My partner (M25) and I (F26) have planned to visit Japan this April for the cherry blossoms. We planed this trip since February 2022.
Last month, my partner’s best friend threw in a trip to Greece where they will celebrate his birthday. That trip is 4 days and it happened at the same time to my trip to Japan. My partner asked me to delay my trip then he could go with his mates. His reason is that there will be many friends from university that he hasn’t seen in years coming so he wanted to catch up. At the same time, it is a big group so not easy to find a time that works for everyone. I was upset but still went with his proposal. We decided delayed our trip for 1 week so we will go in the 3rd week of April for 10 days. However, the cherry blossoms only in full bloom from end of March to middle of April. So in other words, we missed the best time for it. I also had to paid hotel cancellation and insurance fee for my visa.
After that, the length of the holiday was reduced to 7 days and because my partner didn’t want a “too-long” trip.
Thing was still fine to me until a couple of days ago when he asked me to reduce the time again to 6 days. He just changed his job so his entitled holiday this year is only 7 days, and he needs to spend 3 days for his trip to Greece. With 4 days left + a weekend, the maximum he could do is 6 days. I agree to cancelled the trip to England for this but I don’t want to cut down the time for Japan again. I suggested him to ask for unpaid leave but he didn’t want to because he want to make a good first impression at work.
I see his perspective but I am upset at the same time. In my point of view, I always come last in his priority list. It is always me who have to tolerate and compromise. I said I didn’t want to change the plan again but if thats his decision I will respect it.
Since then, I refused to speak to him because I need time to work on myself (I let him know beforehand). Yesterday when I was browsing Facebook, I saw some comments from his friend calling me selfish and mocking my attitude (not speaking to my partner). I only met my partners friends a couple of time before so I am surprised they think of me that way.
So, AITA?

Judgement day today. Before the banks’ crisis I was pretty sure this meeting would see a .5 hike. I feel they should have given us a .5 last meeting but here we are. Some are expecting even a rate cut today LOL! I would say it is split between no hike and .25. But I would say everyone, but me, expects this to be the last hike… I would say the majority are now expecting the Fed to cut rates .25 at the next meeting in 6 weeks! I have seen people expecting a .75 cut by years end. I am not in any of those camps! Due to the bank crisis, I expect 2 more .25 hikes… And possibly, possibly 1 or 2 cuts towards the 4th quarter. [After October.] There is a serious fight against inflation, but now we see first hand what rate hikes can do to our banks, causing widespread panic, and a run on the banks.
These bankers, many, did not have their position in 2008, and certainly weren’t around for 2000. We learn thru experience, so they did not hedge, did not plan for a market in which the Fed would tighten, the Fed would increase rates rapidly. They deserve what they get! When Covid hit, the Govt did something unconstitutional. They told land owners, what they can, or cant do, they made us house people for free. I understand, there was a pandemic, but no one came to my aid. If you accepted rent relief, [Which took 3-4 months to get funded, I did apply for 1 person] You could not evict that tenant for 6-12 months, and while processing you most certainly were a slave to that tenant and the Govt. If the tenant did not want to fill out their portion, you were not getting paid, if they did not know how, you were not getting paid.. So you had to beg someone, whom screwed you for 6-18 months to fill out a lot of documents, send proof and wait months later to be funded. So, I only did it for 1 single mother who owed me for about 8 months.
So no one stepped in for me. I was losing 15-20K per month on my properties, this was without my major renovations which I still did some.. I waived goodbye to between 300-400K that I will never get back in lost rent. All told, lost rent, paying for mortgages, utilities without those rents, I easily lost near 600K. I am lucky I did very well in the market in 2020/21.
So I don’t believe we will get the hikes that we should, it is crushing many companies, but the low income will suffer for these transgressions of people who have made bad decisions. That said, I believe 2 more hikes, which will put us near 5.1-5.2% with the bank lending, tightening, may put us at a 3 handle on CPI sometime by years end. If CPI drops quickly, if and then, that is when I see the Fed cutting rates, and not before. It is to early to predict the affects of these hikes on earnings and the economy, we can only say it is going to be bad! How bad? No one knows, if I don’t know for sure, I am telling you, no one does. I do see the combination of banks and 5%+ rate bringing us near the 3 handle and that is when the Fed will cut. I do not see the Fed backing off the hikes before, regardless of what banks fail, regardless of flat GDP, unless we see unemployment above 5% and at the moment it is near 3.5-3.6%.
That said, when the market realizes, if they do, that this may not be the last hike, and a pivot wont happen until the end of the year [When the Fed knows we will get a 3 handle on CPI] the market should… I say they should, but there has been a disconnect between the market, and the data.. come down. And as I said before, regardless of where the SP500 is, current fair value is 3,300-3,400 based on earnings at the moment! I say the moment because the trend is going down, not up, not even flat! The numbers are still getting worse! This time next month, we will start seeing 1st quarter earnings. [Reported 3rd Week of April] And you will see the quality of earnings, because of company color on earnings and forecasts I see the numbers going lower.
If we are lucky, and its lucky, by 2nd quarter earnings [July] the hikes will stop, and earnings will go from down trending to flat, which is at least better than where we are.

We measure sales, and earnings [bottom line] year over year. It is very good if you beat analysts consensus on top and bottom, but if you have less sales or less earnings that the previous year that is not a good sign. ZIM earnings are expected to be down near 75% in 2023 compared to 2022, so the stock price is down more than 75%. Sales are expected to be down 50% but the stock reflects that already. Also, ZIM has a PE ratio of near 2.5 and that is with the company earning 10 dollars a share. The company smashed 4th quarter earnings by well over 1 dollar, sales by 100 million, and the forecast of 1.8-2.2 billion profit far exceeds analyst estimates of the company earning near 50-60 million for the year. [Current consensus is 42 cents. 120 million shares] GME is headed the right direction, for now, at least. I am impressed that they did make 48 million as opposed to losing 50-100 million. It is definitely a huge improvement, first profitable quarter in 2 years. But if you take a look at the 10Q, they had a decline in sales 2%. I expected near flat, and they did this by a cost savings on expenses near 90 million. This is very good, but keep in mind, this is temporary. You can only make money for so long with declining sales. It gives them some breathing room. GME still lost 313 million for 2022 even with the surprise 48 million profit. I am impressed, but the quality of earnings is in question for sure. Check the video above, however it is a step in the right direction. It was also the 4th quarter, Christmas, holiday quarter. If they do this 2 quarters in a row, then I will clap.
Either way, the company is not worth anywhere near 8 billion, which is where it will be at around open. ZIM is valued under 3 billion! Plenty of companies that make profits and pay dividends are worth far less than GME. But as we know, this is an auction, supply and demand, it is a popular vote. WGO beat top and bottom line by a wide margin, the market cap is 1.8 billion and has a 2% dividend yield, just mentioning it so you can compare different companies. NKE had a huge earnings beat and sales beat. NKE is down on inventory glut, I would not long or short NKE, I really liked it in the 80s but here we are. I wouldn’t short or long GME, but maybe if 30! If 19 yesterday I would have made a small bet on puts, maybe 500 bucks, but it peaked around 18.40. You can never judge a reaction to earnings when you have so much retail.. Otherwise ZIM would be 30+. I did like WGO in 2021, but the field is out of favor for now.
I will wait for the Fed decision, I had an order to sell ACI at 19.60 and high was 19.52 yesterday. If the Fed does hike .25 and talks about it being the last hike, I may sit on the sidelines for a while. If the Fed doesn’t hike at all, same thing… if the Fed talks tough and there will be more hikes and no cuts till end of the year [As should] I may buy puts on high fliers

So last week was our anniversary and we planned to have an amazing time celebrating it on Saturday since we are moving across the country the end of the month and wouldn’t have an opportunity to go out for a while having no family support. My wife was super excited talking about it everyday and bought a very sexy dress I couldn’t wait to see her in. Unfortunately she ended up getting really sick in the beginning of the week and was very upset that our plans might not happen. I told her it’s okay that if she doesn’t feel better in time we could change it to the following Saturday before we moved.
The next day she started making plans to go out bar hopping with her friends that following Saturday even though I told her that would be our make up day for our date. She said it’s okay we can just go out Friday instead rather then her planning around our date. I didn’t really want that because I knew I’d have a long 10 hour day at work then have to pick up my son from school and drive 45 minutes one way to take him to my moms for the weekend. I’d be way to tired to enjoy what we originally had planned but whatever nothing I can do about it.
Now my wife doesn’t show any excitement about our date. Anytime I bring it up she kinda ignores me or just won’t converse about it. I brought up about us getting a room because she was very persistent on it last week but now she tells me with what money. Now I’m feeling upset because it seems all she’s interested in is going out with her friends, talking to them everyday about it, and to top that off she didn’t even bother to invite me along so I could also see them for maybe the last time for a very long time which I would of loved to have joined.
No idea what to do or even feel at this point.

