up to them for her. I defended her to my parents over some other personal things that ended up hurting my relationship with my own mother for awhile. But it'll never be enough for her. Nothing is ever enough for her.

I don't know how to really say this other than how what it is. My 23 yo nephew is staying with us for a few weeks while my in-laws (his grandparents who usually take care of him) take a much deserved long traveling vacation.
He's not someone that has to be cared for 24 hours a day, he's able bodied and capable enough, but he's legally disabled and thus has to be cared for to make sure he takes his meds and such.
I'd like to see if there are any kinds of opportunities that there might be to have him to something outside of the house.
When he was younger, he could do day camp type activities, but it's a little different with a grown 23 year old with the maturity of a 12-13 yo.
Anyway, I'm just tossing a line out there to see if anyone knows of something that might fit the bill. He's not full on mentally retarded (I cringe at saying that, I don't know the PC way of saying it these days), but he's challenged enough that just sending him to any ole volunteer organization probably wouldn't be fair to him or the volunteer group.

Hello. I am a treasurer for a school PTO. I believe that we are an unincorporated non-profit in KY. We have a federal EIN and a state sales tax-exempt number. Records have not been kept well in the past prior to two years ago. Even our EIN was just written on a piece of paper. I called the IRS to verify it belonged to our group. The agent confirmed it was and also said that we haven't filed taxes since applying for the EIN. In speaking to the prior treasurer, she said they've always been told they didn't need to file taxes, I am unsure by whom. I'm concerned about the accuracy of that. I am also trying to get some written processes in place while I am Treasurer to help in the future. This position turns over every couple of years or so. Additionally, our PTO has grown significantly since it was established and I wonder if what was true when we were small is now not so true that we are bringing in 50k (last year) and 75k (this year).
Here are my specific questions but I am open to any and all advice. I am sure that there is something that I am not considering.

- Are we set up properly for a school support non-profit group in KY? If so, the rest is irrelevant probably.
- Should we incorporate and apply for a 501c3 and if so, should we obtain a new EIN or continue using the one we've had for a decade?
- If we need professional advice, who do we contact? I've called a CPA and they say we need a lawyer. I've called a lawyer and they say to not pay someone for help and to ask around in our community for parents in the profession. I've had many others either not respond or say they can't help with a non-profit.
- Once we're a 501c3, I know how to file taxes (previous experience in another state), but do we file taxes this year or wait until we're set up as a 501c3?

2006-07: Michael Carrick is a great defensive midfielder but Manchester United want his services. Here, take him. Edgar Davids is also much too old to be playing Premier League football. Our loss is also our gain with 15 million quid in the books. Let's invest that into a brand-new world class striker in Dimitar Berbatov. And Carrick's replacement in Didier Zokora certainly helps us...but we finish 5th again. No tropies either...at least European football?
2007-08: Jermaine Dafoe and Mido are gone. We need to replace them. Darren Bent seems like a good idea. But who the hell is this young left-back named Gareth Bale? Why is he worth 14 million pounds? 2010-2011: Champions League football requires Champions League talent. Quickly, let's eye up cheap deals for Rafael van der Vaardt, Sandro, and William Gallas. The attacking front of Crouch, Bale, Defoe, van der Vaardt, and Roman Pavlyuchenko powered us to 5th. It’s been a tough test balancing these nights. But did you see our massive victories against both Milan teams? I think we'll be back here in no time. Is it really a bad season without winning any trophies?
2011-12: A critical season. Harry Redknapp's contract is set to expire and Daniel Levy hasn't really been known to give coaches pay raises unless they merit it. Unfortunately, Peter Crouch is too old to keep around. Off to Stoke City with you, lad, thanks for that night at the San Siro. Bringing Emmanuel Adebayor from the exile of Manchester City should be a like-for-like swap. It all powers us to finish 4th again! HUZZAH! Another season of Champions League revenues! But still no Cups to take home.
