Nature of the ARKs chapter 11

2023.05.12 23:40 CreativeGhost1 Nature of the ARKs chapter 11

hello everybody! today we get a look at some tamed beasties, and one of the keys to unlock the island's secrets... credit to u/SpacePaladin15 for his world, which I have blended with the game ARK: Survival Evolved. I hope you enjoy.
Krikillo, Male Arxur Survivor
Date: ???
(Subject taken from the year 2567).
Survival Quotient: To Be Determined
I rose from my bed better rested than I ever thought I would again in this nonsensical mystery of an island, woken up by a bell tolling somewhere in the Southeast Trader’s home base. My tail had noticeably healed, and I wasn’t sick in any way from that healing concoction. Guess Votilla really knew what she was doing after all. I have to talk to Sir Thero today.
I wandered out of the guesthouse to find the tribe members already going about their day, tending to all sorts of responsibilities in the greenhouse or somewhere outside the stone wall. The metal building with the smoke had a great deal of resources hauled to it, from metal chunks to meat and plants to what looked like containers of pitch black oil. Laurence appears to have risen earlier than I did since he was standing directly in front of the guesthouse door waiting for me.
“I must thank you, Krikillo. I’ve been relieved from working today to show you around the place like a tour guide. Anton has not been spared from his work so he couldn’t come with, unfortunately.”
“You’re welcome, it’s sad he couldn’t come. What did you have in mind to show me?”
Laurence clasped his hands together in a clapping motion and grinned like the cheshire cat. The resulting expression looked as if he was a shady businessman about to offer me a deal I couldn’t refuse. “The creature pens. I have a feeling you’ll really like what’s over there.”
“Alright then, lead the way Sir.”
I trailed behind Laurence as he led me outside the stone wall’s gate. He turned left around the giant cliff until it was a gently sloped hill, then continued up some stairs and onto the great wooden wall where he walked almost to the opposite end of the island from the bay. The belltower I heard earlier was here, a giant structure built into the wooden wall keeping watch on this side. The lack of a certain beach bird at my side brought a question to my mouth.
“Where’s my bird?”
“The dodo? Somebody took him to the pen last night. don’t worry about him, he’s safe there.”
That was good to hear. I was slightly worried Uilleam had wandered off and died in a corner somewhere, I wouldn’t put it past him honestly. We entered the belltower and descended a staircase back to the ground where we followed a beaten trail into the forest.
The trail led us to the third gate I’ve seen on this island, surrounded by a great wall made of both wood and stone. Laurence removed a log from the doors with noticeable effort, then pushed them inwards to reveal what lies within the creature pen.
The first thing I noticed was that almost everything was incredibly massive. The second thing I noticed was the great many teeth protruding from a majority of said massive things’ mouths. Several heads turned to me, and I was so intimidated I took a few steps backwards.
Laurence saw my reaction as clear as day. “There’s nothing to fear here, they’re all more obedient than the family dog.”
“You didn’t tell me about the dozens of different monsters that could make mincemeat of a mazic with ease! They could swallow you or me whole!”
“But they aren’t going to do that. They don’t attack anything unless we tell them to, so are you coming in with me to see your dodo and the cool dinos or not?”
Hesitantly I entered the den of monsters, and marveled at the sheer variety of complacent beasts all at peace with each other. The giant carnivores made no real move at me, content to simply stare at the newcomer from their resting places. One had a longer, thinner snout and a magnificent orange sail that differentiated it from the rest of the massive reptiles.
Laurence saw fit to explain this. “That’s Votilla’s Spinosaurus, his name is Vordt.”
The tilfish doctor owns this beast? Interesting. The herbivores were also massive in their own right, some were spiky things with a bulky physique and a club-ended tail while others had back plates and wicked tail spikes. Laurence explained these as ankylosaurus and stegosaurus respectively. Pigeon sat atop one of the pavilions, staring at me like the rest of the beasts.
Taking in these sights my nervousness gave way to enthusiastic wonder, befitting of my job working with animals back in Cobrastan. Funny how it’s only been three days and I’m already treating my past like it was a lifetime ago. I spent more time surveying the lazing beasts. There was a black scorpion so large a human could ride it, and it was basking in the sun. One reddish skinned carnivore was smaller than the spino and the other beasts Laurence called rexes, but had an intimidating set of horns to make up for it.
“Shaunt’s carnotaurus, boringly named Horns.”
This went on for a bit. Valin’s baryonix Krom, David’s allosauruses Valor and Tenacity, the universally owned paracer named Bill, and many dozens more. Uilleam was in a coop near the corner of the area with a few other dodos and small creatures, happy in the safety of his new home. I decided to leave him there undisturbed.
In the end there was one beast that seemed to earn reverence from all the others, a particularly huge rex with atramentous scales adorning every inch of his great body. He rested in the center of the largest pavilion where it seemed he found it most comfortable, uncontested by all his lessers.
“Euviaven, Thero’s old and melanistic rex. Never seen a stronger rex in all my time on the island.”
I approached Thero’s bituminous beast, still somewhat intimidated up close by the teeth rexes have. Euviaven had no reaction as my hands made contact with the inky hide. His sides rose and shrank with each thunderous breath, signs of aging apparent in their laborious nature.
I spoke as I ran my hands against the ebony scales, petting the monster as I would any domesticated household animal. “Is this the last of your animals to show then?”
“Oh no no, there’s still the megatheriums kept in their own section far away from the invertebrates, even tamed ones go berserk at the mere sight of bugs. Then there’s dung beetles and snails in the greenhouse and gardens, and in the water-“
