I'm one of the applicants taking the UPCAT sa june 3-4 and it's just frustrating na everyone (parents, relatives, etc) is pressuring me that I need to pass. Na para bang UP is the one and only "good" university sa Pilipinas 😭
Kasi even before I passed my application, I didn't think of UP as my dream school, I didn't even have a dream school. Pero ayon I was pressured kasi maganda daw sa UP (I agree naman, pero I don't see myself surviving in an environment I don't feel comfortable in)
Tsaka recently I took an interest in another state university, I did my research, and I just fell in love with the place. It just seems peaceful and overall the perfect environment for a person like me. Para ba kasing if I'm in one of the big four it's like everyone is watching my every move. The moment I fail lahat sila lakas makajudge.
Don't mean to make UP sound bad, it's just the perception of the people around me towards UP. Masyado nila gino-glorify na para bang it's the only choice at wala nang iba pa 😭. Right now sobrang prepared ko na majudge ng buong angkan ko after I fail the entrance HAHAHA. Even if I did pass, i dont think tutuloy ako, bahala na mga judgemental relatives ko huhu

My Boyfriend (28M) and I (27F) have been together for 7 years. We met in college and were friends before we got together. Before he met me, he was very into clubbing, drinking and meeting new people. I have always been a homebody and simpleton. I enjoyed spending time with my family and having a close network of friends along with spending time in nature. I have always lived in Big cities while he only moved there due to College and was from a smaller town.
When we got together, he somewhat adopted my lifestyle, going on hikes, seeing and enjoying nature, but not once and I made it very clear to him did he have to give up going on night outs and clubbing.
We’ve experienced everything. I am his first relationship and he is my first adult relationship. We lost our virginities to each other, I taught him how to drive, we lived all our 20’s together.
During the pandemic in 2020, we were long distance as financially it was better for him to move back to his hometown as he could work from home. He was renting an apartment with his brother in the city at the time and I was still living with my parents. I had advised him and his brother to move back. During that time one of my grandparents who I am super close with passed away and I became very depressed. I made some bad decisions and ended up losing a lot of money putting me in debt.
End of 2021, Boyfriend (28M) got an offer for a new job in a new city. I (27F) was also having issues with my employer and decided that this was the world giving me a sign to get a new job and move with my boyfriend to the new city. For the first time in my life I moved out of my parents house and moved in with my boyfriend to a brand new city. The accommodation we got was a bit out in the countryside that there was no pedestrian path outside our door or public transport closeby and to do or go anywhere we first had to drive.
A few months into living together, my boyfriend ended up not enjoying his new job and I ended up getting diagnosed with PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) so we were both experiencing our own struggles. At that same time, I had also decided to further my studies and pursue a Masters Degree.
We both work as Engineers so we are working long hours too and both come home very tired. I tend to do most of the cooking and food preparation part though he is capable and sometimes do it on the weekends. The Laundry and Cleaning is split between us while the Dishes is his task. We got a dishwasher to make it more convenient for us too.
After 6-8 months of living in our new home and visiting my parents back in the city every few months, I had realised that I hated our new home. I felt imprisoned as I couldn’t just get up and leave without having to get into the car. Our landlord does have dogs so that has helped with my mental health. I have suffered with anxiety all my life and get severe seasonal depression in the winter as all of my deceased grandparents' death anniversaries fall in the winter and so do 2 of their birthdays too. My depression got so bad that i wouldn’t shower for weeks or brush my teeth for days too. Unfortunately I am high functioning, so I would still get up everyday against my will to go to work and do my chores. The house was becoming a mess as I would get home and not do any laundry or cleaning as I would be so tired so all I did was cook and then work on my college work. At the start of this year, my sister and her longtime partner got married and so everyone was looking at us next. One week ago, our close college friends who were a couple got married too. Exactly one week from the wedding while my Boyfriend (28M) was on Tiktok, he casually mentioned single life and so I said do you want to be single and he went silent. The conversation all just came down on that day. I asked him what he wanted and he said that for him to be ready to move onto the next stage in life, he felt like he wanted to explore life. I asked him if he wanted to separate then and he said no he wanted to be with me. I said the only solution here for least resentment towards each other is for us to separate. He then asked if I was willing to open the relationship and I immediately said no. It’s monogamy for me or nothing else. So we have decided to separate. I will be moving back to my hometown while he continues to live in our current accommodation. Unfortunately, due to my finances, I am still living with him. I am in the process of finding a new job in my hometown so that I can move back in with my parents.