2012 CL Final: Unfortunately, Chelsea did something incredible and won the Champions League in the most chaotic final in recent memory. Thus, for finishing 4th, you get Europa League football...god I hate Chelsea.
2012-13: Gareth Bale is becoming an elite winger without elite help. We've also decided to do something ridiculously unpopular and sell Luka Modric to Real Madrid for huge money. van der Vaardt is also out the door to Hamburg. The revenue brings in Hugo Lloris, Mousa Dembele, Clint Dempsey, and Jan Vertonghen. Under the plucky Andre Villas-Boas we finish 5th and go back to Europa. But our Cup showing was even more abysmal this season. Gareth Bale potted 21 goals...oh god he's next to go isn't he?
2013-14: The worst day has come. Gareth Bale has been sold to Real Madrid. He's joining up with Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo. The money reinvested brings in Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, and the meme known as Roberto Saldado. Andre Villas-Boas' tenure was short-lived. Tim Sherwood is a former Spurs lad, surely he can lead us to greatness. If you call 6th place and no trophies greatness.
CL Final 2014: Luka Modric and Gareth Bale become key contributors to Real Madrid's Decima in the Champions League. Bale also scores one of the best goals of the campaign in the Copa Del Rey against Barcelona. The fans are pissed at Daniel Levy and ENIC.
2014-15: We've been knocking on the door of the elite English teams for a few seasons now. Time to put up or shut up. Tim Sherwood, you are not that guy pal. Mauricio Pochettino, welcome to Spurs. Here's the plucky academy kid in Harry Kane. Please get him firing, our striker woes are well-known. You want to sell Gylfi Sigurdsson and Sandro for this League One prospect in Dele Alli? Ok if you say so. Who the hell is Eric Dier and why do you want him? Culminating in a fifth place finish and League Cup final. Harry Kane scored 21 goals though...whoa.
2015-16: Defense needs an upgrade. Let's buy this experienced Belgian in Toby Alderwaiald. Him and Vertonghen played together before, surely it will work. We also need a left winger. How about Hueng-Min Son? He's been torching defenses for Leverkusen, he can surely do it here. The top teams are having a down season, now is the time to strike. We can smell the Premier League title in our grasp.
Final Matchday 2016: They finished third in a two-horse race after Leicester decided to have the greatest sports story ever play out in real life. It seems like a missed opportunity, but there is plenty to build on. Poch's team is coming together. Kyle Walker and Danny Rose are molding into elite fullbacks. The Belgians and Lloris are brick walls. Harry Kane is becoming a world-class striker. He even won the Golden Boot! They just need a little bit more to get over the trophy drought.
2016-17: Ok this is the year. We made it back to the Champions League, but this will be the last year at White Hart Lane. It's much too old for this modernizing football club. April 2023: It’s been a terrible season. From having our best start to a season since 1967 to bottling game after game after game. Tepid football, lack of inspiration. Gil was never favored by Nuno or Conte, with the Italian basically exiling him from the team unless he had no other choice but to play him. Gil would be loaned back to Sevilla where he assisted Erik Lamela's game-winning goal in stoppage time to book Sevilla a place in the Europa League final. I want to drink bleach...
Twenty-three years of failures and memes, Tottenham look like a lost club. All the shiny toys, but nothing to show for it. Champagne expectations with a beer budget. Final Matchday 2022: HUZZAH! After a turbulent season, losing to wifi-password named clubs in the Conference League then getting kicked out of it for COVID reasons, Conte calling us out in the media multiple times, we galvanized ourselves to a 4th place finish. We're back, and it's thanks to the Juve rejects in Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, and Rodrigo Bentancur. Son won the Golden Boot, a true testament to his development at Spurs. Back on track. But still...no trophies. Another finish above Arsenal...they should just make a team award for that at this point.
