2023.05.30 19:09 DeeLit3 Beginner Storyteller starts making targeted homebrews over a player getting lucky

Names have been changed to maintain anonymity. Also, my bad if the formatting is off, I don't really post on Reddit all that much, but I really needed to get this particular story off my chest.

So over a year ago, I met some people in a VTM 20th Anniversary game, which eventually fizzled out due to some stuff that's not super relevant right now. But long story short, a group they had been longtime players in had recently hit the reset button on their game and a campaign that had been going on for about three years, mostly due to losing one of their two Storytellers.
I was invited to join in this new game, as one of the previous players had stepped up to be one of the Co-STs for the game, their names were Mark and John, with John being ten years older than I am and having a huge amount of RPG experience under his belt. Mark eventually started flying solo in the ST seat due to some Storyteller burnout with John eventually hopping into a player's seat. Mark was a first-timer when it came to Storytelling, and to this day you can very much see it, but we've all been there to help him along the way, since most of the players have done more than a few rounds in the ST seat.
When I joined, there were a few things they did differently to other games I have previously been a part of, mostly these were limited to a few homebrews as well as stuff to make use of the flexibility of two STs. A hallmark of their previous game was sending in emailed 'Downtime Actions' which continued in this game, but if not used, would often mean consequences. Such as being down seven blood points (RAW you need to spend one to rise every evening) if an action wasn't used to feed. Another hallmark was the Storytellers handling stuff like side scenes in different voice channels during game time. One ST could go off with a small group in-session to have a private convo and another would keep the main scene going with usually zero issue. At first, it was jarring to me because firstly I'm used to not having to write so much on the weekly with the Downtime Actions stuff, and secondly, I didn't enjoy the abnormal amount of secrecy at the table. Both of which I kinda grew to not mind, because the side scenes wouldn't really disrupt the momentum of the game, but I still do find it a tiny bit odd, cause it felt like we weren't trusted to not metagame.
However, when John stepped down, these hallmarks didn't really go away. Mark still tried to maintain the workload of two people with Downtimes between five players as well as balancing side scenes, despite us as a group wanting to move away from all the secrecy. But these would often leave the game dead in the water mid-session and disrupt the momentum of a Court assembling or a social event happening in-game since 90% of this game was very politically focussed. And Mark was still trying to juggle two scenes at once. Since it would be him chatting with one or two players and the rest of us just sitting in silence for upwards of five minutes at a time. At first, it didn't really matter too much to us as players, since we were sorta just vibing with it, and we were under the impression John would come back to the ST seat eventually.
For a while, we were very much fine with it. But often the conversations with the ST or an NPC would drag on, or he'd spend ages trying to type out what was basically an essay in DMs at the start of a session. It kinda wore on my patience quite a bit, because, for one, it felt a little distrustful of us as players and our ability to adhere to general table etiquette, such as not metagaming. I understand wanting to be secretive in VTM, because the system encourages backstabbing and whatnot. And two, it started to get very tiresome after a while because, due to timezones, I would often have to wake up at like 3am to make it on time to games, since I'm over in Australia and the group is mostly over in Europe. So I'd wake up, and sit in a session where I would basically be doing nothing but fighting off drowsiness whenever the ST left with another player. Especially when the side scenes began to grow more and more frequent and tended to grow longer. At one point, an entire action sequence played out off screen for most of us players, so we had no damn clue out of game what was happening
Along with the side scene shenanigans as well as the Downtime Action emails, we have another homebrew that makes 10s count as two successes and skill specialties grant an extra die. Eventually, stuff came to a head with this particular rule which ended up being the nail in the coffin for my run in Mark's game. Mark started growing more and more frustrated as the game went on due to us getting lucky on dice rolls, and us having pretty sizeable dice pools because we'd earned a pretty huge amount of exp over the course of the game. Most notably, his aggression went towards a player named Nikola, who was essentially dubbed a 'problem player' and was called out for being a min-maxer by Mark. His character at the time was a Nagaraja necromancer, pretending to be a Malkavian.
There were multiple DMs that were exchanged via Discord to Nikola by Mark about his character being overpowered because he'd gotten a lucky shot on a boss fight that had been set up, or Mark hadn't accounted for a power like Telepathy being used in a murder investigation. Snide comments were made out of game about Nikola using a ritual to solve every problem, which really drove me up the wall as a player. For the most part, it just didn't sit right with me hearing Nikola just get absolutely dragged behind his back by Mark. But Nikola had barely done anything to optimize dice pools, for one, he'd dumped most of his experience points into necromancy.
Mind you, most Necromancy in VTM is not only horrendously costly but nine times out of ten it had a very specific niche regarding dead stuff and ghosts, this specific instance being limited to wraiths which were incredibly hard to encounter in the wild. Nikola's character took a bunch of levels in the Vitreous Path, having a total of one ability that directly did damage to anything. A lot of the rituals he had were incredibly situational, with him even having to work with Mark to homebrew in rituals from other editions, as well as copying some things from Thaumaturgy just to make it the slightest bit viable. All of this was stuff Mark okayed and said yes to. At any point, he could've pulled the plug.
