Extracurriculars/Activities

1. Internship at a local university in my country. I talked about what I do in the laboratory, didn't namedrop (I regret not doing so), 35 hours a week during my gap year. Nothing published yet...
2. Volunteering: created my city's first tutoring program. Administered over 100 volunteers and 20 families over a year. 14 hwk, 46 wk/yr. Grade 12.
3. Speaker at international TEDx event. Was given a scholarship to attend, the topic was neuroscience/pschology. Grade 12. I also did other TEDx events locally.
4. MUN organizer and chair. Just the school's MUN.
5. Coding team co-founder. Was named co-founder after enrolling in the Astro Pi contest. Self taught Python (with certificate from the University of Helsinki) for this project).
6. Class president and then prefect during all years of high school. It's funny because I went to 3+ different high schools, was elected class president at all of them. I mentioned my duties as class president (organizing sport comeptitions, arranging exam schedules...)
7. Eldest sister. As the first child of a monoparental family, I spent my summers and most evenings taking care of my sisters, cooking or tidying up the house. I thought it was something I should put in the commonapp because it consumed my summers and I couldn't attend many of the contests I wanted to go to.
8. Dance. Competition dancer (gymnastics and ballroom dances) until 11th grade (danced normally but without the competition hours because of my studies). I have been dancing since I'm 6 years old, won 2 silver metals in a big city in my country.
9. Film making. Ludopathy advocating through writing, directing and co-producing an award-winning short film on the topic.
10. Violin. Obligatory mention for the nerdy aesthetic: the violin. Had to stop playing in an orchestra because I moved cities in year 10. I have been playing at home ever since.

I mentioned other ECs such as aiding with the creation of a vegan and religious-respectful menus at my high school, participating in chess tournaments, working now as a tutor.
Awards/Honors

1. Full ride to the most prestigious school in my city, which allowed me to study the IB. Valued in 28k, only one recipient per year.
2. My team was Astro-Pi finalist (I love you guys), it's an international coding competition and they send robots to space for investigations planned my teenagers. You should definitely try for next year if you're a sophomore/junior reading this.
3. First place in a local's university contest for independent research.
4. Mathletics: 1st place in school, 6th place in Europe (I spent 52 hours in a single week doing this. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT)

Letters of Recommendation
Environmentals teacher: good, but I don't expect it to be great. His last referees have gotten into oxford and UCL and really good colleges, so it will definitely not hurt. We have an amazing relationship.
Physics teachetutor: He is my teacher, just not the physics one. I sneaked into his lessons anyway because he is genuinely the best teacher ever. I'm sure he wrote an amazing LOR.
English teacher: I read the letter, it's comedic, mentions me as bubbly and genuine and talks about me in a less academic light (still mentions my work ethic with examples, etc), which I guess is a good combination with a more formal letter.
Interviews
Duke interview: He was Spanish but he hated biology. It was fun and very very relatable when we talked about anything other than my major. Overall I think he thinks I'm not a fit for Duke, but I liked him and I'd love to go there.
Northwestern: the first and best interview so far. He told me I'm the type of students Northwestern wants, that he'll do anything possible for me to get in, and told me to continue with my current path in life. Very encouraging and now I'm praying to get in because I love Northwestern.
Princeton: The interviewer cancelled on me TWICE and then finally intervewed me. Very sweet man, had many things to talk about but I don't think the interview will have a negative or positive impact on my application. I think it was very neutral.
Essays
Maaaaaan I don't know. I don't like my essays but they made my abusive mom angry so HEY that's a good sign. I tried my best to show how much I love each university and how I see myself there as a student. I hope the feeling is reciprocal. I am often called a good writer but I don't think I would stand out from a really good applicant pool because of my prose.

Awaiting on other T20s. I know it looks like I applied to only reaches, but honestly, as a European student, if I'm going to University of Nowhere, I rather stay in Europe. There's nothing wrong with ambition!
Additional Information:
I am losing hope but as a test optional international seeking full aid, I shouldn't have had any hope to begin with. I am honestly looking for a miracle right now. I am blaming my results on my need for money, but maybe the fault lies somewhere else. It's not like I can do anything to change the outcome now, but if you see a mistake please point it out so other internationals seeking full aid don't make the same mistake.

Hai, I'm a senior in highschool and 1st gen so I'm hella new to all this and seeking out some advice.
I got rejected from UCD but accepted into UCSC and a bunch of CSU's. I've just gotten my financial award notifs from every school I've applied too, and I'm tied between UCSC or Chico State (since their percentage of finacial aid proposed is in the same price range.)
Pros (or Reasons) for UCSC: -love the campus and I focus better being away from the city -astronomy program that I'd like to minor in (majoring in comp. eng.) -close to silicon valley and being able to network -i just really like the vibe tbh🧍🏽‍♂️
Cons: -Housing crisis -Santa Cruz tax 😬 -going in blind, alone
Pros (or Reasons) for Chico: -affordable community -able to move into off campus easily with friends (who just want to move out, but not go to college) -respectable engineering department
Cons for Chico: -no astronomy programs -smaller campus -even FARTHER away from the bay, or anyone I know

I get the feeling that there are a lot more people whose first game was 1st or 4th gen than the others, so I want to check it out. If your first game is a remake then select the generation in which it came out, for example, if it was Fire Red, pick third generation.