2022-23: A full season of a happier Conte should lead us to silverware. Let’s not dawddle, start making signings. Richarlison always victimized us at Everton, let’s bring him to back up Kane. Yves Bissouma did the same at Brighton and we do need a batter box to box midfielder. Him too. Ivan Perisic on a free for Conte’s wingback. Surely our defense is fine in the hands of Romero, Dier, Clement Lenglet, and Ben Davies. And Djed Spence because reasons.
April 2023: It’s been a terrible season. From having our best start to a season since 1967 to bottling game after game after game. Tepid football, lack of inspiration. Despite small triumphs like winning the Champions League group stage and mugging Manchester City of points again, they have failed miserably again. Son’s form is gone. Richarlison doesn’t know how to score. The defense is wide open. It implodes after giving up 3 goals to a bottom table Southampton after being up 3-0. Conte is furious, criticizes ownership again, and is canned back to Italy. Fabio Paratici was also banned by FIFA for cooking Juve’s books. To make it worse, Arsenal was leading the top of the table and almost won the title. Thank the football gods for Man City and their oil money franchise. That means nothing as the season prolapses, we fall out of European contention, and finish 8th. No manager, no director football, toxic fanbase crying out for changes. I have now developed heavy drinking. "ZE DON'T WANT TO PLAY FOR SOMETHING IMPORTANT! 20 YEARS THERE IS THE OWNER AND NEVER WON SOMETHING!"
UEL Semi-Final 2023: Did I mention this gets worse because it does. A couple seasons back, Spurs swapped Erik Lamela and 25 million for promising Spanish youngster Bryan Gil from Sevilla. Gil was never favored by Nuno or Conte, with the Italian basically exiling him from the team unless he had no other choice but to play him. Gil would be loaned back to Sevilla where he assisted Erik Lamela's game-winning goal in stoppage time to book Sevilla a place in the Europa League final. I want to drink bleach...
Twenty-three years of failures and memes, Tottenham look like a lost club. All the shiny toys, but nothing to show for it. Champagne expectations with a beer budget. Does the ownership really value profit that much? Daniel Levy always insists his goal every season is to win a trophy. But how do you do that without attracting top talent? They squandered a window in 2019 and can’t remake the glory. They've made signing after signing that are inconsistent or not at the level to win trophies. It feels like they value cheap deals rather than actual talent. It's killing the club. Kane has been a legend at the club but he’s ready to move on. I don’t blame him, his career is incomplete with some hardware. But the future looks bleak. What will Spurs do next? Will they do a full rebuild and risk the possibility of no European football? Or will they try to win at least one trophy before Kane's contract is up?

I'm not entirely sure this is even a scientific question. Does the discovery of one design feature in the conlang that very likely did, perhaps unwittingly, take influence from a natural human language, disqualify it from being an a priori conlang? If not, where's the line between a priori and a posteriori conlangs? Could arranging the necessary experiments to test this question with live human subjects possibly be done ethically? If tested with computer simulations, how would anyone know that the coders were building into the simulation enough important factors for the results to have any generalizability to the real world of live language speakers over generations?