There were often times were Nikola would wake up to rants from Mark, which would either be walls of text in DM's or a mashup of voice messages and texts, and Nikola would also have to sit through the shade that was thrown in-game at the playecharacter. This was after he would stonewall Nikola in furthering a plotline, by either forcing him to roll dice for a menial task like jumping out a window, or by even introducing Mages and Fey and trying to screw his character with death magic. Nikola isn't a very confrontational person, and let a lot of this slide since this was basically Mark's second proper game of VTM.
This entire ordeal sent Mark down a path of trying to reinvent how we rolled dice, as well as nerf/alter several discipline powers despite them being costly as hell to use in the right circumstances or incredibly niche. All because one player had been getting lucky and Mark hadn't accounted for powers such as Auspex being good for investigating crime scenes and its particular power of telepathy being quite strong at getting info from mortals. One of the main homebrews I was vehemently against was solely because Mark's reasoning behind it was "you all roll too well" or something along the lines of us not botching for a good amount of sessions. In spite of the fact that several players had been on a very unlucky streak for the past few sessions. The rules we used up to that point are just the RAW ones from the corebook, with 1's cancelling out successes, and if you roll more 1's than what's considered a success, it's just a failure. A botch only occurs when you have no successes and any amount of 1's were rolled. This with our other homebrews apparently made us roll too well, with us at the time having 10's always count as two successes and specialties adding a bonus die to our roll.
Mark's homebrew was to change the RAW stuff to try and nerf the double tens homebrew rather than simply going back to RAW. His changes were as follows: If we go below zero successes with 1's it's a botch, even if successes were rolled. The severity of a botch would change depending on how many 1's were rolled. A lot of powers and dice rolls in this game have a lot of bad consequences if we botch already, with some aura reading/emotion focussed powers straight up knocking out a character for an entire scene on a botch. Which could be anywhere up to an hour of in-game time, or quite literally the next 'scene'. I honestly just didn't see the point of increasing the chances of stuff like that happening, especially when it has the potential to just flat-out stop a player from doing anything whatsoever
Many of us suggested going back to the RAW rules for specialties, as 10's only counted as two successes when a specialty was present, but this was ignored, and he started shoehorning in extra maths for other suggestions that confused the hell out of our less numbers focussed players. His other homebrews were very much specifically targeted, as he had tried to nerf Telepathy limiting it only to surface thoughts, no matter how many successes were rolled on the dice as well as changing how the entire Celerity discipline worked. Trying to add a huge amount of limitations to what could and could not be done using a celerity action. The only player that had used the Telepathy power even somewhat often was Nikola, as 90% of the players either didn't bother having Auspex or weren't high enough level to use Telepathy.
This all sort of came to a head during a sit down to discuss the homebrews, where practically nobody could agree on a suitable dice rolling mechanic, with Mark once again, barely even acknowledging my suggestion of just ditching the double 10's homebrew altogether. The energy in the voice channel was tense as hell, with Mark backpedalling on his reasoning for the botch changes. It went from him feeling like we roll too well, to him not feeling enough interesting storytelling was occurring with the current dice-rolling system. John ended up poking his head in and very specifically asked Mark why he felt the need to increase the chance of botches and ended the comment with something along the lines of "Isn't it your job to make failures interesting as an ST?". John also bringing up the fact that we all usually tend to roll for things our characters are good at. Everyone has a niche and to an extent, our characters are built to fill that niche.
Most of that discussion went in one ear and out the other because it was a lot of arguing and going in circles, and in the end, we stuck a pin in the dice rolling system because no one agreed. And i was too exhausted to pay attention because I'd only gotten back home from work an hour or so before the discussion started. This took about three hours to resolve, by which time it was 5am for me and I was incredibly mentally exhausted listening to grown adults being unable to settle on rules for a plethora of their own reasons.
A few days after, I left the game, sending a message to the ST that getting up early/staying up late after work was way too exhausting to do every week when we basically do nothing in game, and I didn't like that a lot of the homebrews felt targeted and very adversarial towards us as players. I reminded Mark that it wasn't anything personal. But his response was mostly sweet, but he tried to shift the blame onto Nikola who allegedly expressed a need for these changes and didn't even bother to acknowledge the fact that I mentioned how I was feeling about the game itself. Mark essentially tried to make an adjustment and re-invent how VTM dice rolling works, which honestly wasn't really called for by anyone but him, and then tried to pawn it off and make it another player's fault.
I'm kinda sad this ended like it did, mostly because I did enjoy vibing with the players, and I really loved my character. I consider many of the people at the table pretty close friends, and I feel like my thoughts and feelings may have burned some bridges. But the game was essentially taking a nose dive, and I didn't want to waste my early mornings/late nights feeling like we were basically doing nothing when I could be getting some much needed sleep.