I just want to add that my boyfriend (28M) enjoys porn on a daily basis which was no problem to me until he told me at the start of this year that it is fantasy for us to be in a threesome with another girl. The house was becoming a mess as I would get home and not do any laundry or cleaning as I would be so tired so all I did was cook and then work on my college work. At the start of this year, my sister and her longtime partner got married and so everyone was looking at us next. One week ago, our close college friends who were a couple got married too. Exactly one week from the wedding while my Boyfriend (28M) was on Tiktok, he casually mentioned single life and so I said do you want to be single and he went silent. The conversation all just came down on that day. I asked him what he wanted and he said that for him to be ready to move onto the next stage in life, he felt like he wanted to explore life. I asked him if he wanted to separate then and he said no he wanted to be with me. I said the only solution here for least resentment towards each other is for us to separate. He then asked if I was willing to open the relationship and I immediately said no. It’s monogamy for me or nothing else. So we have decided to separate. I will be moving back to my hometown while he continues to live in our current accommodation. Unfortunately, due to my finances, I am still living with him. I am in the process of finding a new job in my hometown so that I can move back in with my parents.
I just want to add that my boyfriend (28M) enjoys porn on a daily basis which was no problem to me until he told me at the start of this year that it is fantasy for us to be in a threesome with another girl. When I was around 11 years old she took me to an orthodontist. I had to get a palate expander for a couple of months and then braces for about a year. I did the palat expanded and got the braces on, but then she never took me again.
I had the braces for around 3 years in my mouth, without ever adjusting them, so they were just on there without actually moving my teeth. (Which.is very bad for the teeth, as one could guess) When I was around 13/14 I told her I want to remove them. She told me that I'm old enough and I should make my own dentist appointments. (Which 13 year old does that, even adults struggle with that)
So I did. I removed the braces and my teeth shifted back to their head ache causing position.
When I was 15 I dropped out of school (Like all of her children), and was working in a restaurant. As my teeth hindered me from speaking clearly, I knew I had to do something myself. I moved out from home and got my own apartment. At 17 years old I went to an orthodontist again, but now it was too late and I needed jaw surgery to fix my bite. So I had braces for a second time and did the surgery. My bite felt right for the first time in my life!
But my teeth didn't like all of these procedures, because I've never learnt how to take care of my teeth properly. I had to learn it the hard way with a lot of fillings (15+) and a root canal. Since then I care for my teeth religiously but that doesn't fix the damage that's already done. So theres a lot more to come in the following years.
I'm now 26. I got my high school diploma and currently studying at university. My teeth shifted a bit and I probably need some sort of orthodontic treatment again, even though I wear a retainer every night. She still doesn't acknowledge why I have problems my teeth and would never consider it could be her fault. This makes me so angry and sick, because I just want acknowledgement. I don't want money or help. I just wan't: "I'm sorry, I should've been better".

This is a bit of a long and personal post, but I wanted to share with all of you, how my journey in Guild Wars 2 impacted my life and my mental outlook.