Fairy Court Katarina Prestige is a Token Skin! That means you have to collect 2000 Tokens to buy the skin in the Token Shop. You don't need any mythic essence for that.
Some small tips for you guys:

• Play at least 3 - 5 Games a day! It doesnt matter which mode you pick. There is no guranteed faster way to do it. Your token gain comes from your game time and win / lose ratio. However TFT farming is heavily nerfed and I don't encourage doing so. If you do that you can gain the Border, the Chroma and the Prestige Skin for a total of 2550 Tokens! That is totally doable! You have time till 24th April 2023 to farm your tokens! Thats 1 month of playtime.
• If you are unsure, wether or not you have the time to grind for it, I recommend not buying it immediately. They changed the whole system, which means there are no exclusive pass missions. What does that mean? It means that if you buy the pass at the END of the event, you will still earn all of the tokens you would have collected with the pass. So don't panick if you can't afford the pass tomorrow or in the next 2 weeks. It's alright!

For all the free users:
The event grants you a total of 300 Free Tokens. So you can either get the Border or the Chroma but not both if you don't plan on spending any money!
There will be a Border Skin Bundle but tbh, these are overpriced because they always come with a ward skin that puts the price up by 200 - 300 RP and I personally don't care about ward skins at all.

So half out of curiosity and half because there was a rattle in the rear right of my car, I decided to try out the service chat in the App.
Left a message there at night and the next business day I got a call from a US number and they connected me to Polestar Toronto's service which is Grand Touring Auto, who also sell Bugatti, Bentley, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce.
They give me a call to talk about the issue and I let them know there was absolutely no rush for this and I'd like them to come pick it up. They said next availability was on Tuesday 10am and this was on Tuesday, so next week. Agreed and that was it.
Next Tuesday I get a call at 9:49am and he tells me he's outside. Just perfect. Has a 2023 Space Polestar2 for me and we go over the issue again and he takes the car.
4 hours later I get a call back and he says he's leaving the dealer in 10 and confirms location again. Calls again when he's outside and we go over the repair. Swap cars and off he goes.
Overall I'd give it a 9/10. Only thing missing was they didn't even wipe down the area where they were working on and it was dirty from that. I wasn't expecting a car wash but minimal clean up would've been nice.
Btw, the rattling issue was the trunk floor. It has clips it locks into where it pivots behind the rear seats. The clips were loose causing the rattle. They tightened everything and now no more rattles.

I blew the whistle on a manager at my job for sexual harassment and inadvertently got another manager fired for knowing about it and not doing anything about it.
I work fast food, a popular pizza chain. I've been with it for almost 10 years. I love my job and store so much.
I told another manager when I went to another store about the sexual harassment of the said managers, she called HR, then they reached out to me. I didn't hold back. I told them everything.
I felt that I had to. This wasn't about me being sexually harassed, but our young female employees were. He was 65. And saying and doing inappropriate things to them and they'd come and tell me about it.
I felt I did what I had to do. They didn't know what to do and neither did I. I just couldn't stand to sit back and listen to them tell me any more about how bothered they were, by him. His comments. His fussing at them. They'd tell the higher up manager about it in our store and she scolded them and treated them like sh*t. She was very much aware of his advancements but looked the other way. If the girls complained, they got bullied by her. They told me this. When it got to physical touching to one of my coworkers, I spoke up the next chance I got. It just disgusted me. I couldn't keep it to myself, I felt so bad for her and knew she wanted something done but just didn't know what. She told me what he'd done (he grinded on her with his pelvis at work) and that it really disturbed her. I told her in return that I'd like to talk to someone about it. She seemed okay with it. I didn't seek getting him fired, only complained to another manager about what she told me he did to her.. And that's what did it.
They're fired.
So now, we got a new manager to run our store. And she is a mean, hard ass bi-otch. She hates my guts and yelled at me within the first 5 minutes of us meeting for the first time. I don't know what the hell I did to this woman, but she acts like I killed her puppy. Honest to God. It caught me if guard. I didn't think the main manager was getting fired, but I certainly didn't think we'd be getting a new one so soon to replace her, and a complete witch b*tch at that. She just doesn't like me. And I don't know why. I haven't done anything wrong that I know of. At any point in my work. She told me upon meeting me, she's heard all about me from other people, and she's not afraid of me nor will she take any of my shit and doesn't care if I call HR on her not. "She's not scared of me." I'm like..'Wtf?' All this, and all I said was "Hello"to her. The next day, she laid it into me again. This time, I told her to please stop harassing me because that's what it feels like you're doing. You keep yelling at me for no reason and picking me out from my work to yell at me and threaten me. That's harassment. Please stop." Then she preceded to tell me I was the one yelling at her, when really she's the one whose being hostile to me. This b!tch is crazy.
She rolls her eyes at me. And scoffs. It pisses me off so much, I don't know what I am anymore when I'm crying my eyes out at home. Whether I'm sad, angry, or scared out of my mind of losing my job. I can't tell you the reasons why people could possibly want me fired, but what I can tell you is this, this is retaliation. They've made it personal. Everyone used to say I'm a good worker, now nobody talks to me. None of my coworkers talk to me. They don't socialize with me but will socialize with each other. It's a vibe I get I can't quite put my finger on. Like something going on but I can't figure it out. It hurts so much. I'm so hurt and confused.
To make a long story short, the new manager group texted us the new schedule that she's made.
She cut my hours.
I have the least of anybody, all the team members. It seems like an insult. I don't know why she did that. It's been a steady decline anyway, but her having control over the schedule, she cut me bad. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to keep us afloat.
My boyfriend has disability. He gets some benefits, but it's been a tremendous pay cut from when he was working. We moved into a new house to rent, only for him to be shot during a robbery attempt 2 months later, and now gets income and can sit at home.
I totally understand his condition and I don't mean to be an asshole. I am grateful for him being here and I love him so much. I wouldn't trade him for anything. But there are times where I'm so jealous that he doesn't have to work. Even though it wasn't something he asked for, our lives changed since this tragedy. We went from the both of us working, to the one of us working. And he used to be more active and strong, now he's weak and uninterested in most things. It's taken a toll on me mentally. I have to cook, clean, grocery shopping, take him to his doctor appointments and lawyers every week because he doesn't want to drive himself. He stays home and plays Fortnite all day and night. I have to deal with this drama with work and worry about holding it together financially, because I have to make up what his benefits don't cover. We split everything, share responsibility. He gets to stay home and play Fortnite with his online buddies and collect money. And I can't blame him I guess; he's bored literally all the time. I just wish I could trade places once in a while I guess.
I just feel like the weight of the world is falling down on me. I've cried so much these past few days. I'm scared and intimidated by that new manager. I'm worried she's trying to push me out of my job and being very mean and hateful to me in the process because she possibly knows of my involvement in the firings of 2 managers. No matter what, I just wish things were different. I know deep down I did the right thing, but I wish I wasn't going through this kind of treatment. I know it isn't right. I'm just not sure anybody's going to help me. I want to call HR again, but I'm afraid if it isn't sexual harassment, they won't care how I'm being treated otherwise. Even if you can get fired for retaliation, how could I go about proving that????? Will they believe me and fire her?? I have no idea. I don't want to transfer to another location and I don't want to find another job. I've been thinking about getting a 2nd job at least, to figure out what to do, but I really am in love with this job I have more. It's just the people that's stressing me. I just wish we didn't have these bi-polar a$$, perverted a$$, mean a$$ managers all the time. But good people instead. I just want people to say something to me. "Hello, how are you today?", would be nice. I feel so alone at my job. I feel like I've been letting my boyfriend down. I feel like a failure and I'm scared if I can't keep us afloat, then all hells' gonna break loose. I really just wish to end it. I have no desire to go on anymore and I wish I did have something to be happy from, but I just really really am tired of feeling depressed. And anxious and shocked and scared. I'm thankful for what I have, but I hate my life.
I'm sure it'll get better. I'm just so scared. I've been so scared these past few days of everything crashing down, I've been contemplating suicide. Like, getting ready for it mentally. If and when it all crumbles. But here's hoping, I can figure it all out before it gets to that point. I'm just tired of the bullsh!t.