2023.05.30 19:09 deadstarsunburn Could use advice for young girls with ADHD

Hoping someone has had better luck than me. I'm 31, have learned how my ADHD needs handled but I'm having the hardest time helping my stepdaughter. She is almost 11. She forgets often and loses things constantly. It bothers her. I've taught her the things that help me. I've done them with her. We've done check lists. Fun rainbow/colorful lists/pictures. Put the important things on top/next to the stuff you know you'll remember, grab the important thing as soon as you think of it. Simplified where I can to take some off her shoulders. I obviously can't manage what happens at the other home but I'm doing my best to help her have tools. To make it harder, her mom refuses to work with us on any of it, is exceptionally petty and very vocal and proud of that fact. She hates the things my stepdaughter does for stimulation (demands she stop), she shames her when she messes up, like many of us she doesn't fall asleep easily. After years of giving her melatonin they've cut it off suddenly and told her unless she's asleep by 9pm she will be in trouble.
I'm hoping you guys have tips that worked for you as a kid or even now that are different from what helps my ADHD so I can help my stepdaughter thrive.

2023.05.30 19:08 MetroGrunge Why is it so cringy to self-advocate?

Talking to another female in corporate America. And I’m curious: does anyone else ROCKKKK at their job. I mean, own it so hard that you’re up for promotion early, but you know it’s a “hush” promotion (give her something to appease when they got wind I was inquiring about pay scale and that I was “open to work” on LinkedIn) when you know you’ve been doing the work worth 3 times what you make, and they obviously see it too.
BUT, when it comes to actually presenting your case and asking for a full revamp of the position to actuality, and compensate accordingly, you freeze?
Why is it so hard to self advocate?? Why does Imposter Syndrome/fear of rejection set in NOW? Insurmountable writer’s block.
Does anyone else experience this? How did you overcome it? I have to finish this proposal, like, yesterday. They know it’s coming. They’ve said we’d meet in early June and put all cards on the table (basically), so I want to play my hand right. AND NOTHING IS COMING OUT.

2023.05.30 19:08 restlesslegsyndrm My boyfriend has been uninstalling and reinstalling Tinder for months.