The bell rang thrice in quick succession, interrupting Laurence as it repeated this pattern multiple times. Every tribesman in the area paused, then ceasing their activities they all hurried out to the front gate.
“That’s the announcement bell, Sir Thero has something important to say,” Laurence beckoned for me to follow as he too began heading down to the brazier platform, “come with me.”
I didn’t dream of missing it. My chance to see their leader! A private talk with him will end my guesthood, either joining the Traders or heading back to the wilds alone once and for all. It just depends on how… content he is to ignore all the secrets of the isle simply begging to be answered.
I admit I don’t really know what I was expecting Thero to look like. I thought perhaps maybe he would be a grizzled, experienced human composed entirely of scars from head to toe, or maybe an old arxur or mazic of similar appearance. Those last two didn’t make much sense since the Traders don’t have either of those species in their ranks, but I never really wondered about the man’s appearance before now.
Thero was a yotul.
An elderly one at that, his scraggly fur was greying in many places and glasses adorned his eyes. His facial fur had been groomed to have the appearance of a magnificent human mustache and beard. An expertly made blue longcoat draped across his back, a huge fanlike collar sitting just behind the yotul’s head leading down into lapels either side of a cravat on his chest. He looked like he came straight from an era of steam and trains. Knowing this place, that’s exactly when he came from.
Thero stood on the elevated platform with the brazier, surrounded by a crowd. A bag sat next to his feet, its contents glowing with a pulsating light.
What could that be?
The crowd was murmuring excitedly. Whatever this gathering was for it was probably pretty uncommon given everyone’s reaction. Thero motioned for a few helpers to silence the crowd, then began his speech.
“Good afternoon everyone, there are some important matters to address in this particular announcement. Let’s get started with some good news and some bad news first, shall we?”
Everyone was silent, listening to their leader with rapt attention as he continued, “Good news first, we have found the location of the ninth cave!”
There was some cheering in the crowd, others clapped hands. Why would a cave be important?
“You all remember the resounding success of the last expedition, we entered the frozen den of beasts on our own feet and took its treasure with nothing but our own strength!” He shook his fist in the air at the last word, riling up the audience a bit, and then reached into the bag at his feet, pulling out an object.
It was like nothing I had ever seen before. The thing was a spherical ball of metal roughly the size of a basketball that floated just above Thero’s paw, engraved with pulsing lines of blue light forming rings around its middle and four sides. It had a great many cube-like knobs protruding every which way from its surface, except for its equator which was devoid of the blocky extrusions. I was so enthralled by it that I had completely missed the bad news.
“-none of these caves have failed yet to provide us with one of these artifacts, and why should this one be any different? We send our expedition out to retrieve the final treasure tomorrow! Those who participate in our spelunking must say so before the sun sets.”
With this Thero calmed down from his adventurous zeal a bit, and I continued to be entranced by the artifact even as it was set down to float on the stone platform. He said ninth cave, does he have eight of these already? What are they made of? What do they do? The questions kept piling up as the yotul listed off several less interesting things from a piece of parchment such as resource management and new developments between some tribes. I do not know how long that list was, I was staring at the object.
“-and the redwoods are now officially completely taken over by the New Dominion, all paths we and our allies once took through or above them must take a detour around the forest or risk being raided. Let’s see here…” he adjusted his glasses as he squinted at the bottom of his notes “oh yes, we have a newcomer everybody! I hope you all made good first impressions for our arxur guest Krikillo.” At the mention of my name the crowd focused its attention on me, and I withered a bit inside. I never dealt with stage fright well.
I believe he caught the fact I was uncomfortable since he quickly brought the attention back to himself. “Anyways, that concludes today’s news. You may all resume whatever you were previously doing. Good day.”
If Thero had not shown off his artifact and that kindred spirit of curiosity we both shared then that may not have been enough to stop me from leaving. He did however, and now I could not even tear my eyes away from that ethereal ball, let alone deny myself this one and only opportunity to examine it and potentially unlock this island’s mystery.
I hurried towards the old yotul as the crowd dispersed, Laurence curiously following shortly behind. I must be on that expedition, no matter what.
“Sir! Sir Thero!” I called out as I drew closer. He turned to me, anticipating my next words.
“What is it my friend?”
“I have made up my mind. I would like to be a tribe member.”
“That’s splendid! We-”
“On one condition.”
“Oh, what would that be son?”
“I must go on your expedition.”
Thero’s ears flattened “Well I won’t turn down any extra hands we can get, but to go cave diving at the bottom of a sea of monsters? Surely you have safer things in mind for your first few days as a newcomer!”
I paused. It appears I had missed the part where the cave was underwater. No matter, a satisfying life is full of risks, and this is but one more. One that I know will prove well worth it in the end.
A life spent here without trying to find my way back home is meaningless to me anyway.
“I insist.”
we have met Sir Thero now, and he has won our arxur friend over quite thoroughly by showing off an artifact. what do you think of him? all constructive criticism is welcome, and please comment below if you ended up liking this chapter.