So around a month ago, she (20F) told me (24M) that she did not want to get herself into a serious relationship. For my sake I asked her to go no contact and told her that if she needed me I'd still be there but she had to leave me alone except if she wanted a relationship (9pm).
30 mins later, insanely long text message of her basically claiming that she was my world and that she was afraid that now I'd commit suicide (never told her anything related to suicide, I did not cry and told her I was fine just wanted to be left alone). She then messaged my brother after me not answering telling him to take care of me and that she'd always be there for me etc... my brother did not answer her as we both felt like it was a bit weird (she had only seen him twice and again I was perfectly fine). Finally at 10:30pm (as soon as I got back to my apartment) she calls me shouting and telling me that I was an asshole to not answer her she thought I was dead etc... (she still had my loc on snapchat which explains the perfect timing). I told her that I was fine talking sometimes but that she really needed to leave me alone. Next day, message, then call from her, then a lot of text messages claiming that her grandma was at the hospital dying (get ready going to get crazy, you must know that my grandma died not too long ago so she knows that's something I can rely to).
So we break no contact basically for me to help her go through that phase. We get back to seeing each other a few times a week etc... then this week her "dying" grandmother suddenly get back home. I'm telling myself that this is just pure luck.
Comes my birthday Saturday evening, a lot of friends of mine and a few of hers. We were both in the kitchen, I was "playing/fighting" with a friend pushing each others and she tries to intervene, my friends pushes me she gets pushed too, and hit her head. She bleeds a bit and she claims she needs to go to the hospital. We tell her that she seems fine and she starts screaming that I hit her and I'm a violent man (thank god I got 20 witnesses). She calls a friend that picks her up and drives her to the hospital, she then makes a snap of her at a party at 1am. Next day, no news, yesterday messages asking for her stuff. Drive to her home and gives her, her stuff back. She then tells me that I'm an asshole, that she had a commotion and has now after-effects and I should have messaged her to ask for news, that I was fighting everyone at the party etc... After telling her that everyone agrees that she was the one that over reacted, that it was an accident and that I didn't really need to check on her because she went to a party till 5 am just after being checked by a doctor so I knew she was fine. She just shouted "you have no respect" and got back to her house.
I could detail a lot more things, all the money she owes me, all the lies she told, ... but believe me if everyone suddenly the next morning just after you broke up with them tells you that they have insane issues requiring you to come back, there is a high chance this is a lie and that is just them going one step further in the manipulation.

Leading up to the Federal Reserve's March 21-22 monetary policy meeting, traders had been expecting the FOMC to ratchet up its key interest rate by 50 basis points because the economy appeared to be surprisingly robust. But then three U.S. banks failed - Silvergate Capital (SI), SVB (SIVB) and Signature Bank (SBNY) - and a fourth is teetering (check out the latest headlines related to First Republic (FRC)). That may have Fed policymakers rethinking their expectation for a rate hike today and their upcoming rate path, while the whole episode came during the Fed's blackout period, creating even more uncertainty about what may lie ahead.
Backdrop: As a reminder, the Fed has increased its key rate for eight straight meetings, bringing the federal funds rate target range to 4.50%-4.75%, from 0.0%-0.25% in the past year, in its drive to push down inflation. Meanwhile, the core PCE price index, the central bank's preferred inflation gauge, showed a jump of 4.7% Y/Y in February, up from 4.6% in January, but easing from 5.2% in March 2022. Don't forget that efforts to shrink the bank's balance sheet were upended last week, as financial institutions borrowed a whopping $153B from the Fed's discount window (and $12B from the newly created Bank Term Funding Program), though assets from emergency lending tend to fall as soon as a crisis subsides, compared to holdings added under quantitative easing.
With regards to whether to hike or not, the decision won't be easy. Inflation still remains very high and a pause now could signal there are deeper problems within the banking system. On the other hand, there are fears that the Fed is moving too far, too fast with its aggressive rate increases, and some see the current banking crisis as a direct result of tighter monetary policy. Ultimately, things will boil down to whether the financial stability problem has been limited to a handful of regional banks that has been successfully contained, or if something systematic has broken - with the possibility of the crisis morphing into something larger.
By the numbers: According to the latest Wall Street Breakfast survey, around 70% of the 1,740 respondents expect the central bank to go for a smaller 25 basis point hike, though 20% believe that the Fed will pause its hiking cycle (and about 10% still see the possibility of a 50 bps increase). Any surprises will surely jolt markets, so pay attention to the Fed's dot plot - which will be published alongside its policy decision at 2 PM ET - as well as Jerome Powell's press conference a half hour later. SA contributor James Baker expects the central bank chair to "emphasize the continuing strength in the employment, the Fed's intention to make money available to any bank needing funds to meet deposit withdrawals, and the Fed's continuing commitment to bring inflation down." U.S. officials are prepared to take more actions if needed to ensure liquidity in the banking sector, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said yesterday during an American Bankers Association meeting in Washington, D.C. She defended federal regulators' actions to protect the depositors of Silicon Valley Bank (SIVB) and Signature Bank (SBNY), saying "our intervention was necessary to protect the broader U.S. banking system." While conditions have improved with aggregate outflows stabilizing, "similar actions could be warranted if smaller institutions suffer deposit runs that pose the risk of contagion." Yellen also cited a need to re-examine current regulatory and supervisory regimes, and expressed worries over a last-minute deal to resolve the debt ceiling. (3 comments)
Meet Bard
Google (GOOG, GOOGL) has released its artificial intelligence chatbot for public use as it responds to the growing threat from rival projects at Microsoft (MSFT) and OpenAI. The Bard chatbot will be available to a limited number of users on a waitlist picked from those in the U.S. and the U.K., before Google offers it in more countries. The company is also learning from missteps of OpenAI's ChatGPT and its own demonstration of Bard, by limiting the amount of interaction that can occur between Bard and users. Calling the situation a "code red" in February, Google AI chief Jeff Dean said the tech giant was moving "more conservatively than a small startup" since it has much more "reputational risk" in providing erroneous information. Earnings swoosh
Shares of Nike (NKE) jumped 4% in after-hours trading on Tuesday after topping earnings expectations and touting inventory management actions. However, the gains didn't hold, and the stock even ended the session down 2%. Backstory: My (17F) mom (45F) cheated on my dad (46M) 7 years ago with my step-dad, Alan (50M). I was 10 at that time. I knew that my mom had another boyfriend that made them to get a divorce. My dad was devastated to say the least. My dad fought hard to get custody from my mom because he did not want to lose me at all. He did end up getting 50/50. Ever since my parent's divorce, I hated my mom. I hated that she hurt my dad. I remember my dad drinking himself to sleep after the divorce, I was 11 and had to push him out of the couch and cleaned his vomit. I saw what my mom did to my dad and my step-dad was also to blame for it. My dad did clean up and started to make changes in his life and became a good father figure for me. But he still suffered from the aftermath of my mom's infidelity. He was finally in a better place now. He has worked enough to build a relationship with me too. Suffice to say the relationship I had with my mom never recovered. I hated going to her place and watch her play family with some random guy. She never made an effort to keep our family together yet she happily became the loving wife to him? I hated him too. My mom tried really hard to make me forgive her. She said sorry and apologised. I never missed a chance to remind her that she was the one who broke my family.
It will make her cry that her own daughter wants nothing to do with her but I didn't care. I would lock myself in my room the entire time and not come out. I was always loud and clear that I don't like my step-dad even though he also tried to make it up to me. Any gift he would give me I would just give it away. Last year my mom, Alan and I had a huge fight. I called my mom a cheating whore who destroyed my family. I also called Alan a homewrecker and said "I hope your own son gets cheated on so that you know what the pain is like". Alan screamed at me that he is tired of my shit. I left their house and went to stay with dad. I thought it was so unfair that my mom lives happily ever after and my dad was left behind to pick the pieces of our broken home. That's when my dad sat me down and told me that I should have never talked to my mom like that. Sure, she made bad choice but she is still my mother. And then he told me he forgave her and it is for the best that I forgive her because it will make me free.
My dad went on to explain that in his therapy he realized his marriage had problems. He thought that just because everything was going on a routine and there was silence, he took it a sign that everything was fine. However he learned a lot about relationship and himself over the last 7 years and has tried to become someone I could look up to. He tells me he is dating someone else and he is happy with the life he has now though there are some triggers. I was happy to hear that my dad was doing ok. And it made me realize I was being irrational. I am still mad at mom but I decided to give her a chance. I said sorry to both my mom and step-dad. I also said sorry to my step-brother and my half-brother. Things have been calm and cool for a while. I met my dad's girlfriend. She seems awesome. She has two kids who are under 10. Though she is much younger than my dad but I didn't care. As long as dad is happy I am happy for him. So, few days ago, I was chatting with my mom. I brought up the fact that I met my dad's girlfriend this week and she seems nice. My mom's expression changes. She went from having a smile to frown. She says, "i didn't know your dad was dating." I said I didn't either but my dad is taking things slow. I told her she is really nice and cool. My mom then lashed out and called me a hypocrite.
She said that for years her step-dad and her have been trying hard to make me forgive them. They went out of their ways to make it right. And I still didn't accept them. But I accepted my dad's girlfriend in a heartbeat and suddenly she is this cool step-parent. I was angry too so I blurted out "At least she didn't cheat on my dad like you". I also said that I would never accept my step-dad as a good human because he is the reason why I grew up in a broken family. That I do not owe them anything after how they treated my dad. I respect my dad's gf more than I respect them because at least she didn't cheat on him and left him to pick up the broken pieces of our family. In fact she is the reason why dad is happy now and she will always be above my step-dad. I stormed out and stayed with a friends. I know I shouldn't have said that. I mean firstly, my dad and his gf has only been dating for 6 months. My mom and dad were married for 13 years. But I feel like an AH for how I worded it.