We have been together for five years with 10 months of last year being a breakup for us. He ended things because he felt like he needed space and wanted to see what else was out there. Three months after the breakup, he asked for my permission to slowly start dating again (which I told him he didn't need but he said he did out of respect). We stayed friends during our breakup as we dated other people. After several months he said he can't feel a connection with anyone else because he keeps thinking of me and what we had. We got back together. About a month after getting back together, he opened his phone and tinder was his recently opened app. I was hurt he still had it and left politely without mentioning it. He figured it out as it was pretty obvious. He came over the next day to apologize and started he deleted his tinder.
Earlier this year he asked me to move in with him. I was so happy as he's generally scared of commitment. This was a big step for both of us since we've never lived with an SO before. He got hurt and had to have surgery the week before we moved in so he was in the hospital until 2 weeks after I moved in.
Things are going great. We communicate about issues that are bothering us(except this which I just discovered and haven't brought up yet), share responsibilities, take care of each other when we're sick, etc. But yesterday I had to work from home and his computer wasn't logged in. He custom built two gaming computers which I'm almost never on. I asked him on the phone to login so I could work and he said he's going to come home and make a guest account for me. I thought this was bizarre since he was far away. He said he just wanted some privacy, but it was so secretive and unlike him that it raised a concern in my head. Last night, I couldn't sleep so I did a quick search. Apparently he has been uninstalling and reinstalling Tinder until the day after he came home from the hospital (two weeks after I had already moved in). His subscription is cancelled. He also has a second Instagram and a second Snapchat (which I didn't see, just saw there was separate login info for it, so it could very well be old/not actively using it anymore). I lay in bed processing this for hours. After sleeping on it, I can understand a second IG and Snapchat perhaps.. if he was talking to girls when we weren't together, he might not want to have shared his personal social media that's linked to his grandparents, friends, etc. But the Tinder thing makes me sad. I don't know if I can trust him.. maybe he didn't think it was bad because we weren't ""officially"" living together until he came home from the hospital. Maybe he was curious to just see what pictures /profiles were on tinder.. idk, but he was receiving DMs and matching until the end of March. But I don't know if I should just let this go since he hasn't been on Tinder since April 1st and has cancelled his membership. I don't see my therapist until Friday which I'm okay with waiting, but it feels deceptive to hold onto this without discussing it as I feel that's how resentment builds. I'm so lost. How should I proceed? I need advice.
TL;DR my boyfriend was acting sketch then I found out he has two IGs and SCs. He also used tinder for months after he told me he deleted it, but hasn't touched it since April 1st.

2023.05.30 19:08 LanaDelMantaRay I think I've decided on Minnesota, but I need help looking for the right place: new grad RN looking to relocate.

I posted previously about where I'd want to relocate in the summer of 2024; I am currently a student nurse looking to finish next March, and hoping to pass the NCLEX within the following month, so any nurses in Minnesota, any advice here would be appreciated!
The cities I am looking at are the Twin Cities and Duluth. From what I've read, Minnesota has a bunch of what I want: four seasons, colder than average winters and mild summers, bordering a body of water, blue in terms of politics, and most importantly, decent hospital systems. If there are any other cities in Minnesota that are similar, or you think I might like instead, please list them down below!!
The following are the remaining criteria I am looking to cover, but are NOT in order of importance:
I am not sure if St. Paul or Minneapolis would be the right city for me, depending on the majority of the criteria above. If I pick either, I would like to be able to walk or bike to work and to grocery stores near me if possible.
Similarly, I like the idea of moving to Duluth, because it is much smaller, right by Lake Superior, and it has nice bike trails by the lake. It also has St. Luke's hospital, which is the only hospital I know there. But I don't know how meeting people in Duluth is, or whether it's a good place for a 25-year-old individual. I wouldn't mind having to drive a little bit, but heavy traffic would be a turn-off for me.

2023.05.30 19:07 albumandat-shirt ALL TALK DRAG RUSH S2 E10 PART 4: FINAL CRITIQUES