I remember the time I began playing Guild Wars 2 for real, before Heart of Thorns was released. I remember joining these trains in The Silverwastes organized by a commander called Tyu. Their runs were very popular, and they were on a fixed schedule, and I remember, how I sometimes sat in a taxi-party spamming the join map button for sometimes half an hour, because the map-instances would fill up so fast. Chest farming in SW was very popular back then, because of the high amount of gold you could generate per hour, and Tyu’s runs were very well organized, efficient and fast. Back then I was exclusively a solo-player, in all online games and on the internet in general. I was reserved, I kept to myself, and I did not like having to interact with others too much. I would just observe from outside, and I disliked most interactions I had online with strangers. This would all come to change, with time.
Something that I always really admired in Tyu was their patience and their thoughtfulness of the members of the train. For instance, if an enemy would be on a chest, and it was attacking players and interrupting them, as they were opening the chest, Tyu would halt the entire train and call for everyone to kill the monster. The train was fast, and you had to keep up, but Tyu never lead selfishly, and they would even scold people a bit for being too egoistical, calling for them to help others, only tag with 1 attack to maximize how many people can participate in events, kills etc.
Tyu’s way of leading people, and their values and priorities stirred something in me, and I knew inside, I wanted to do the same, and i wanted to share these values, celebrate these values and be an example myself. But years passed, and I played very little Guild Wars 2 after the release of Heart of Thorns. I would be on and off on breaks, still keeping to myself. This changed later on.
I think my experience participating in Tyu’s trains is a pretty good way to symbolize the Guild Wars 2 community overall, as a contrast to my experience with other online communities. In Guild Wars 2, people fall over each other to help each other, while my normal experience with online gaming was people going out of their way to ruin something for others. The normalcy in online gaming culture was edgy, it was making fun of others, it was relishing in the enjoyment of ruining others’ experience. This was my expectation at least.
Many years later, after the release of Path of Fire, I would return again and play, and since chest farming in The Silverwastes was dead, I would journey on, looking for a new mind-numbing and relaxing train, and I found Auric Basin Bauble Farming. Here, I discovered another amazing commander, who would take things even further than Tyu. They cared so much for the value of inclusivity that they would one time, after many warnings, end the train entirely in protest, because people were rushing ahead and soloing events or veterans before the slower members of the train could catch up. The same spark ignited in me, and I finally knew, I wanted to get my own commander tag and do this myself. I wanted to lead inclusive, informative, helpful trains and events.
But real life happens, and I was reaching a critical point in my studies, and I had to travel to a foreign country and learn a new language, and I had no time to think about Guild Wars 2. It was a stressful and hard time for me, and to make a long story short, I did not have a great time, and I developed anxiety due to the pressure of everything. When I returned home, I was sort of lost, so I started back up in Guild Wars 2, and I finally got my commander tag, and I ran my first train and event.
And oh boy, did I just stumble over a passion of mine
I started out with some bounty trains in Sandswept Isles, helping people completing collections for the 32-slot bag, and some HoT Hero Point trains, helping new players. And before long, with immense help, support and inspiration from my girlfriend Skye, I made a discord server dedicated to my events, and I began live-streaming as well. 2 years later, I have led hundreds of events, at least 50 Hero Point trains, founded a large and inclusive Guild Wars 2 community, and despite my breaks and struggles with my mental health in real life, I have loved every part of this journey.
With my streams and events, I have come out of my shell, and despite battling anxiety, I would put myself out there, fighting a horrible self-worth and a crippling self-doubt, and the support I was met with was just incredible. The players of Guild Wars 2 have such a capacity to show care and look out for each other. I continue to be amazed by the considerate and thoughtful nature of the atmosphere in this community, probably because it is such a contrast to what I traditionally would expect from online gaming communities.
I have recently come to realize, how all of these experiences with Guild Wars 2, the commanders and the players, have shaped and formed me into a different person. A more open person, who wants to share, who wants to change things for the better, who wants to interact with others and who is not afraid to go out there and do something, no matter what others might think or say, because, I have been proved time and time again, that [kind] people are out there, and if they are given a platform, they will shine through everything else.