I had horrific staph folliculitis all over the back of my scalp, beard and groin for over a year. I completely cleared all of it by taking cephalexin antibiotics for 1 week, using 4% chlorhexidine wash in the morning and night on all of the affected areas and using benzoyl peroxide wash and topical gel AM/PM. I also changed my pillow case every night and washed my bed sheets every week. You might need a longer duration of antibiotics or a second round after a few weeks, the first time I tried antibiotics without chlorhexidine, all of my spots came back a few days after finishing up treatment. The second round of antibiotics combined with the chlorhexdiine wash, they never came back. That was 3 months ago, I still use chlorhexidine and BP on the problem areas daily just incase (it's not harmful) and have not had one new or reoccurring boil. You have to be extremely conscious of what the problem areas come in contact with and you absolutely must not pick at or even touch the areas of concern outside of washing in the shower. If the staph acne is near the eyes, povidone-iodine wash is safe to use on the face and is efficacious against staph. (\*disclaimer for new people* DO NOT use chlorhexidine around the eyes or in a ruptured ear, if it gets into either it could cause blindness/deafness. I personally made sure to clamp my eyes shut the entire time it was on me and stuffed tissue in my ears just incase, you could use goggles and earplugs if you're worried.) Sharing in hope that it might help somebody else.

So half out of curiosity and half because there was a rattle in the rear right of my car, I decided to try out the service chat in the App.
Left a message there at night and the next business day I got a call from a US number and they connected me to Polestar Toronto's service which is Grand Touring Auto, who also sell Bugatti, Bentley, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce.
They give me a call to talk about the issue and I let them know there was absolutely no rush for this and I'd like them to come pick it up. They said next availability was on Tuesday 10am and this was on Tuesday, so next week. Agreed and that was it.
Next Tuesday I get a call at 9:49am and he tells me he's outside. Just perfect. Has a 2023 Space Polestar2 for me and we go over the issue again and he takes the car.
4 hours later I get a call back and he says he's leaving the dealer in 10 and confirms location again. Calls again when he's outside and we go over the repair. Swap cars and off he goes.
Overall I'd give it a 9/10. Only thing missing was they didn't even wipe down the area where they were working on and it was dirty from that. I wasn't expecting a car wash but minimal clean up would've been nice.
Btw, the rattling issue was the trunk floor. It has clips it locks into where it pivots behind the rear seats. They clips were loose causing the rattle. They tightened everything and now no more rattles.

I just got my fourth ever flare up of gout, but compared to the previous ones it was no where near as painful. The last attack was in July of 2022 and it seems that there is an average of 6-10 months in between attacks. Over the last year and a half or two years I lost 90lbs, I plan to lose even more, I'm 250lb now and almost 6 foot, I exercise five times a week, and I'm a vegetarian so I feel like I'm doing well with dieting, except I eat a lot of spinach which I hear mixed opinions about in the gout community of Reddit. So, is it worth starting medication, specifically allopurinol? Also worth noting is that I'm doing a diet similar to keto but that only started three months ago. I had a blood test a few months ago and my uric acid was crazy high, like 12.6 or something, but I wasn't in any kind of pain. This lady attack also happened while I had a respiratory infection or bronchitis. I hear that allopurinol can be bad for your liver too, but so is high uric acid?

I’m a first-time solo game developer and I recently announced my prehistoric 4X strategy game, Folk Emerging, where players lead nomadic families through the Stone Age.
With no marketing experience, I had no reason to expect much from the announcement. I just hoped to scrape by with the bare minimum number of wishlists to justify spending the next year or two polishing the game.
Chris Zukowski has a great blog post about what to expect from launching a Steam page. The key point is that games with the potential to perform well will usually gather >150 wishlists in the first 2 weeks. If you get less, something is likely wrong.
I had no reason to expect that I’d surpass the 150 wishlist threshold, let alone gather 700+ wishlists in the first 2 weeks! It’s no viral hit, but certainly more than I hoped for.
This post outlines how I went about it, what worked, and what didn’t.

Prepping for the Announcement

Folk Emerging started off as a procedural map generator in November 2021, running in a janky, slow Python notebook. It evolved into a game and I switched to Unity in February 2022, but it was still a hobby project and progress was slow.
I initially thought it would be good to delay talking about the game until I had a playable demo to share. However, I spent most of my free time in 2022 banging my head against Unity and getting core systems working (e.g. tribes, individuals, foodwebs, cultures, shaders, UI, etc). By the end of the year, a quality demo still felt far away and I still hadn’t started marketing the game.
When I was laid-off in November 2022, I used the opportunity to switch to working full-time on this project for a couple of months. I finally decoupled the marketing from the demo, and prioritized getting out a Steam page. I should have done this way earlier.

Twitter
In December 2022, I joined Twitter (@CuriousDynamics), started networking with people in the industry, and sharing the first tidbits of the game with the world.
This proved very useful because it got me making screenshots, GIFs, and videos. It helped focus my gamedev efforts on the elements that would best help marketing (e.g. finalizing the art style, showing a variety of environments, clarifying the core gameplay loops).
I made sure to connect with other gamedevs in related genres, journalists who’d written about similar games, and others across the industry. I found friendly communities like #TurnBasedThursday and got a sense of which aspects of the game attracted the most/least attention.

Reddit
I refrained from sharing anything about the game on Reddit during this period, so that when it came time to announce, I would be able to post on the big gaming-related subreddits without breaking their rules (only 10% of your site-wide posts can be self-promo).
One common marketing tip is to make random unrelated posts (e.g. cat pictures) to “save up” for self-promo. I don’t have a cat and don’t enjoy posting just for the sake of it, so I’ve tried to find topics I’m actually interested in and post questions to the AskXYZ subreddits. For example, I’m curious about history / anthropology / biology, so I’ve been posting questions in communities like AskAnthropology and have learned a lot in the process.

Steam Page Assets
The top priority was making the Steam page assets (art, trailer, GIFs, descriptions), so I focused on polishing the UI and gameplay enough to be presentable. The fine folks over at the How To Market A Game discord gave very useful feedback — it’s a community every gamedev should check out! Also be sure to check out Chris Zukowski’s excellent free class on How To Make A Steam Page.
For the art, I worked with a professional artist, and we took our time to ensure the Steam capsules captured the vibe of the game.
For the “About this Game” section of the Steam page, I narrowed down 4 core elements of the gameplay, and made a GIF, custom section header, and paragraph for each one. GIF files can’t be too large on Steam, so I had to find a balance between GIF quality and file size.
In the text, I tried to speak directly to the player, focusing on thematically-significant action verbs, e.g. “Lead our ancestors”, “Grow your tribe”, “Honor Mother Nature”.
I spent weeks on the short description of the game, asking friends, family, and internet strangers for feedback. It’s tricky to establish genre, sell the hook(s), and make it exciting all in under 300 characters. The current version is #23, and will certainly keep evolving:

Lead nomadic families through the Stone Age in this turn-based 4X strategy game with deeply simulated characters, cultures, and ecosystems. Explore the wilderness, gather and trade resources, and stand your ground in tactical combat. Discover fire, medicine, language — and survive to tell the tale.

In terms of tags, I studied those used by games next to which I want my game to appear (e.g. on Steam’s “More Like This” widget). I fiddled with the order of the tags until I could see the desired reference games in my own “More Like This” section.

Trailer
For the trailer, I consumed most of Derek Lieu’s content on making video game trailers, and got some useful feedback from Derek himself on his Video Game Trailer Academy discord (as well as from my HTMAG buddies).
I ended up making two trailers: a longer one with more in-depth gameplay for the Steam page, and a shorter one optimized for social media with a mini-teaser montage at the start, as recommended by Derek.

Choosing an announce day
By February 2023, all the pieces were in place to launch the Steam page. I had gathered ~200 followers on Twitter, and I’d tried to make genuine personal connections wherever possible. In the week before the announcement, I reached out to many of them individually, asking if they would be open to retweeting the announcement. Most said yes!
I was keen to get going and planned to make the announcement on Friday Feb 24th, so a few days prior I posted a teaser, which quickly became my most engaged-with tweet up until then.
However, people more experienced than me strongly advised me to wait till the following Monday because 3 massive games were coming out that weekend. I felt silly because I’d already said it would be Friday, but I chose to take the advice and wait a couple more days.

Steam Page Launch Day

Twitter
I quietly put up the Steam page a day early just to make sure everything ran smoothly, and on Monday Feb 27th ~6AM EST, I made the announcement on Twitter and shared the page.

Again, not viral but more than I hoped for. 135 link clicks seems decent for Twitter!
I made sure to follow up with everyone who retweeted my announcement, and I thanked them via DM, also offering to return the favor if they need support down the line.

Reddit
I made two Reddit posts, one on civ and one on gaming, which combined got ~150k views and led to ~81 visits to the Steam page.
I chose gaming (36M members) rather than pcmasterrace (7M) or pcgaming (3M) because of their larger community size and also because I got the (totally subjective) sense they tend to be a bit friendlier towards indies. I poked light-hearted fun at the “quit my job to make this game” trope to avoid some of the negative responses such posts can get, and it seemed to pay off :) That post got 213 upvotes, 77.7k views, and 88% upvote rate.
On civ, my post got 1.2k upvotes, 88.8k views, and 92% upvote rate. There are some important differences between the games but I do think certain Civilization players would enjoy Folk Emerging.
I messaged the Reddit mods before self-promoting in their communities, which seemed to help things go over well. Another thing that seemed to help (on both Reddit and Twitter) was responding to every comment I got, and trying to get a discussion going wherever possible. It bumped up my posts when their views would start to drop.