Very well said, ladies! Your speeches serve as reminders to all of us that you 3 have put in the time and effort needed to make it this far. From laughter to fighting, you’ve entertained the judges and given us some great things to read along the way. Now, for the first time on Reddit, we’re going to return the favor and write all of you critiques for the world to see. The world being our 7 readers. Let’s actually give these ones in reverse-alphabetical order to shake things up, starting with Willow Pill!
Elecktra (Host): “Your speech was the strongest case for me, which I didn’t see coming as you had just made an also strong case against yourself last week. Your runway was a good choice, I get why you chose it; but I don’t think it entirely screamed the category. Either way, your trajectory this season can be reflected by your finale performance, in that you exceeded expectations and let your personality shine through.”
Elektra (Co-Host): “I actually had very high expectations for your finale and let me just say they were absolutely met! Bitch, you can make an argument and it shows. It was compelling, clean, and charming. Great job tonight!”
Ra’Jah (Judge): “I’m so happy to see you here at the end of Season 2 with such a solid and consistent track record, you never really had a bad week in this competition. Your performance this season was a strong asset for you going into the finale.”
No matter what happens tonight, know that you deserve to be here as much as anyone else! Now, somewhere in the middle, there’s always Sasha Velour!
Elektra (Co-Host): “I think I was the most excited to see what you had to offer this week. Undeniably, you were THEE girl to beat for so long, and I believe that your speech is very compelling. Don’t let anything take away from the amazing body of work you have presented this season!”
Ra’Jah (Judge): “You are an exceptional writer and you’re clearly very professional (in a good way) when it comes to this competition. I feel like you were above All Talk Season 2 in a way. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel much connection to you this season compared to the other 2 finalists, so this finale was a make or break moment for you.”
Elecktra (Host): “You started off this season with a stellar and almost unbelievable track record; but as I’ve told you before, it was even wilder how earned it was by each of your submissions. Much like Elektra with her unusual foot size, you had big shoes to fill this week. Your runway was certainly the best for me; but your performances could’ve been better by comparison.”
No matter what happens tonight, you were the one to look out for all season long! This brings us back to the abusive chanteuse, RuPaul!
Ra’Jah (Judge): “In the nicest way possible, I did not see you in this finale! You are truly the wildcard of Season 2 and your presence was much-appreciated. There were multiple times this season where I saw you tapping out or underperforming; but you persevere and now you are here with a real shot at the crown!”
Elecktra (Host): “So… fan favorite to challenge winner to villain to BTM1 to challenge winner again to fan favorite again to reunion winner to finalist? You’ve had a very full life here at All Talk in the short time of this season. It’s been pretty entertaining to see you through the epic highs and lows of a Discord drag rush”
Elektra (Co-Host): “I think that you have the most interesting trajectory of the season and have definitely been a character the entire season, and your speech was a super strong last piece to reflect and represent your run.”
No matter what happens tonight, know that you were essentially the class clown of Season 2 and were sort of iconic for that! We can’t thank all 3 of you enough for how fantastic and fun of a ride you’ve made this for us, and can only hope the feeling is mutual in turn. With critiques out of the way, it’s now time to finally give the last placements of the season.
Keep up with what happens next on u/albumanda-shirt or DragRush!

2023.05.30 19:07 Dragonborne2020 I passed AZ -900!!!

Thank you for this Reddit channel!!
I passed today with an 835. Not great but still a pass, right? Ok, so what did I use? I'm older and haven't tested in years. I was really stressing out. So I like the training videos and reading. During the exam, I had a couple around azure arc. most of the 36 questions were yes / no. I had questions around subscriptions, can you merge them? can you have more than one? can resources be shared across subscriptions, I stumbled a bit on premium storage account questions... What did I use to train?
  1. Microsoft Learn.
  2. John Savills Training, he explains what they do and how they work. helps with the understanding what each item is.
  3. created a free portal.azure.com account and just messed around in there. make sure you know how to open the Azure CLI prompt window. It is a question. Make sure you know what can run on Mac, Windows and Linux... it is a question.
  4. The Tech Blackboard (Youtube) is awesome. They review and discuss actual questions. very cool and very accurate. Some of the same questions actually showed up on the test. I don't know if I would have passed so easy without it. I found this the afternoon before the exam and watched this morning before going in. I recommend 3 days of it before taking the test. You will probably do way better than me. This show actual test format and wording of the questions. This really helped me to look at what the question was really asking for and how.
  5. Make sure you understand the process of elimination, for example: Azure Advisor... what does it do? if you know what it does, then you know what it wont do... when you look at the answers to the question it will jump out at you.
I am already signed up for the AI-900 later in June. Go Team, you got this!!!!! Old man out.

2023.05.30 19:07 kingpingmaster_ What about data privacy?