But just as a thought experiment, suppose all three of these barriers could be overcome. Suppose a clear-cut working definition of a priori conlang could be used, resting somehow on the premise of similarity to natural human language being the lowest priority in its design. I need to preface this by mentioning that I have Asperger’s syndrome, this is important. So my gf invited me over to family dinner at her house. Everything is going perfectly fine, nothing wrong, a little later after we’re all done eating, we’re still sitting at the table talking, mostly about stuff that I really have no input on so I wasn’t talking much, but her little siblings started yelling a lot in the background, that coupled with the ongoing conversations at the table, my Asperger’s started giving me a sensory overload and I started feeling anxious and felt a headache coming up, so I quietly got up out of my chair and walked upstairs where it was quieter and tried to pray the rosary (I’m catholic and it’s a form of meditation that helps calm me down) but her little brother followed me upstairs and kept trying to play with me, I told him to give me some alone time but he kept refusing (he’s really young and also really likes me) and kept trying to play with me, this just made my little sensory overload a lot worse and I could definitely feel the headache now. I managed to stay polite though, I never got an attitude or was snappy, but I was getting more reclusive obviously with me going upstairs away from everyone. Sometime later my gf comes upstairs and sees me sitting down and asks “Did he (her little brother) drag you up her?” I said “Nah”. She asks “What’s wrong, why’d you come up here?” I told her I was feeling overwhelmed and she asks “From what?” I told her “All the noise.” She goes back downstairs to get ready for work cuz she had to work later that night and comes back up and sits next to me and tries to cheer me up showing me some memes. Now she’s acting down and depressed. Later when she had to take me home she was a lot more quiet and when she did talk she sounded really down and depressed, I tried asking her if she’s okay but she kept saying she’s fine. Later that night she texts me asking why I started acting differently, I told her that I have Asperger’s (I’ve only mentioned this to her once before so she may have forgotten) and that when there’s a lot going I can get overwhelmed and get a headache, I told her that I am not mad at her or her family or anything, I really enjoyed my time there, it was just a headache and nothing more. Later she asks if I’m being 100% honest with her, cuz if I have a problem with her or her family she needs to know, I told her yes, it was just a headache, nothing more, but now she isn’t responding, I ask her if she’s off work and she doesn’t respond, I waited till about 10 PM which is after the time she was supposed to get off and then I called her, she immediately declined. I go to sleep worrying wondering if she’s mad at me or not. In the morning I text her good morning and she just replies with gm which she has never done before. I feel like she’s mad at me but I don’t know how to approach this, I’ve told her the truth, I’m not mad at her, what do I do?

My side had stopped bleeding and now a coagulated mass of dark, cracked blood had dried on my skin, crinkling with every step I took. I didn’t think the injury was too serious. My left arm had also bled somewhat from the bite marks of John’s skull. He had exploded, and his skinless skull had struck me with its mouth agape. It seemed like he had bitten me. You could say he bit me, only unintentionally and after death. Is it okay to talk about the actions of the bodies of dead people as if the original inhabiting soul had made the decision to act in some specific way?
The suns were high in the sky. In the distance, plumes of hot air contorted and contracted reality behind it. Through the warped visions of the endless desert before me, I caught a glimpse of a shining object. I walked towards it. There was no telling how far away it was, or how near, through the lens of heat. I took a step and then another, and so it was that my brain instructed my legs to flee. My throat was dry, my feet tired, and my arm pulsed with pain from John’s old bite. John’s unintentional bite. The bite I received from John as his head flew through the air at me. The tooth marks on my arm that came from John’s old head. They came from his old head. He was no longer in it, but it had been his not long before. The marks on my arm from the teeth on the head that had previously belonged to John made my arm pulse. Yes. I think that’s it. That may be the way to say. John was no longer there, but the teeth that previously belonged to him struck me, and bit me, and his old head splattered me with blood and paste from his old brain as well. John’s old brain. The one he had had before exploding, and which he had used to make decisions and talk. The very same brain that had previously been John’s, and who had been mostly John, and which had warned me to get down. I got down, but John’s brain, and John himself, mostly, did not. So the tooth marks on my arm remain, but the brain paste and the blood I have washed off. My own brain, the one who remained and was mostly me, instructed my feet, still, to walk. Another step and then another, through the warped curtains of heat from the midday suns.
In the sky, the twin stars shone upon me and the land, and sweat dripped down my face and arms and back, stinging the hundred or so tiny wounds. It stung the most on my side, where the blood was coagulated and dry and crinkled as I stepped on the barren dirt. I missed home, but it was far out of reach. I missed home. The shining object in the distance seemed farther away than before. Squinting my eyes helped only in alleviating a drowsiness that had been growing in me, so I squinted my eyes, pretending I was doing it to judge the distance to the shiny thing. I judged. It’s still quite a way, I thought. It still seems like it’s going to be quite a long walk. But the drowsiness, though alleviated, began to take me. Is it near now? I asked. Is it almost here, by my feet, shining its shine between my toes? Is it there? I asked, but I was no longer looking. My eyes were closed, and my feet were stepping up and down on the same spot, and before I could discern whether or not my brain was deceiving me, the owner of it, I dropped to the ground, and like a man who’s never killed another living thing, a man whose friends’ teeth have never exploded, I slept, peacefully.