Press
I also posted a press release at Games Press. If you plan to do the same, just make sure you create your account in advance as it took almost a day to get processed, which I hadn't planned for! I got some help from people on the HTMAG discord (e.g. Jasmine) with the wording, as I’d never written a press release before.
A couple of websites wrote about the announcement:

• eXplorminate (we’d coordinated on Twitter beforehand)
• Civ Fanatics (also coordinated on Twitter)
• Turn Based Lovers (also via Twitter)
• Nerd Girl News (they saw the press release and wrote about it of their own accord)

Several other sites have also written about it since then, largely based on the press release it seems.
I emailed / messaged about a dozen journalists who’d written about similar games, as well as various streamers who play them, sharing the news about the announcement. I first made a general email template with a short GIF at the top, and I wrote a personalized intro for each person. I made sure to give some context about why I was reaching out to them (e.g. they’d reviewed a specific game similar to mine, or they were involved in a project I’m a fan of, etc). It didn’t lead to anything, but still, I’m happy to potentially be on some of their radars.

Misc
I also posted in self-promo channels on various discords, but with little to no effect.
The final thing I did was to add a Steam news event about the launch, just to make the page look more fleshed out. It caught me off-guard that Steam events require their own separate images (with different resolutions than the regular capsules) for events, so keep that in mind if doing it for the first time.

The First Two Weeks

Folk Emerging got 725 wishlists in its first 2 weeks. Here are some highlights, stats, and charts:

• 26 wishlists in the 1.5 days before I told anyone about it
• 278 wishlists total on the day I announced, mainly from Twitter and Reddit
• 57 wishlists on my first Games IndieSunday (the second spike, 7 days after announcing)

Indie Sunday (Games)
I think my Indie Sunday reddit post accounts for ~270 visits to the Steam page (more visits than from the earlier 2 reddit posts, but less wishlists).
I went down the rabbit-hole of investigating the best time of day to post on Indie Sunday. I wanted to go beyond just the info found via tools like social-rise.com, because their recommendations are based on the timing of the top 1000 posts in a subreddit, without taking into account the distribution or total number of posts in each hour. If most posts in general happen at 1PM, then it might not be so meaningful to say that most top posts are at 1PM.
I was curious to dig deeper, so I did my own analysis using Reddit’s API. Here’s the data filtered for Indie Sunday Games posts (times are in UTC):

Next Steps

An exciting moment was when a legit publisher reached out to me, having seen the game on Steam, and expressed interest in exploring the possibility of working together!
Seeing a positive response from players and getting some attention from publishers has been a big confidence boost and suggests that the game has some potential. Which is a relief, because this is the game I want to make :)

I did a money diary this exact week last year about signing the offer letter for the company I work at now. I ended up getting a 5K COL adjustment (62k > 67k) once I moved to Philly. I expressed in the previous journal that I was worried about my taxes since I moved states and work for an NYC company from PA. As many suggested in the comments, it ended up being pretty simple (I used FreeTaxUSA).

I started on a health journey last June (lost 50+ lbs!). Back then, I was in search of any kind of fitness that I would enjoy and actually go to. I ended up getting a $190/mo membership (2 classes/wk) to a RUMBLE (HIIT Boxing) studio and went 2x a week from June - Nov. In December, I bought a flat-fee holiday package that made my classes cheaper ($19/cls vs $23/cls) and more flexible, so I froze my subscription and got a 30 class package.
In January, I started strength training 4x/wk at Planet Fitness and went down to 1x/week at RUMBLE. I love my current routine, but PF and RUMBLE are both a 35 min walk from my house, and I go to the gym early in the morning. So, I’m considering joining the closer (<10 min walk), but more expensive ($72/mo) gym soon.
I’m still slowly burning through the RUMBLE holiday package and plan to cancel my subscription. I’m hoping they do a summer sale so I can buy another class package. If not, I’ll just buy classes ad hoc after I run out.

SECTION FOUR: MONEY/TRAVEL DIARY
ACCOMMODATIONS
The flight and accommodations for this flight were booked in September after getting an email from Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) about $500 tickets to Paris the exact weekend of my birthday. I stayed in a Sonder that I also booked back in September for about $480. I bought a $30, 5 GB international eSIM from Airalo. I was able to post on social media, send iMessages, and check my bank accounts with no problems and no extra data needed.

Day 1
Today is payday and the beginning of my week off. I clear my credit cards, invest my Roth deposit, and go to the gym.
After the gym, I pick up last minute toiletries ($45.35) and plane snacks ($21.48). I end up on a wild goose chase looking for a Universal Adapter ($34.39), so I get McDonald's (I wanted a Shamrock Shake) while I’m out ($9.15 - this feels expensive for McDonald's?)
My mom gives me a call around 8pm and asks if I’ve checked my bank account. Today was payday, so I had, but not since early that morning. She gifted me $200! After, I spend three hours retwisting my locs and go to bed around midnight.

Day 2
Today is Sims 4 Expansion Pack (and flight to Paris) day! I can’t install the game until 1PM ET. Lame.I do one last check to ensure I have everything I need, transfer my Paris Sinking Fund ($600) into my checking account, and then play the Sims to pass the time. At 4, I take the Regional Rail to the airport.
I breeze through TSA and read Another Country by James Baldwin until boarding begins. Upon boarding, I’m stopped and informed that my carry-on is “too big.” They were clearly picking people at random to move their bags because as the woman walked down the jet bridge with my bag, she rolled it past a man who had the exact same suitcase as me in another color. Annoying.
They don’t give me a chance to take out my laptop and snacks, this is my first time traveling internationally, I triple checked the sizing requirements, so this stressed me out. I was terrified of my bag getting lost. I vent to my best friend about the bag situation; she helps me calm down. Once we’re airborne, I spend the next 6 hours rotating between reading, watching Wakanda Forever, and listening to music.

Day 3 (my birthday!)
We land in Dublin at 8am, and I activate my international eSIM. I see my older brother gifted me $100 via Cash App. Even though it was just a quick layover, being in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day made me happy. The Irish were teeming with happiness and excitement. I board my second flight and land in Paris at 1pm, finally am reunited with my bag, and get to the section of town I’m staying in via train ($12.18).
While I wait for a friend to arrive on the train from London, I try French McDonalds per the recommendation of my best friend ($14.95 - seriously, why the hell is McDonalds so expensive?)
Friend arrives and we explore Paris! We then stop at a bakery, I grab a pain au chocolat ($1.60) and slip into a bar nearby. My friend lets everyone know it’s my birthday, and they buy us lots of rounds of shots and drinks. My friend closes the tab for the couple of drinks we actually ordered, and we head to a club that’s having a St. Patrick’s Day party around the corner.
I later try to redeem my Starbucks birthday item, but the barista gently lets me know it’s not valid in France. However, he throws in a free refresher and my friend buys me a blueberry muffin. We head back to the hotel so I can freshen up and change into my birthday dress. We take a nap and head back out for the night on the train ($8.96 RT for 2). We have dinner at a delicious restaurant, which my friend pays for.
Our last stop of the night is an Afro-Caribbean spot that has great music and friendly staff. I tell the bartender it’s my birthday and ask for a drink recommendation. The staff gifts me at least two more shots, and I decide to call it quits on alcohol for the night after that. My friend has been teasing a surprise and finally reveals it’s Disneyland! I laugh and realize I hadn’t disclosed the rest of my itinerary — I have a Disneyland reservation for Monday (after my friends went home)! However, I booked a non-park hopper ticket for Walt Disney Studios, so I’m excited to be able to experience them both thanks to my friend!
We had a late, drunk night last night so we started the day a bit late. Grabbed a quick brunch ($6.74) and head to Chessy via the train ($19.68). We got Premier Access (skip the line/lightning lane) for a handful of rides ($79.15), I bought some Stitch merch ($21.39), and we got ice cream ($5.35).
After a few hours at Disney, we head back to Paris to meet up with one of my friends from college who also lives in London. He’s a hyperextrovert and is ready to hit the town immediately. We wanted to go to the Eiffel Tower, but missed the last bus and grabbed dinner nearby ($89.96). My friend from high school started feeling a bit sick, so she went back to the hotel and my college buddy and I spend the night bar hopping, dancing, chatting, and eating until 3am ($37.44).