2021.03.20 21:22 Sea-Interaction2050 Hi guys I have some questions about inubating eggs

So I want to hatch a Baryonix egg but I am anxious about starting to hatch one as I don't now if I have the right setup to start hatching it. So firstly I have a hatching setup in a mostly wood with some stone building, 3 ac's in a row next to eachother and the average temperature is about 14°c as far as I have seen ( I live on the northeast near the mouth of the river). The ark wiki says a Baryonix egg needs to hatch at at least 29°c so I don't really know if 3 ac's are enough and if not how many do I need additionally? I couldn't find a conclusive answer on the internet as some say I don't need any and others say I need about 14. Thanks in advance for replying!

2021.03.11 22:21 Sea-Interaction2050 Hi y'all what are some things to watch for when breeding dino's?

Hi so as the title says I want to get into breeding with my dino's but I have heard stuff about mutations and stuff like that. And I would appreciate it if y'all would tell me what some things are to keep in mind when breeding. I am plauing on an ARK with two of my pals so I don't necessarily need the absolute perfect dino offspring. Also I am planning to breed baryonixes if that matters.

2020.03.08 02:52 Reikix My first visit to magma cave

This is not one of my posts asking for ideas or wondering what X thing is in Ark, just a big block of text to share my recent experiences in the game and the magma/lava cave.
I've been playing Ark for almost a year... but just a few hours a week due to lack of time, that's also the reason I only play single player (and why I'm still noobish). I don't go into Ark every day and I pause really often as I need to take care of other stuff.
I set a policy to myself when I started playing Ark: I would try to make it as close as possible to a survival. That meant not following guides, not watching videos with tricks or walkthroughs for any possible dungeon, disabling the option that shows your position on the map and initially disabling crosshairs, then I left it enabled as hitting a target with a bow and arrow while running without crosshairs had been getting really frustrating. Trying to figure out everything (or almost everything) by myself. Obviously there's some info you end up learning when talking to people or seeing memes around here and there.
Well, a couple days ago I got excited about genesis due to a couple videos I watched of people exploring it for the first time, so I decided I would start trying to beat the island. I went to the green obelisk and checked some...idols(?) it had at the center, saw I needed some artifacts.
I had already gotten the artifact of the clever as I found the cave while getting down of the volcan some time ago, I kind of knew where the cave for the artifact of the hunter was since I came across the cave when I was low level and was searching for metal. today I took my loyal Carnotaur "Berta" which I have had since she was lv70 (she's now 152) and went exploring the island. While chasing a Rex (which now is the first T.Rex I've been able to tame) I came across the magma cave.
I'm not even sure if I took the right way. There were some parts where I had to get down from Berta and go on foot because I needed to jump in order to continue and not fall into the lava. I ended up baiting the bats on the other side and then running and jumping back where my canotaur was in order to kill them, and then continue by myself again. Did that to get the loot crate and the artifact of the massive. I'm surprised my carno has been able to get into all caves so far. I had heard the smallest dino (out of the best ones for the caves) that you could take into one was the baryonix, but I haven't found a high level one yet (Well, I found a lv77 one today while going through a swamp but he attacked while I was fighting several sarcosuchus and titanboas so I had to kill it as well).
Edit: Fixed several typos that were added by Android predictive text.