I woke up later, during the dark hours of midnight, when both suns hid beyond the horizon. The sky was dense with clouds, and behind me, the muffled sounds of death continued. With the heat gone, the shiny object I had seen and which seemed so far away became clear. There, in the middle of the nothingness through which I had been walking, a house stood. My side pulsed now, and the tooth marks itched. I stood up, and in the veil of darkness and the cold, I walked the rest of the way. A man saw me as I approached and waved.
“Are you okay?”
“No.”
The man walked into the house, leaving me outside in the cold. I didn’t know the culture. Perhaps it was customary to run away after such short conversations, and perhaps I ought to have done the same, but in truth, I felt abandoned. Was he not also human? Was there on that rock no sense of brotherhood or humanity? But before I gathered the energy to curse at the winds of my predicament, the man reappeared, this time with two women and a boy.
“Sorry.” I said, though I had not yet cursed at anything or anyone. Still, the guilt of my thoughts and ignorance swelled inside me and brought about the word. The guilt of John’s death, too. I was sorry. I was.
The man spoke in a language I could not understand, but human communication never was wholly spoken. Through the intonations and the actions of the people of that shiny house, I understood they were to help me, and I let myself be helped. I had wanted help for two or three days by then, and so, when they dragged me into the house and cut up my clothes and useless armor, I let them. I let myself. A suspicion arose within me, for a moment, that they would steal from me what I was wearing to sell it in some black market and leave me naked to fry in the light and the heat of the twin suns. I found it, only moments later, to be both ridiculous and acceptable. I had fled the battlefield and terrible death. If I were to die below the suns, then it would be okay, for I would not have died on the battlefield where indeed my nightmares from years past had come to be realized.
The night was long. I dreamed of many things. Most of all, I dreamed of John. His eyes bulging out of his skull, and his bloody skull biting me as it talked. “John”, the skull said, as if talking to itself, “come back.”

so i’m a renter but my landlord is the most laid back landlord ever. she knows i’m big on bio diversity and love plants so she has given me free reign.
my neighbors….. ugh. my neighbors.
on one side is an abandoned house that is currently mid restoration - love them. on the other side is house on a tiny lot. i should have known they were going to be problematic for me when they took out the ONLY garden bed to fill the entire “yard” with gravel. one of their tenants loves to garden but they restrict him to a potted garden only - no beds. the tenant used to mow my lawn for pretty cheap and i didn’t mind because i wasn’t able to work from home yet and didn’t have the capacity to start looking at what native gardening would entail. the tenant who kept the yard trimmed was always trimming the grass to less than .5” which is far too short when you have dogs and 90*+ days. so it always looked burnt and dead (because i refuse to pay for the amount of water that would be needed to keep it green when it’s that short)
whatever.
fast forward. the owner of the neighboring property decided he and his gf needed an RV to travel and that my landlord needed to trim the trees so he could park the RV between our houses. TURNS OUT HE DEMANDED MY LANDLORD COMPLETELY REMOVE THE TREES. so now my house gets NO SHADE and is soooo hot. (we don’t have AC in this part of the state) then the RV he bought doesn’t even fit there because it’s too long for his property and he doesn’t even travel with it……. 🙃

This is my first time doing brickwork. I’m building cabinets for my outdoor kitchen using brick intended to match the house siding. I’m building at ~7 bricks per hour (!). Is this normal for someone inexperienced? Any tips for building unreferenced faces square and plumb more quickly? Which surfaces / dimensions matter the least where I could start being less precise?