It's an iPad Pro (1st gen i think, only works with the old pencil) I admit it's my fault but i wanna know if there's anyway i can fix it?? I used to leave it plugged for days or even weeks untouched..... Now that i need it, i charge it to 100% and within a minute or two of unplugging it, it dies. It's a perfectly fine ipad otherwise and i feel so ashamed of myself pls help me lol thank you

You remember Painkiller? Sometimes all I want is to jump in a game and blast metric tons of enemies for 10-15 minutes until the itch passes. I tried Borderlands and didn't quite adhere to the aesthetic, but I did like the loot collection and upgrade mechanism. I'll probably play Diablo 4, but what's a good alternative when I want this sweet 1st person adrenaline? PC games please, I haven't kept up with the console wars - my "next-gen" console is 2 gens ago.

What are some of my options for mini/kei 4x4's that are decently capable off-road ?
I currently have a 2 door, 1st gen rav4 with 70mm lift, 31" mud tires, 4x4 and front/rear LSD, I've managed to get it everywhere except for some very steep inclines.
Id like to find something even smaller then my Rav, that has low range and potential for front/rear locking differentials. I've been looking at Pajero JR / Pajero Mini's for import, but I'd like to toy up my options.
I want something I can haul a 900mm long fridge, double swag ontop and awning on the side with for camping.

I had an organ transplant due to a genetic disease. I will need access to good healthcare and immunosuppressive medications for the rest of my life because of this.
I am now fully capable to work and will be continuing the final year of my Bachelor’s in Biology within a few months. The plan from there is to attend medical school or a PhD program. (I had to leave briefly in order to receive the organ transplant.)
Even though I am fully able and willing to work and plan on becoming a physician or a PA, I know that some countries may not accept me due to my medical history.
Is there any hope for someone like me to emigrate to Europe?
Background info: I do have a great great grandmother that moved to the US from Switzerland and another that moved from England but both only accept 1st gen, rarely second gen. My ancestry is 3rd gen+.
I’m fine with leaving the US to further my education, or waiting until I’ve finished medical school entirely but the end goal remains the same; to leave the US within the next decade.

This is not a hate on T1 and their brilliant accomplishment this split, especially Keria, who became MVP again and the whole team became 1st team. It’s just that this LCK Spring Playoffs this year will be like Spring Playoffs last year where T1 went undefeated. I mean who can beat them in a best of 5: HLE, KT, LSB, GEN.G, D Plus. Just stop the playoffs and hand the trophy to T1 and book their flights to London already so we can this charade. I know sports is glorious uncertainty, so does esports, but this playoffs will be the most predictable to date.

Basically, I have been having this issue with my 1st gen speed, idle rpm sits at around 500 ish rpm, and it will stall most of the times.
Sometimes rpm will go up to around 700 rpm and drop back.

Just bought an RG35XX, and aside from the performance issues I love it.
I'm noticing it more on GB/GBC games (1st and 2nd gen). I'm running stock OS, haven't upgraded to Garlic yet. Im new to this so just looking for suggestions to improve performance.

I have a 2nd Gen 4K AppleTV box that is hooked up to a 4K LG Oled TV on wifi in my living room which I’m the last few weeks has been lagging/buffering when I try to start a video on most apps. The worst has been on HBO Max which usually takes about 5 minutes before I can start a video. Other apps like Disney+, Netflix, and Apple TV also take a few minutes to start. The picture will usually start pixelated but will correct to 4K within a few minutes. If I pause the video it will take a minute or so for the video to get started again usually with the pixelation. I assumed it was just having wifi issues and have been looking at hardwiring the AppleTV to Ethernet via MOCA. I also have a 1st gen Apple TV 4K box hooked up to 4k insignia tv which I have in a bedroom and have not used in a few months. I just turned it on clicked into HBO Max and started a movie and it started right up with no lag. I compared the video settings across both and everything seems the same. I also compared my wifi signal strength and I have 5 bars in the living room and 4 in the bedroom. I have a Google mesh network and have my living room Apple TV about 8 feet from an AP, and the bedroom Apple TV is about 15 feet from an AP. Not sure what could be causing this issue.

Running my 250 ohm DT 990s through my Scarlett Solo 1st gen. Its not the best set up by any means but the scarlett can power the headphones pretty well, i usually keep the volume knob at around 9 oclock. When i turn up my volume to, say, 10 oclock (which is a pretty big difference on this knob), the bass comes through way more, while the rest stays about the same EQ wise while just being louder. Is this just my perception or is this actually something that can happen?

Hey, all! So I have a Wii (1st gen with gamecube support) modded so that I can play a back up of Zelda Four Swords Adventures. In the game, you can play multiplayer if you connect a gba to your gamecube (wii in this case) to use. However, My wii is all the way across the room, so I wouldn't want to sit 2 feet from my wii lol. So I was wondering, is there any way to connect your GBA to your wii wirelessly? I've looked everywhere but could hardly find anything. Thanks.