2018.10.09 01:22 recklessfire27 My Nitrado Server Spawn Overhaul Codes

Been playing around with spawn codes and finally through lots of trial and error i have it down pat.
These codes are for Ragnarok and are to be copy and pasted into your nitrado app's game.ini section.
I figured some people may appreciate these codes as when I was doing this I looked for codes people made as well but always wanted things more specific. To make easy changes just change the name entries, spawn entries or dino blueprint entries to your liking. Also adjust spawns according to how you want. Any questions on how to make changes let me know and i'll teach you how.
Megalosaurus cave overhaul (below castle) This will overhaul spawns to include nearly all Aberrant-predator variants, rock drake, ravagers, karkinos, all light shoulder pets, roll rats, and yes, i even got Reaper kings to spawn (it is possible afterall.) This code is working 100%. Oh and i also threw in troodons to make this dark cave even more terrifying
ConfigOverrideNPCSpawnEntriesContainer=( NPCSpawnEntriesContainerClassString="DinoSpawnEntriescavemegalo", NPCSpawnEntries=((AnEntryName="Roll", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Molerat_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Megalosaurus", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Megalosaurus_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Troodon", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("troodon_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="reaper", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Xenomorph_character_bp_male_tamed_c")),(AnEntryName="lightbug", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("lightbug_character_basebp_c")),(AnEntryName="purlovia", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("purlovia_character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="Carno", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Carno_character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="baryonix", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Baryonix_character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="Sarco", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Sarco_character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="Boa", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Boafrill_character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="spino", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("spino_character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="raptor", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("raptor_character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="megalania", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("megalania_character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="goat", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("lanterngoat_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="crab", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("crab_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="drake", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("rockdrake_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="alphacrab", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("megacrab_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="lizard", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("lanternlizard_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="feather", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("lanternbird_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="pug", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("lanternpug_character_bp_c")), (AnEntryName="cavewolf", EntryWeight=1.0, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("cavewolf_character_bp_c"))),NPCSpawnLimits=((NPCClassString="Molerat_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="Megalosaurus_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="troodon_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="xenomorph_character_bp_male_tamed_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="lightbug_character_basebp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="Purlovia_character_bp_aberrant_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="Carno_character_bp_aberrant_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="baryonix_character_bp_aberrant_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="Sarco_character_bp_aberrant_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="boafrill_character_bp_aberrant_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="Spino_character_bp_aberrant_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="raptor_character_bp_aberrant_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="megalania_character_bp_aberrant_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="lanterngoat_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="crab_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="rockdrake_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="megacrab_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="lanternlizard_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="lanternbird_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="lanternpug_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="cavewolf_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05)))
Highlands (Light house) spawn overhaul This code is working 100% and will overhaul this area to include multiple Titan and Giga spawns, along with Rexes, Yuty, Allo, Carno, alpha wyvern,Bronto and Reaper Kings!
ConfigOverrideNPCSpawnEntriesContainer=( NPCSpawnEntriesContainerClassString="DinoSpawnEntries_Ragnarok_Scotland", NPCSpawnEntries=((AnEntryName="Allosaur", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Allo_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Rex", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Rex_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Yuty", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Yutyrannus_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Carno", EntryWeight=0.15, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Carno_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Giga", EntryWeight=0.1, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Gigant_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Titan", EntryWeight=.1, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Titanosaur_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Bronto", EntryWeight=0.35,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Bronto_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="alphawyvern",EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("megawyvern_character_bp_fire_c")),(AnEntryName="alpharex", EntryWeight=.50,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Megarex_Character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Reaper", EntryWeight=0.1,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Xenomorph_character_bp_male_tamed_c"))),NPCSpawnLimits=((NPCClassString="Allo_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.15),(NPCClassString="Rex_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.15), (NPCClassString="Yutyrannus_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.15), (NPCClassString="Carno_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="Gigant_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Titanosaur_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Bronto_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Megawyvern_character_bp_fire_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.05), (NPCClassString="Megarex_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05),(NPCClassString="Xenomorph_character_bp_male_tamed_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1)))