So, I have being researching for quite few days about ours Personal Data & Information that big tech giant promises to keep it safe and "not to share with anyone" well is that true?. If you listen to C.E.Os speech, in that speech they will say that "the data of the user belongs to them and we will not share... Bla bla....." No!! Absolutely not they just make by selling our (user) Data, that's there business model if they don't collect or sell it they won't be able to make money, and to counter this there are quite few companies which are only "Privacy Focused" for example Duckduck Go it's a wonderful company DuckDuckGo is a safe and privacy-friendly search engine. It does not collect user data and allows you to browse the web anonymously. So it's a 1 week... I guess... I have being using Duckduck Go as my default browser and search engine and yeah not using Google. And my experiences was pretty much good 👍 yeah Duckduck go sometimes doesn't show relevant seach result like Google did, but come guys... It's doesn't collect your data as well as doesn't track you.
So if you wanted to switch from Google to something else then you should consider using duckduck Go

2023.05.30 19:07 Human-Ad-4310 Not sure how to get my clothes smelling fresh help

So, I am new to doing laundry, not new per say I always did laundry for my grandmother, but she would sort the clothes and I would just start the load. I know how to separate the clothes, but I have no idea what to use!! Currently I use Tide detergent and Downy Fabric softener. I have heard that fabric softener does not help at all and can make the problem worse. The problem I am having is a residue on my armpit region in my shirts as well as the clothes not really smelling fresh. Some people say use vinegar while others say it destroys the machine-like fabric softener. Some people say essential oils in dryer balls but that is a fire hazard. I just want good fresh smelling clothes any advice is appreciated!! My washer and dryer are both pretty old as well, me and my partner are freshly moved out of our parents houses and have hand-me-downs, so I don't want to damage them anymore than they already are.

2023.05.30 19:07 Stoneandwood20 How can I bring all the aspects on my life together to path out an exciting new journey?

I’ll keep this brief:
An initial thought was to go to Peru and use Workaway, taking photos for businesses, but I fear I’ll spend that £6k in a heartbeat. Then I have absolutely nothing.
I’m too shy to ask people for money for photography. That’s a big downfall. But when it comes to payment, I always crack under the pressure of believing my work isn’t good enough. I’m sure I could make some extra £s this way but Brighton, where I live, is flooded with talented young photographers who are better at more in demand photography/videography work (food, concert and video work.)
If anyone can suggest a magical place that I could move to while I have an opening in my life, or just any advice on what to do with this money/lack of responsibility, I would greatly appreciate it.
I understand - you can’t tell me how to live my life. But maybe you know a cool, Spanish speaking, aesthetically pleasing place to try and escape the rat race.
Any suggestions??

From what it looks like to me UA plugins are "system" based. Each system being the computer you connect the rack to. The issue is being a rental house, we don't always send the same computer out with the same rack. We also sometimes send 1, other times 2 out with a single computer.
Trying to make sure that all our plugins work no matter what system we send out.
I registered all the Racks to one Mac Mini, I then moved to a different Mac Mini and it looks like all the plugins are working on it, but if I go to the UA website with that Mac it shows a second system with no devices registered to it.
Have to go on site tomorrow to do some trouble shooting for a client and want to make sure I fully understand how their convoluted systems work and see if I need to bring this Mac with me as well.

2023.05.30 19:07 Nixon710 Therapy consultation today, help me understand what I'm feeling and need help with?