Their runs were very popular, and they were on a fixed schedule, and I remember, how I sometimes sat in a taxi-party spamming the join map button for sometimes half an hour, because the map-instances would fill up so fast. Chest farming in SW was very popular back then, because of the high amount of gold you could generate per hour, and Tyu’s runs were very well organized, efficient and fast. Back then I was exclusively a solo-player, in all online games and on the internet in general. I was reserved, I kept to myself, and I did not like having to interact with others too much. I would just observe from outside, and I disliked most interactions I had online with strangers. This would all come to change, with time.
Something that I always really admired in Tyu was their patience and their thoughtfulness of the members of the train. For instance, if an enemy would be on a chest, and it was attacking players and interrupting them, as they were opening the chest, Tyu would halt the entire train and call for everyone to kill the monster. The train was fast, and you had to keep up, but Tyu never lead selfishly, and they would even scold people a bit for being too egoistical, calling for them to help others, only tag with 1 attack to maximize how many people can participate in events, kills etc.
Tyu’s way of leading people, and their values and priorities stirred something in me, and I knew inside, I wanted to do the same, and i wanted to share these values, celebrate these values and be an example myself. But years passed, and I played very little Guild Wars 2 after the release of Heart of Thorns. I would be on and off on breaks, still keeping to myself. This changed later on.
I think my experience participating in Tyu’s trains is a pretty good way to symbolize the Guild Wars 2 community overall, as a contrast to my experience with other online communities. In Guild Wars 2, people fall over each other to help each other, while my normal experience with online gaming was people going out of their way to ruin something for others. The normalcy in online gaming culture was edgy, it was making fun of others, it was relishing in the enjoyment of ruining others’ experience. This was my expectation at least.
Many years later, after the release of Path of Fire, I would return again and play, and since chest farming in The Silverwastes was dead, I would journey on, looking for a new mind-numbing and relaxing train, and I found Auric Basin Bauble Farming. Here, I discovered another amazing commander, who would take things even further than Tyu. They cared so much for the value of inclusivity that they would one time, after many warnings, end the train entirely in protest, because people were rushing ahead and soloing events or veterans before the slower members of the train could catch up. The same spark ignited in me, and I finally knew, I wanted to get my own commander tag and do this myself. I wanted to lead inclusive, informative, helpful trains and events.
But real life happens, and I was reaching a critical point in my studies, and I had to travel to a foreign country and learn a new language, and I had no time to think about Guild Wars 2. It was a stressful and hard time for me, and to make a long story short, I did not have a great time, and I developed anxiety due to the pressure of everything. When I returned home, I was sort of lost, so I started back up in Guild Wars 2, and I finally got my commander tag, and I ran my first train and event.
And oh boy, did I just stumble over a passion of mine
I started out with some bounty trains in Sandswept Isles, helping people completing collections for the 32-slot bag, and some HoT Hero Point trains, helping new players. And before long, with immense help, support and inspiration from my girlfriend Skye, I made a discord server dedicated to my events, and I began live-streaming as well. 2 years later, I have led hundreds of events, at least 50 Hero Point trains, founded a large and inclusive Guild Wars 2 community, and despite my breaks and struggles with my mental health in real life, I have loved every part of this journey.
With my streams and events, I have come out of my shell, and despite battling anxiety, I would put myself out there, fighting a horrible self-worth and a crippling self-doubt, and the support I was met with was just incredible. The players of Guild Wars 2 have such a capacity to show care and look out for each other. I continue to be amazed by the considerate and thoughtful nature of the atmosphere in this community, probably because it is such a contrast to what I traditionally would expect from online gaming communities.
I have recently come to realize, how all of these experiences with Guild Wars 2, the commanders and the players, have shaped and formed me into a different person. A more open person, who wants to share, who wants to change things for the better, who wants to interact with others and who is not afraid to go out there and do something, no matter what others might think or say, because, I have been proved time and time again, that [kind] people are out there, and if they are given a platform, they will shine through everything else.