Desert Dunes Overhaul (big open desert area) Earlier versions of this code work but i expanded it with more spawns. Have not tested updated code. This should overhaul the dunes to feature Basilisk, deathworms, and their alpha counterparts along with alpha wyvern , rex , rare giga and titans.
ConfigOverrideNPCSpawnEntriesContainer=( NPCSpawnEntriesContainerClassString="DinoSpawnEntriesDunes", NPCSpawnEntries=((AnEntryName="megabasilisk", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Megabasilisk_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Basilisk", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Basilisk_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="deathworm", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("deathworm_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="megadeathworm", EntryWeight=0.25, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("megadeathworm_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="alphawyvern", EntryWeight=0.25, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("megawyvern_character_bp_fire_c")),(AnEntryName="alpharex", EntryWeight=.25, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("megarex_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="rubble", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("rubblegolem_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="rock",EntryWeight=.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("rockgolem_character_basebp_c")),(AnEntryName="camel", EntryWeight=.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("camelsaurus_Character_bp_aberrant_c")),(AnEntryName="paracer", EntryWeight=0.1,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("paracer_character_bp_c"))),NPCSpawnLimits=((NPCClassString="Megabasilisk_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1),(NPCClassString="basilisk_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1), (NPCClassString="deathworm_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1), (NPCClassString="megadeathworm_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1), (NPCClassString="megawyvern_character_bp_fire_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Megarex_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="rubblegolem_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="rockgolem_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="camelsaurus_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1),(NPCClassString="paracer_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1)))
Snowplains Overhaul (area with the frozen lakes atop the tundra mountains.) This code is working 100% but may want some tweaking. Its a massive tyranno fight club. I have Wolves spawning at 30% with the remaining dino at much lower rates yet it's nothing but Rexes, Yuty, Allo and Carno fighting other various spawns such as wolves and smaller prey.
ConfigOverrideNPCSpawnEntriesContainer=( NPCSpawnEntriesContainerClassString="DinoSpawnEntries_Ragnarok_Snowplains", NPCSpawnEntries=((AnEntryName="Direwolf", EntryWeight=0.35,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Direwolf_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Mammoth", EntryWeight=0.15,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Mammoth_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Yutyrannus", EntryWeight=0.20,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Yutyrannus_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Saber", EntryWeight=0.15, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Sabre_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Rex", EntryWeight=0.25, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Rex_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Allo", EntryWeight=.25, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Allo_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Carno", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Carno_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="sloth",EntryWeight=.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("megatherium_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Direbear", EntryWeight=.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Direbear_Character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Rhino", EntryWeight=0.1,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Rhino_character_bp_c"))),NPCSpawnLimits=((NPCClassString="Direwolf_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.30),(NPCClassString="Mammoth_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="Yutyrannus_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Sabre_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05), (NPCClassString="Rex_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Allo_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.05), (NPCClassString="Carno_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.05), (NPCClassString="Megatherium_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.05), (NPCClassString="Direbear_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.05),(NPCClassString="Rhino_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.05)))
Redwoods Overhaul (Red forest area) This will overhaul the area with arks top feline and canine creatures such as thylacoleo, wolves, hyaenodon, ravagers, and the occasional megalosaurus. Smaller, faster dinos will appear here.
ConfigOverrideNPCSpawnEntriesContainer=( NPCSpawnEntriesContainerClassString="DinoSpawnEntriesRedwoods", NPCSpawnEntries=((AnEntryName="Ravager", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Cavewolf_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Direwolf", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("direwolf_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Thyla", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Thylacoleo_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Saber", EntryWeight=0.25, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Sabre_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Hyaena", EntryWeight=0.25, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Hyaenodon_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Raptor", EntryWeight=.25, NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Raptor_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Purlovia", EntryWeight=0.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Purlovia_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="sloth",EntryWeight=.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("megatherium_character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Direbear", EntryWeight=.25,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Direbear_Character_bp_c")),(AnEntryName="Chalicotherium", EntryWeight=0.1,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Chalicotherium_character_bp_c"))),NPCSpawnLimits=((NPCClassString="Cavewolf_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1),(NPCClassString="Direwolf_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1), (NPCClassString="Thylacoleo_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1), (NPCClassString="Sabre_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1), (NPCClassString="Hyaenodon_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Raptor_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Purlovia_character_bp_c", MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Megatherium_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1), (NPCClassString="Direbear_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.1),(NPCClassString="Chalicotherium_character_bp_c",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=.1)))
Edit: All codes working spawns just may need to be adjusted. Highlands usually has about 2-3 Titans 3-4 Giga and 5-7 Reaper 1-3 Alpha wyvern various rexes, allo, yuty, bronto, and diplo all at once. It's a hellfield