My SO(28F) and I(29m) got together when we were 15. She was very straitforward when first started talking, one of the first real conversations we had before we started to date was that she felt that she was missing someone thing and the thought of giving herself to other people was something she felt like she needed to do. Me being a naive 15 year old, I thought I'd be able to 'save' her or fix her when in reality I just didn't realize what she was saying to me. I basically folded that information up and put it in a pocket and forgot about it. I didn't take her seriously from the start. And the worst part is I told her that I heard her, I saw what she wanted and I understood when in reality I was lying to myself and didn't know the pain she was in. Fast forward to our relationship after 6 years or so and she sits me down and tells me that she's struggling and spiraling fast and that she needs that structure in her life that a dom would give her either from me or she wanted to find someone. At this point in our relationship I hadn't really done anything overly domming. We've had rough sex but that was about it. I panicked, I didn't rationalize. I put in very little effort, didn't make any posts ot read much at all. I even asked her at one point 'where she would like to be spanked?' I didn't realize that that was one of the things that was fundamental to what she wanted. She want to give the keys to me and I take charge. And I was sitting there asking her simple things about the kink, showing that I put in now effort. We ended up finding someone off Craigslist and she met up with him, we did everything wrong, it was an unsafe situation that ended with her getting her boundaries pushed and me being hurt because her phone broke on the way to his house so I had absolutely no communications with her for about 7 hours when I was supposed to be getting pictures and videos back. When she got home I was mean and distant and treated her like absolute shit. It's one of the biggest regrets I have in life because I pushed her so hard to do it. After that she had really really bad endometriosis. She had weeks where we wouldn't even think about sex because she was in so much pain. It took years for us to her a hysterectomy. Fastforward to about 9 months ago, she's healed up mostly from her surgery and has her sex drive back and let's me know she wants to find someone else. I'm still down with the idea and tell her to do what she wants, find who ever she wants, free reign. I shouldn't have done that. I didn't think before I spoke. Remeber how I said I folded up her needs and put them in a pocket to forget about? Well turns out needs dont go away if you ignore them. She found a few people to start talking to online but they lives close enough to be potential partners. I didn't realize she was going to be looking for more extreme cnc scenes and that this was going to be how she wanted it forever. I always thought I'd be able to give her everything she wanted and knowing that this part of her is a door that I can't shut or a void I can't fill is really really hard. I've been okay with the thought of seeing her with other people but the dynamic of this changes how I feel for some reason. I'm trying to figure out what I need to talk about/ work on to better understand how I'm feeling and to navigate this.
We are both in an understanding phase right now where we know that this is noncompromisable for her and we may not work if I can't be okay with her being with other people. I have a phone consultation with a kink therapist and any help navigating this would be amazing.

2023.05.30 19:06 frooboy Making mortgage payments during retirement

Hi all -- I am trying to figure out a way to plan in a quantitative way around possibly having a mortgage payment for at least the first part of our retirement. We are in a situation where we live in a HCOL area and have a mortgage that is not insubstantial (~$440K) but we are also fortunate enough to have a very low fixed interest rate (2.827%) and a relatively manageable monthly payment ($1,920 principal + interest). Thanks to neighborhood prices going up, we also have quite a bit of home equity. We might sell and move to a LCOL area when we retire but we might not and I am trying to figure out the numbers for either scenario. We're about 10-12 years from retirement and on the current schedule would be making mortgage payments for another 12 years or so after that.
Basically, what I'm trying to figure out is how to account for that initial period of making mortgage payments in estimating how much I need to have saved for retirement. The rule of thumb about being able to take 4% of your savings out annually is based on the idea that you'll be doing that indefinitely; is there a similar formula you can use to say, "This is how much I should have in my savings over and above that if I'm going to be making $X in loan payments for Y years?" Knowing this could really help us assess how realistic it would be to stay in our current city, and also whether it would ever make sense to pay off our mortgage early (the interest rate is so low that I assume not but maybe?). Thanks in advance.

2023.05.30 19:06 bex1917 Advice about pursuing clinical training in Germany

Hello everyone! So, as a bit of a backstory, I got my bachelor of science in cognitive neuroscience in the States and then moved to Germany to pursue a master of science in "Mind and Brain" (essentially cognitive neuroscience again). At the time I was really unsure of what I wanted to do in life, so I thought getting a master's in the field I loved couldn't hurt, but I came to the conclusion that I did not want to go the research route and pursue a PhD, so for the past few months I've been on the job hunt. I never fully considered becoming a therapist after starting my master's because I assumed it would require a lot more time and money, since my program technically was not in clinical psy. Now I'm wondering if any of you could give me advice on what to do next, since I'm thinking more and more about becoming a child therapist. I did my master's in Berlin but moved away a few months ago to live with my partner in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg. I'm worried this might make it even harder to find a clinical psy master's program nearby, especially since I'd much prefer it to be taught in English. So I don't really know what to do. Is it also possible to go into this field without having to complete a second master's program? Could I somehow go straight into completing a traineeship? Honestly, I don't know how any of this works, so I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