Both friends head back to London today but at different times. I start the day a bit late after saying goodbye to my high school friend.
My college friend and I grab breakfast at a nearby restaurant ($41.18). After that, we head out to explore an area of the city near the train station so it’s easy for him to board the 5pm train. We grab some pastries and a baguette ($11.66) and set out to explore. We saw the lock bridge, Arc de Triomphe, took goofy photos, visited the Notre Dame restoration exhibit, and danced alongside a drum parade.
On the walk back to my room, I check my email to see I missed the Eiffel Tower climbing tour I scheduled back in September. I go back to the room, let my phone charge, and pay a fee to reschedule the tour ($10.70). I head out to see the Eiffel and other tourists sites via a Sundown Seine river cruise ($8.99 for 4 bus tickets).
After a few hours, I’m beat and head back to the Sonder. I got a Poke Bowl from a French/Hawaiian/Sushi fusion place we passed by last night and some chicken wings ($22.89). I spend the rest of the night relaxing.

I really want to sleep in, but the Climbing tour doesn’t allow cancellations within 24 hours and charge no-shows. I head out around 9:30 am. Despite being tired and annoyed, the tour was great. I have a lunch Steakhouse reservation at 2:30pm at Disney, so I’m sort of in a rush and happy the tour ends right on time at 12:30. I hop on the train ($10.70 RT tickets) and make it to Disneyland at 1:30 pm.
With an hour before my reservation, I stop into a bunch of stores and buy merch ($70.60). I make my way to The Steakhouse for lunch ($37.44). I am stuffed, so I walk a couple laps around Walt Disney Studios to get a lay of the land, take photos, and walk off lunch before indulging in some shows and rides.
A couple hours go by and I grab some dessert ($4.28) and rent a portable charger ($4.28). I wanted to ride Crush’s Coaster before my dinner reservation, but it had a crazy wait time and premier access sold out for the day, so I buy premier access for and ride Avenger’s Flight Force instead ($12.84), return the portable charger, and head to dinner at Bistrot Chez Remy ($58.83).
I stay until 9:30 pm for the light show, have snacks ($9.63), then head back to the hotel to shower, pack, and sleep.

I have a protein bar for breakfast, check out at 10am, and grab a final ticket ($12.29) to the airport. I start to feel lightheaded and try to drink some water, but it doesn’t help much. So, I get McDonalds ($8.91) before boarding my flight and feel a lot better. I grab a Kinder ($1.72) from a nearby store because I’d never tried one. Amazing!
I am excited to get home and get back into my normal meal prep and exercise routine. I make it back to Philly at 7pm. I take a shower and go straight to bed.

While I’d never spend close to this in a normal week, celebrating my birthday in a way I enjoy is very important to me. I’m excited to travel more in the future.
I feel like I spent too much money on individual transport tickets; I should’ve brought the booklet of 10. But $73 for a bunch of days is still pretty cheap. I had a sinking fund of $600 originally, but the cash gifts from my mom and brother increased it to $900.
Overall, Paris was cheaper than I expected. I was worried $600 wouldn’t be enough. I picked up the tab a lot of places since there wasn’t an easy way for us to split the bill in multiple currencies (USD, pounds, euros), and I’m trying to hit the minimum spend on a new credit card. Had I been more willing to figure out bill splitting, I probably could've stayed under $600.
Relatedly - this trip inspired me to revisit my goal of becoming fully fluent in Spanish. French-speakers were visibly irritated when I spoke English (which I wasn’t upset about and expected). I did practice some French (beyond the basics like bonjour and merci) with my sister before the trip, but it always came out sounding like Spanish. So, after the first day, I resorted to starting conversations in Spanish.
If they spoke Spanish, great! However, many were caught off guard and didn’t speak Spanish, so I would then ask, in Spanish, if they spoke English, then converse in English — which made them noticeably nicer. Definitely gonna work on brushing up my Spanish and work towards fluency. I eventually want to learn French and ASL, too.

Air Force Vet here first time on REDDIT. Diagnosed with sciatic nerve pain in right leg from bulging disc at l4/l5 in 2017. Have 1 in-service medical record for low back pain radiating to right leg 2007. Was told to take Motrin. Separated Sep 2007. Saw VA examiner Oct 2008 and detailed monthly pain episodes and pointed to 2007 in-service record (all recorded in exam notes). Exam doc said he could find no in-service record which is clearly false. Never saw these exam notes until 2022. Trusted VA decision back then. Filed an initial claim for service connection in 2018 but was denied due to chronicity and doc said gap in records from in-service 2007 to 2015. I didn’t have many records between those dates because I would just treat at home with Motrin. Provided that info in a lay statement. Also, he missed the 2008 exam notes. I did not have additional evidence so I sat on it. Met with a VSO in 2022 she immediately located that 2008 exam and said it was the additional evidence needed. I also located 2012 doc visit notes for 3 week episode of low back pain to right hip. I also obtained an independent medical opinion from a local specialist. NOT a va chop shop, an actual specialist who had never done a va opinion prior. VSO provided a sample for writing a nexus and he agreed to write it after doing an exam and reviewing my records he agreed it was more likely than not service connected. Also, I was afraid to see VA for exam since the last two were failures and she said I could see the specialist and ask if he would do the DBQ. He again agreed so I submitted a supplemental claim in 2022 pointing to 2008 VA exam error and notes detailing chronic pain, also I submitted my IMO and DBQ from a highly trained specialist that deals specifically with lower back spinal disc issues. The VA attempted to schedule a VA exam but I stated I already submitted a DBQ. They proceeded to request a VA records review only IMO. The VA IMO was even worse than any previous VA exam. The VA IMO examiner said there was no in-service record which the VA has already acknowledged there is and they proceeded to say that there was a 10-15 year gap between service and medical records which is clearly false. They did not look at any of the evidence I submitted. None of it is listed in their IMO as items reviewed as part of their opinion. The 2008 VA exam, the 2012 medical records, or even the 2007 in-service record previously submitted and acknowledged by the VA are not listed in the VA IMO. The VA denied based on this insufficient opinion and referenced no chronicity but did not reference any of my supplemental claim documents. They ignored all my documents and even said their VA IMO which was a general med doc was what they were relying on for their decision and the 2018 exam. How can they all ignore the evidence? How can they weigh their gen med opinion higher than a specialist? How can they not discount in any way the additional evidence I submitted as insufficient or not valuable and just ignore it altogether? Lay statements, medical records, the 2008 va exam, my specialist IMO and DBQ all just ignored? My VSO is not good unfortunately I had to do all of the narratives and write ups myself. Then they submitted old documents and missed others like scientific evidence I had obtained. Now they won’t help me at all. Refuse to return my calls. I’m on my own and need help. I requested a higher level review but I’m afraid they’ll just keep ignoring the evidence. They list it in the documents received and that is the only reference to any of the evidence I submitted. HELP! Feel like I need an attorney to punch holes in all these denials. I see now why folks hire attorneys! It seems so obvious to me but maybe I’m missing something. Seems like most attorneys only want to help people who already have service connection though. I would like legitimate representation. If the VA would provide logical rational that would be one thing but this is something different entirely. Any advice for the higher level review would be nice. I’m in Huntsville Alabama if that helps with comments. Thanks in advance for any advice!

With that all being said, this completely concludes my super long rewatch series. Once again, thank you to all who actually followed this series at any point! With that being said, I figured I should briefly talk about what I have planned in the future. Well for starters, I still have to continue my poll series. And now that I’ve completed this series, stating my opinions should be even easier now. Also, the new seasons are coming up soon. So I may or may not add onto this series once the episodes air, whether it be doing full-on episode by episode reviews, or just going by the slightly more efficient commentary style I did where I go through a few episodes per post. On top of this, I’ve also recently watched a couple of fanseasons on YT, that being Disventure Camp and Adventure Camp. And I think I have something planned for that

Intro

Well…it’s official. After a ton of hours of watching and analyzing, 48 posts, linking many moments from YouTube, 2764 individual rankings determined, various calculations, and (most importantly) countless walls of text expressing my opinions…I AM FINALLY DONE WITH THIS SERIES!🥳 And it only took a bit more than a year and 7 months since my very first post regarding this🤪. Though with that being said, I would like to wrap this all up with one nice long final wall of text. It’s worth noting, this is especially long and probably extremely wordy. So I put headers on this post so y’all can skip around. But just to start, I’d like to give a runthrough of my whole experience doing this