2018.04.23 22:15 intangir_v Imprinting is easy.. heres how

ok the new imprinting system is objectively WORSE (it's cheaper on kibble, but we actually have less leeway on imprinting time flexibility) but it is still possible to somewhat comfortably imprint almost all types of animals to 100% without ruining your sleep or your life
heres now:
the most important advice i can give though if you are having a hard time managing 100% is this:
your tames can still be nearly as badass with less imprinting, and you will have tens of hours of extra slack time. its great, i don't even worry about 100% on many tames, like therizinos. they are quite challenging, so i just don't worry about it most of the time. wildcard has repeatedly stated in response to the massive number of complaints that imprints are bonuses, not something everyone should always push to get 100% on as a necessity.. thats why the benefit scales evenly. you are not a prisoner, wildcard/ark is not punishing or entrapping you and forcing you to get 100%.. they aren't even forcing you to raise animals.. believe it or not you aren't even forced to play.. the angry prisonevictim mentality responses to the imprinting system i see some people come up with are shocking and surprising to me..
you don't need to lose sleep, lose your health or lose your sanity. if its a struggle for you then don't put yourself out for those few extra percents of imprinting, its just not worth it, but if it is important to you, with just a bit of planning and experience you will manage it easier than people on this subreddit would have you believe.

2018.03.31 18:55 WendigoNasty PLAYER BEWARE: Epos Rp

So IDK how many ARK RP enthusiasts come here but I do feel like I have to post this warning somewhere. I’ve been playing on RP servers for almost a year now and I have gone through several, most are pretty good, they all have their issues and drama-mongers but that can’t be helped. I have come very close to reporting a few for toxic communities, and favoritism but this story just takes the cake.
I joined Epos a while back because I wanted to feel out a new character. I was excited to see that some people I knew from the now-closed Aurora RP server had gone there and seemed to like it well enough. I tribed up with them and within the week I had a griffin and was making progress on my Baryonix breeding. As with all dino breeding you eventually phase out some of the older dinos in favor of new ones and I had about 5 rejects that I decided to sell at the community market. Now I will say that the mods were talking about creating faction exclusive markets (there were biome based factions on Epos) but this seemed to be something in the future, and I also assumed that the main market wouldn’t be moved (since this was the only place where you could purchase Aberration dinos and it was a good place for people of different factions to trade)
Apparently I was wrong.
A day or two after I brought the Barys to the market the server owner called our tribe over global and said if we didn’t remove the dinos from the market she would kill them. I responded that I would be right over with a boat, and just as I began to build a platform on a raft to take over, my screen was filled with death messages. I was shocked, and what is worse is what she did next, some one else had made it in time to retrieve some argies that they were trying to sell, the server owner yelled at the player in global to return the Birds to be executed or face a ban.
And I knew I was done, see, I come from official pvp, where accidentally killing another tribes tame is grounds for a wipe. I left the tribe and took my griffin, flew over to her base. It was here I noticed that she had claimed all of the aberrant dinos that had been for sale at the market. Surely she had forgotten to kill them, so I gave her a hand and killed them for her. Eventually I was banned but not before I had destroyed all of the aberrant spinos and a few krakinos, so much for helping her.
All in all, the server is run by a bully who gets her rocks off to destroying peoples hard work. I know that what I did in return was somewhat childish but someone had to stand up to her. I guess what I’m trying to say is avoid Epos RP at all costs, let the place shrivel and die.