2023.05.30 19:06 Detective-Signal Can't Gain Weight

The title seems like a strange thing to complain about, but I am kind of worried. For the past several months, I have fallen back into old patterns and have been overeating and eating horribly. I've been scared to step on the scale due to the possibility of weight gain, but yesterday morning I finally weighed myself and I've lost five pounds. I don't understand how this is possible. I've lost 100lbs since March of last year and the fact that I didn't gain weight makes me think something may be wrong health-wise? WLS isn't a magic fix; you can still gain weight if you eat poorly, especially when you're a year out from surgery, so is this normal? Should I be worried?
I am at my goal weight of 170lbs so I shouldn't be losing more weight when eating poorly, I think.

2023.05.30 19:06 VulpesSophos On Themes and Journaling

Myke said in the most recent episode that it was 'absolutely essential' to him to journal about his theme every day, that the active daily focus and reflection was a huge part of what made the theme work. This is my first year where I'm truly doing a theme start-to-finish and sticking to it, but I've always pictured it much softer than that, kind of how Grey describes in his video: an idea to help guide decisions when you're at a crossroads, a principle for steering and decision-making. Obviously self-reflection is important and writing thigs down is 'annoyingly effective' (I think that's a Grey term) but I've always been very resistant to the idea of journaling. I just want to hear some other thoughts - who uses a journal actively for their theme, who doesn't, what do you like about it?

2023.05.30 19:06 CautiousCrazy3620 Why wild rift players are so bad (mentally)

Ok you might think I am going to talk about how people dont know wave management , jungle pathing , kiting but no most people dont even know these things are terms
I am talking about the toxicity and the trolls after something happened (minor or not), and they just run it down being toxic , trying to say that they deserve Masters and GM although they are boosted ,because the system rewards you for spamming games for some reason
BUT the worst is yet to come , RIOT does NOT ban these people even for a day or two and you can actively see that they just run it down at least in LOL pc ( you call it lol pc I think), they ban the outright people who run it down for 2 WEEKS and at least you can deal with toxic people , with the MUTE option
And because I am worked up if you ever think that you need to get better look at what you are bad on and please learn wave manipulation ( IF you want to climb) trade paterns , if you play adc you have to learn kitting , spacing , CD of important abilities basically , lots of things also mind manipulation of your team ,not on the literal sense, by spam pinging for objectiives and stuff and these things you HAVE to learn with every class and champion
( Also I play LOL pc and wild rift and wild rift is 100X easier)
Last thing ,no champion is hard in wild rift dont think "OMG this champion is so hard" ,NO that doesnt exist its just different playstyle you have to learn and its easy. Jayce is an early game stomper he has more abilities than most champion and you can use his combos to outplay and get kills (combos of any champion are easy to learn and master and others more complex yasuo keyblade air balde and stuff like that which become easier the more you play and it becomes easier quickly) only in LOL pc there is the hard champion stuff ( because there is mouse clicks for movement and attacking and lots more stuff)
(I dont do this to make you feel bad or something , I want to help this community get better I might not be the one who makes it better but I hope I am a help to anyone )[also there are videos on wave manipulation and stuff ]

2023.05.30 19:06 Cicada444 I relapsed

F/21 I haven't cut since college in 2021. I was extremely depressed and had no sense of control over my life. I worked really hard since then to make my life better. I built this whole world for myself and since last April (2022,) when the physical abuse got really bad in my relationship, everything fell apart. I have no idea how to keep going and how the trauma is affecting me, and honestly, i dont even want to begin to unpack it. Everything in my life is out of control, i have no job, im flat broke, had to move back in with my neglectful reactive mother, i feel fucking useless. I want to have my shit together. I woke up with the urge to cut so bad today. I tried talking to a friend about it, it didnt do anything I still went ahead and cut myself 8 times on my left arm. Now i don't even want to leave the house because my friends are gonna ask about it and im so embarrassed. my friends fail to underdstand what im going through and i feel so alone in this. im tired of it, i feel like i sound like im bitching about myprivilegedd life, but why does it suck so bad. sorry this is just a throw away, i just dont have the space to talk about stuff like this.