Tangent on this series

Now if you know me pretty well, you’ll likely know almost ever since I got into TD, I really developed this obsession with trying to rank stuff, especially TD characters. I even remember the first days of me trying to make my own tier list ranking every character and had Noah and Cody as my hindsight top 2 (and no, I didn’t ship Noco at the time). However, my opinions have changed a lot throughout, and while I still love both characters, they don’t appeal to me quite as much as before. At this point, I’ve pretty much updated my character tier lists almost countless times. In fact, it even got to a point where I milked the fuck out of tier list posts before. There was even a period of time where I would post an update to the sub every week or two, and chances are I might’ve posted even more frequently if it wasn’t for the tier list trend rule, LOL. And for whatever reason, even to this day, I tend to start getting obsessive and nitpicky about trying to order each character and pinpoint my feelings on them as accurately as possible. There’s a reason why even before I started this series, I had a very nuanced continuous number system to further showcase exactly where each character falls on each category of my ranking system. Though nonetheless, this leads me to the one day where something just sparked within me. Essentially, I was like “Huh, I wonder what my opinions on each TD character would be if I average my opinion on them out episode by episode?”. I figured it would definitely be easier if I laid all of this out on Google Sheets. I originally just planned to try to calculate each average for each character based on a not as specific number scale based on my rankings with them. But after a bit of time, I figured the one way to really make this accurate is by actually making the number scale far more continuous than discrete. And then overtime, I also ran into other factors
There’s no doubt a lot of this series was done very spontaneously. Afterall, it didn’t even start with TDI originally. I wanted to try this whole ranking chart for TDA, and I don’t think I even planned on writing a review about the season either. But as time went by, I just figured “Hey, if I’m rewatching these seasons and trying to make something where I have to look into each episode enough to pinpoint my thoughts on each character there, why not express a bunch of thoughts I have while rewatching?”. And alas, as well as my initial review and rankings for TDA, my rewatch commentary episode by episode was born. After rewatching TDA, I then went back to TDI since at the time, I thought TDA and TDI were the seasons I wanted to rewatch the most. And that’s where I started just writing out various thoughts I had and things I picked up on or saw with more clarity as I rewatched the episodes. Though even then, I didn’t go through each episode that thoroughly at the time. In fact, my TDI commentary was literally only three parts. I did actually plan to make it just two, but then I divided the second part into two parts after some people told me it was too long. Then once TDA came, I divided my commentary into a bit more parts than before and started going through the episodes a bit more thoroughly. It wasn’t till WT and ROTI where I really started making extensive comments on a handful of moments throughout each episode. However, it got to a point where I felt like I was bringing up way too many minor moments that ‘stuck out’ to me in my commentary, and there was a certain point where I realized not much people will care about looking through every minor moment I found funny. So after my AS commentary rolled around (where I really hyped it up as a dark period of time filled with anger and ranting💀), I incorporated this feature where I separately linked moments from YouTube I deemed as more minor that I found amusing, just labeling the link as the name of the character(s) involved in said moment. However, even doing that proved to be too much for me eventually as RR rolled around, and I realized it was taking forever to be done with each episode. I feel like sometimes, I really fell under the trap of being excessively ‘detail-oriented’ and bringing up almost every moment I found even slightly amusing. Thankfully during the 5th part of my RR post, I decided to get rid of the feature of linking minor moments all together after I realized probably no one even bothers going through them anyways. And I just mainly kept commentary down to more major points regarding each episode, although I still took notes on various minor stuff, just for me to reference. I’m glad to say it worked very well, and I was able to power through each episode quite faster and pump out vast majority of the series before my recent winter break was over
Then there’s also the fact I took a huge break from this series for several months on end. As some of you might remember, around this time about a year and a month ago, after finishing up All-Stars, I loosely admitted I had to get my shit together in real life, namely with school. Though even aside from that, I think I was just heavily burned out from doing the series. In fact, it took WAY longer than I anticipated to find the motivation to start it up again. Hell, I even tried to start it back up during the summer, but ironically, I didn’t do so until sometime in fall. Ironically, when I took this extensive break from the series, I was finished with AS and only had two more seasons to go. But given just how burned out I was, it still took me more than a year to completely wrap things up. Though the most important part is, I FINALLY GOT IT DONE! And despite this, I would like to think I didn’t necessarily sacrifice quality a whole lot (despite the lack of planning behind this), even if it’s partially because this series has dragged out even longer than Derrie at this point LOL. If I have to be honest though, this certainly took a surprising amount of work. Like I kinda knew it would be a lot, but I didn’t expect it to be as tedious as it was at times. Even pumping out the very first post (my initial TDA review) was quite a drag and ended up taking longer than I wanted it too, and I remember being relieved when it was done. And that feeling just amplified after every season I tackled. And I can say after releasing this post, there is no other time I feel this as strongly as now. Oh yeah and on a side note, I’m happy to say I’m actually doing marginally better in real life now than before (and now that this series is done, I think I can especially be at a peace of mind and focus even more on other stuff)
With all of this in mind, do I regret doing this series? All things considered, not really. As I said, it got extremely tedious at times, and I definitely got very burned out. And I even admitted during my PI review that I had various doubts or anxious thoughts regarding this series (though despite this still decided to pull through). But I think as of getting this series done, this has solidified my opinions far more, and hopefully I won’t make a bunch of tier list updates in the future💀. On top of this, I did have quite a bit of fun typing out my thoughts at times, especially the rants. That and it was certainly satisfying seeing people appreciate my commentary a lot, especially with my huge SMS tirade I dedicated one single part for XD. With that being said, do I ever plan on doing this again? Absolutely not. Although it’s not necessarily a bad idea to take some notes when you are doing a rewatch if you want to remember more stuff, or actually have a stronger opinion on various things (especially good for when you want to geek out about TD with others, or debate with someone about something). However, I don’t think making a ranking chart is super necessary. Ultimately, I’d say only do this if you have a ton of free time and are super obsessed with ranking stuff, otherwise you will probably end up like me and be burned out from doing this series from time to time. In fact, I think easily the biggest weakness of this series (I reckon a lot of you probably agree with this as well) is how inconsistent I was 'momentum-wise' as far as getting it done. I feel like this would’ve been super great to pump out earlier on while the pandemic was still going. But as it stands, I happened to start this series towards the end of the summer of 2021 back when I was going into my freshman year of college, and unfortunately did not have as much time to pump these posts out super fast. I also have to admit, I do sometimes think maybe if I made it a review series, I wouldn’t have to worry as much about trying to ‘adjust’ and could comment on a lot of specific moments. But I feel like doing episode reviews would be kind of more redundant at this point, and doing it the way I did made things somewhat more efficient. With that being said, I could do an episode review series for once the new seasons come out👀. Aside from this, I realize I probably could’ve also tried to make things more interesting by adding some gimmicks to my commentary, similar to Ultranatic Productions or u/twofacedflyer and u/WOTWUZTHAT back in their respective series’ they did (or ongoing series in Ultranatic’s case). But bigger picture-wise, I’m pretty satisfied with how this series turned out
Overall this was a fun but incredibly long ride. In case I haven’t made it clear enough, I’m honestly extremely relieved to be done with this. But on top of this, I’m also incredibly grateful to everyone who has followed this series. Like I said, I didn’t even expect this to become a full-blown series, but I truly appreciate everyone who actually cared enough to read through my ramblings and comment on them. Before I bring up the people who involved themselves in this series, I’d like to give a shout-out to two YouTubers in particular who I took some inspiration from time to time with my commentary, namely Ultranatic Productions and penguinz0 (or as a lot of you might know him as MoistCr1TiKaL), both of who are absolute legends. For starters, there’s Ultranatic Productions (AKA u/Ultranatic on Reddit) who is doing his own series of reviewing every TD episodes, except this time far more thoroughly and intricately compared to me. I mean, I thought doing this series was a lot, relatively speaking. But I can only imagine the work Ultranatic has to do what he does, from not only writing out a script where he articulates all his thoughts and points, but then also records himself saying everything he has to say and then even has to do a bunch of editing afterwards, along with various gimmicks he incorporates in his videos. I’d imagine it’s a ton of work, and Ultranatic’s dedication to this is honestly pretty admirable. On top of this, he brings a ton of really cool points, has a lot of unique and nuanced takes, and incorporates a lot of great gags. Next up is penguinz0, who doesn’t talk about TD, but is a commentary YouTuber I’ve grown to absolutely love. I really love his dry wit, along with his ability to absolutely roast terrible people on the internet. I think quite a bit of my commentary style was inspired by him, and I even took a few pages out of Ultranatic here and there

Fuck, the dude even made some good rebuttals against my review (big euphemism btw💀) on not only my most hated episode, but one of the most universally disliked episodes in the series. And on a random note, he’s also just proof that you don’t need to have a bunch of really strong negative opinions to stick out (dude likes pretty much every character yet still manages to be a very interesting TD discusser)

On top of this, he’s yet another one of the people who actually took time to look at my rankings more in detail. Though despite all his positive feedback, along with Fense, he also wasn’t afraid to challenge and question my opinions quite a bit, even making some points that I haven’t considered before. And in retrospect, as a more passive and non-confrontational person who doesn’t usually like debating people a lot (mainly on the spot), this is definitely a trait I admire
• u/Ace_TD: Practically the face of this sub at this point, and the man who truly lives up to his name, the dude not only commented on my series quite often, even at times leaving very in-depth comments regarding my points and even adding onto various points I made in various ways. Though he has also talked about and inadvertently advertised my series to the TD Discord. Plus outside of this, he’s just simply a all-around amazing dude. He preaches a ton of facts on the TD Discord server, and he's just generally very fun to talk to