2017.12.22 17:36 PivotNaza Wildcard NEEDS to make use out of the Spinosaurids MEGA-claws (Animation or attack wise)

Hello Fellow survivers, Today i'm here with an idea, more of a request really.. "Ark : survival evolved" Has 2 spinosaurids, The Spinosaurus and the Baryonix.. yet NONE of them use their characteristic MEGA-claws for anything, even though the baryonix HAS claw animations in the dev-kits.. perhaps they could be used randomized attack animations.

2017.10.17 00:08 AdligerAdler How to reach the crystal in the Lower South Cave? By standing on the back of some mount?

Some of the crystal is too high on the cave's walls to reach it with the pick. I'm playing on official PvE so I can't build structures in caves.
Is there a mount that fits into the cave and out, gets to all crystal spots, and that you can stand on?
I look at the list of creatures (link below) that have "excellent" accessability, but I don't know if you can stand on the back of some of them since I never owned them. Like the Baryonix for example.
Or is that crystal just unreachable on official PvE?

2017.02.23 21:14 Adamkharat [Suggestion] Greatly increase egg laying rates in the wild for PVE servers.

With 255 looming soon, our tribe has run into an unfortunate wall. The 400 dino cap is effectively tearing apart our happy tribe at the seams. What was once a group of survivors prospering in breeding has now become a bickering mess due to the implementation of new limits. We also noticed unknown new tribes stockpiling huge amounts of dinos on our server around the obelisks, lagging the areas horribly to bypass the limit on their own main servers.
We love breeding. We breed for colors, stats, mutations, and anything else we can. Our entire facility depends on a steady supply of eggs for imprints, meaning almost half of our dino population is mainly there to poop out kibble mats. It took time and effort to finish this collection and create a large structure capable of house our beloved farm dinos. We're sad it will soon become necessary to exterminate more than half this population. That said, we initially thought increasing egg lay rates would be a nice solution for the necessity of stockpiling dinos but still hit about 100-120 Dinos just for kibble.
After hours of discussion on multiple servers and forums, a brilliant idea came to pass.
Why not greatly increase the egg lay rates of wild dinos. I mean, to the point where it would be unnecessary to have more than just a few egg layers of a certain type for the dinos you really want to focus on. Increasing the spawn rates of eggs in the wild also opens the doors to kibble for newer players who don't have a massive barn, and equalizes the chance to find them with newer players, opening bartering options with larger tribes.
EDIT: If each egg produced 2-3 kibble when cooked, would decrease the necessity in numbers.
One simple solution to many problems PVE has been facing.
Thank you Wildcard for one of the best games I've played in a long time, and I hope you guys see this. Cheers.

2017.02.01 22:38 Creamy-Dreamer Updating the Old Dinos.

So new dinos come out with new features all the time in Ark. Lots of these new dinos are similar to others but the old ones don't inherit these abilities once they come out. Here's a couple examples...
  1. The sheep grows wool that can be harvested. Why not have other fur creatures be the same way like the furry rhino or the mammoth?
  2. The saber doesn't drop pelt, but it has a pelt back.
  3. The baryonix can go kill fish on it's own, why not the spino?
  4. Kapro can pick people off mounts with it's strong jaws, why not the sarco?
Once the game is released, new players are going to be very confused when they see that some furry animals have pelt, some have wool, some have neither. They're gonna be confused about a lot of things because this is not intuitive at all. I hope they are planning to update all the old creatures so that there is more consistency.