Aside from them, I’d also like to give a couple honorable mentions to u/twofacedflyer and u/WOTWUZTHAT, both of which have done similar series before mine that consisted of talking about characters. And while I didn’t totally plan for this to become a full-on series, I think they partially inspired me for when it did become a full series if that makes sense. And as I said, the format of this post is pretty inspired by u/twofacedflyer in various ways. And I’ll admit even in general, there were times I referred back to posts of his series whenever I got lost on how exactly to structure various posts of mine (including this one). As of now, they aren’t active on this sub anymore for varying reasons, but I had a real blast with both of them during their time here
And lastly, I’d like to thank this whole subreddit in general. It’s generally filled with a lot of open-minded and accepting people who are genuinely caring and willing to acknowledge other people as they express their thoughts. Now granted, I’m aware Reddit is far from perfect and is a lot of times not usually held in high regard (although it isn’t as problematic as say, Twitter or TikTok). But I think this subreddit is really proof that there is good to Reddit. And the support I got throughout this series is proof of that

Thoughts on Total Drama

If you’ve followed my series or even generally read through enough things I’ve pumped out throughout my time on Reddit, you’ll likely know I’ve typed many rants on various facets of this show. Though despite this…it’s still quite good overall, and maybe even great. Granted, it has a lot of flaws and even some writing decisions that will forever baffle me (one of the most noteworthy examples being the winners losing their money at the end in ironically the widely regarded two best seasons). And I remember binge-watching 6teen a long while back thinking it was overall a lot more clean written than TD, which I think kind of gives the idea that there are probably many better handled shows overall. But at the same time, TD has way too many awesome highs for me to not like it. And outside of the two infamous seasons (AS and PI), I can safely say the positives will always outweigh the negatives. And if anything, even the various flaws the show has just makes it more fun to talk about sometimes. IDK what it is, but I low-key find ranting on things a guilty pleasure. I’ve said this before, but there’s a reason whenever I talk elaborately about something negatively, my walls of text will usually be longer than when I actually write about something positive. And there’s just a certain type of satisfaction I get from trying to find various ways to express and intricately word my distaste for stuff I don’t like, especially when it’s stuff that makes me passionately angry. So IG in a way…I have to give a thank you to aspects of the show like YRBKM, SMS, the Gwent breakup aftermath, CHFIL Sierra, Feral Zeke, MacArthur, Amy, the joke of the winner losing their money or especially PI Chris💀
Now for a runthrough on what I think of every season, Island was a solid start to the show and overall a great season. It isn’t without its problems such as various inconsistent or weird moments, the main antagonist being rather lackluster (mainly in the gameplay department), or especially Gwen’s treatment as a finalist and the fact it’s one of the two seasons with easily one of the absolute worst “jokes” in the entire series. But despite this, it still has many great things about it, and a generally chill atmosphere
Next came Action which was also good overall, but has quite more noteworthy flaws, especially the aftermath of the Gwent fallout, along with Beth’s character-assassinating romance plot. However, it is the best season as far as challenges go, and I happen to prefer the antagonist over the one in TDI…well, at least once Courtney comes into the picture (we don’t talk about Justin). The finalist pairs are also one of the weaker ones overall, but even then, their interactions and the finale itself actually worked surprisingly well, despite the very ending also leaving a fair amount to be desired
Then came World Tour, which at best was a very epic and adventurous change of pace from the first two seasons. And it even implemented musicals as a unique feature of this season (which included a lot of bangers albeit a few flops), and on a side note, introduced this truly amazing piece of background music I really wish there was an extended version of that I could download and listen to for hours on end😭. The antagonist is easily the best in the entire series, both gameplay and character-wise. And the finalist choices were practically perfect narratively, despite both having some more glaring flaws gameplay-wise here and there. And the finale was shaping up to be absolutely amazing…but unfortunately ended on a really sour note. Aside from this, there are a few other controversial plots and writing decisions I don’t like. However, one thing I especially respect about WT is how high the stakes were. This season really feels like you had to actually play the game in order to get far, rather that just being nice. In fact, this might just be one of the best and most intriguing seasons for those who especially care more about the strategic aspect of TD. Overall, I feel like WT is one of those seasons that just went especially ballsy with its writing and actually did really well with the execution at times. Though at the same time, there are multiple areas really lacking in execution and some especially terrible lows. Despite this, it is overall a better season than TDA, but there had yet to be a season that topped the quality of Island
That is until Revenge of the Island came along. After spending 3 seasons getting to know the first generation cast, we then got introduced to a set of new characters, and a really great one at that. Personally, I think this is easily the peak of the series. Generally speaking, pretty much almost every character is utilized really well (barring Staci). And it also has a lot of especially epic moments along with an adventurous feel. The pacing is also really good, and there are many great jokes. Scott as an antagonist is also amazing, even though he also isn't without flaws and doesn't quite top Alejandro. On top of this, I think this season does a great job of balancing both drama and friendships, and handling both really well. There are various conflicts that are surprisingly complex, engaging, or also entertaining. But mixed with that are still a lot of wholesome and interactions. And even generally speaking, it just seemed to be able to handle and balance most aspects of the show really well. That and it also has easily my two favorite episodes in the entire series. Really, ROTI is a masterpiece all-around, and I could gush about it all day if I wanted
Though unfortunately, the very season after ROTI did NOT hold up to its quality, as the worst season coincidentally happened right after the best season😭. I know I’m not being brave when I call this the worst season. There’s just so many bad writing decisions, and it also has easily two of my least favorite episodes in the franchise, which funny enough both happen to be responsible for screwing over two very prominent characters who had a lot of development potential. And on that topic, it does that a lot. It feels like at least half of the cast loses a ton of brain-cells during their elimination episode…or in various other episodes outside of that too. And part of it ties to what has to be easily my least favorite antagonist yet, who also happens to be tied with probably ‘objectively’ (I used this word loosely tho) one of the worst protagonists in the series as well (Mike vs. Mal). And yeah, on that topic, the main plot is also just atrocious and ends on one of the worst notes possible. But even despite this, it still has its good moments and enough positives for me to not hate it. There are a handful of characters I actually like, and I’d say Zoey was still good this season despite her flaws, and not a bad finalist. Though generally speaking, it’s just such a huge disappointment in many ways and easily the lowest point of the franchise
After this disappointing trainwreck came Pahkitew Island, where the writers decided to go completely balls to the wall with the cartoonish aspects of the show. I will say, it is better than AS overall, but…only because it has better highs (including my absolute favorite character in the series). On the contrary, I think it actually has worse lows. Funny enough, it just so happens that this season has some of the highest highs of all time, but also some of the absolute lowest lows, including my two absolute least favorite season-by-season character appearances in the entire series. It especially doesn’t help that while LCAOBP isn’t my least favorite episode overall, it ends ‘regular’ Total Drama in one of the worst ways possible
Thankfully though, the one spin-off that came after this happened to actually be quite good, and definitely a big step up from the previous two seasons. Not only did it start new with the game format, but it also started fresh in terms of writing-quality. Granted, even then it is far from perfect. There are quite a few glaring flaws for me as far as characters go, especially including the existence of my least favorite protagonist in the entire series (even worse than AS Mike). But even then, the season had the advantage of screen-time being distributed especially more evenly, to where even if some characters sucked, it wasn’t always enough to drag the episode down. In fact, aside from ROTI, it’s the one season that has no full-on bad episodes for me. And the fact I find the host vastly superior and that it’s responsible for the existence of my TD waifu, both especially give it an edge. Overall, I think this season was quite refreshing and satisfying after the previous two seasons, and I’m proud to call it yet another higher point of TD and quite a good end to the franchise
And then lastly there’s Total Dramarama, although I haven’t watched it in a fat minute and don’t plan on covering it as of this series. Though from what I remember from watching it a long while back, I actually liked it for the most part. There were some occasional moments I really didn’t like, and the Chef torture could sometimes go too far for my liking. But for the most part, it’s pretty entertaining and has some plots I really like. All I’ll say is my favorite episode is definitely “Having the Timeout of our Lives”, with my least favorite being “Total Eclipse of the Fart” like many others
So overall, Total Drama is a pretty great and iconic series despite its flaws, and I am proud to call myself a fan of the show. I mean, there’s no other reason I would be this dedicated to talking about it. It would be awkward and a waste of time if I looked into and discussed this show for so long, only for the end result to be that I don’t like it (and I know YFWD would absolutely decimate me LMFAO). Fresh TV, you are awesome, and I really look forward to the upcoming new seasons

Now it’s time for my general ratings regarding Total Drama, and this time on a scale of 100. I should also say, I’ve always had a hard time fully deciding my season rankings, so I figured I’d make a more intricate attempt to gauge my exact opinions on each season. And through this, I made a ranking table, where I rate multiple different facets of the show from 0 to 100. Now it’s worth noting I made more specific calculations for the episodes and character portion, and some rougher calculations for the romance and finalists categories. I also based the finale category mainly on my ranking of each episode of said finale. And the rest are more rough estimates. And on a last note, I stuck with the 147 season-by-season character incarnations when determining the scores for the characters category (so no background characters, cameos, or Mike’s personalities other than Mal). So these are likely not 100% accurate, but considering I’m mainly just using this to try to order my seasons, I don’t think it’s too big of a deal. Not to mention the scores are rounded by 0.5 increments
